hi everyone
glad y'all had nice mother's days and got spoiled. I was given breakfast in bed. DD1 came up all bristling with self importance and offered me my choices "cheerios, rice crispies or porridge with juice, milk, tea, beer or wine" For about a nanosecond I was tempted by a nice glass of red...but I plumped for porridge with honey and a lovely cup of tea. Then they brought all their favourite soft toys in and fairly covered me in the bed with them...a bit like cats bringing dead birds as tokens of affection...my girls don't part with their favourites easily so I KNOW it was a special day!

we went for a cycle ride to dulwich park and had lunch in pizza express...DD1 threw many strops along the way and DD2 (the poxridden one) fell asleep in her seat on the back of my bike so it wasn't exactly stress free, was nice though

I got my gorgeous easter swap gift from Whizz and have blogged in on the blog - thanks whizz, I now feel even worse I haven't sent yours yet but it won't be long, I promise!

and, I did that interview with the guy from radio free nation who emailed me last week, I've linked to it from here - I repeat myself a lot and sound like a bit of a dork (I didn't really think about what to say in advance I'm afraid - in fact I actually forgot he was going to ring me on Saturday ) but if you want to hear my dulcet [ahem] tones rambling on you now can! he was really nice and complimentary about what I do, whatever that is...I can't believe I said work was "boring" though, what if my boss hears it...aargh!

Gingermonkey · 03/03/2008 15:12

RH - Hoorah! I'm glad the chick arrived and you like it. Phew. The lavender came from Ebay, it's french which is stronger than english (apparently).

JG - I rather like your dulcet tones. Can you phone me and just talk at me for a bit please. Thanks.
The interview is really good, I like how the American is telling you where to go and visit in Ireland 'you'd not be disappointed'. ha ha ha. And you have been touched by a divine power too. That'll be the Nuns, then

jeangenie · 03/03/2008 15:27

I know GM, I nearly wet myself at that bit about the hand of the divine or whatever it was and things along the lines of "you CANNOT be serious" were about to pop from my dulcet little mouth...but I left it...and yeah, he was a great advert for Ireland - did you like the bit where I had no idea where my husband is actually from? I liked that bit a lot...as did DH...we rolled around the kitchen in hysterics of laughter when we listened to it...

am amazed you could sit through it really...he was quite gushing...

Miaou · 03/03/2008 15:28

Hellooo folks, sorry I have been rather absent from this thread.

Well this week's challenge - to make two costumes for my dds to wear to Big Yellow Friday this Friday! This is a charity fun day to raise money for the Children's Liver Disease Foundation. Dd1 wants to go as an elephant (the symbol of the foundation) and dd2 as Mr Happy! I have bought three metres of yellow fabric and am busy making trousers, ears, trunks etc atm - will post pics of the finished items on my profile!

jeangenie · 03/03/2008 15:29

ps GM send me your number...I'll talk dulcet at you any time

Gingermonkey · 03/03/2008 15:45

oh miaou - you've reminded me - I have to make a freaking fantasy animal costume for weds.

JG - yep, I was wetting myself at that. I wanted you to say 'oh, but, for sure, he's from Northern Ireland so I don't even pay any attention to where. Until we get it back it doesn't exist, in my mind' I wanted some 'for sure' in there - because that is what all Irish people say (it is - I have read tis and angela's ashes so am an expert). Or you could have got Marty all excited by telling him your DH was a protestant and you're Catholic and your families have never spoken. Please do it in the Summer, you know he'd get really giddy about it. Bless him, he did seem very sweet. I had a vision of you sat (in your PJs - it was saturday after all), with DH trying to make you laugh by sticking breadsticks up his nose. Or were you very serious and said to the family 'now, I have a very important interview - please be gone'???

jg, i listened to your interview earlier, you came across really well, the interviewer sounds a bit of a dork though . well done, you should do a follow up later this year.

i have blogged a bit about how much bloggers choose to share today. i didn't want to go into too much detail on my blog but i followed a link back through my sitemeter and it is some kind of forum where someone had put a link to my eye patch tutorial saying 'kids are going to beat that girl without mercy'

jeangenie · 03/03/2008 16:36

oh god LK, I am sure I put far too much personal stuff up there...but I don't let myself think too much about it...I don't do many pics of the kids/us but it's always hard to decide

I run statcounter on mine but it's not always easy to see where folk are coming from. I'm always a bit nervous of the ones that either have no referring link or one that was just in a bit of yahoo mail that I can't see...

It's easy to get lulled into a false sense of security in the cosy blog'o'craft'o'sphere though, for sure (happy GM? ). And then you look at some of what else is out there on t'internet and you want to weep at your naivete...in a weird way I want to be naive though...and not acknowledge the fact that it can be so unpleasant...probably not so wise

GreebosWhiskers · 03/03/2008 16:58

Dior - your swap is finished & ready to be posted tomorrow - 'tis very . . . pink

Tilly, I will get your Easter swap off this week - I feel awful as you were one of the first to send yours, and you were feeling ill at the time!

I havent been on here as much as usual, have become obsessed with knitting socks - I finished my first one, and Im pretty proud of it! Will have to cast on the second one though, as one is no use on its own!

I am also knitting a cat for a swap on Ravelry - not sure how Im going to sew it up as it is a very hairy yarn, so may end up redoing it at the last minute.

I need to update myself on all the blogs, including mine.

Meridian, I would like to purchase one of your lovely bracelets for my Mum's birthday - should i do it through your Etsy shop?

Tillyboo · 03/03/2008 20:55

Hi Fubsy, don't worry, it's absolutely fine.

I keep hearing about Ravelry, what is it ?

I can't knit for toffee, hopeless, useless in fact.

I'd love to see some of your work

lucykate · 03/03/2008 23:02

tilly, ravelry is knitting heaven, its a forum to share projects and patterns on.

now, i need help with a serious dilemma, i bought a really cute, pink wool jumper at the weekend, £4 from charity shop (originally m&s), it is a 10, so is a bit tight, but i can get into it, plus it makes my norks look huge . i did buy it to felt, but now, not so sure, wear it or felt it, can't decide!

if i felt it, i could make one of these, yummy scrummy bags

meridian · 03/03/2008 23:16

had lovely time at the cinema... DH would have hated it.. it was very good... even scary Jhonny Depp is lovely .. have promised DH I will take him to the ritz for his birthday later this month.. was very fun, and there is a little coffee shop/cafe/bar across the street that is open til ten so we all had coffees before we went into the theater.. oh and an italian hot chocolate.. which was just molten hot chocolate in a glass that a friend had and it look so devine... next time

fubsy- what would you like? e-mail me at meridianariel @ hotmail . com and we can work something out.

LK- wear it for a bit then felt it.. best of both worlds then.. new sweater for a bit then new hand bag... and I bet you could make a fab corsage too!

feeling much better this evening.. johnny depp must have cured me

vInTaGeVioLeT · 03/03/2008 23:54

lucykate i'd rather have a gorgeous bag like that than a norktastic pink sweater!!! why not wear it for a while then shrink it!!

vInTaGeVioLeT · 03/03/2008 23:57

also lucykate you are a very bad influence on me . . . .continually showing me more and more lurverly websites/blogs

Nbg · 04/03/2008 08:58

JG, have listened to your interview You were very good.
Your brilliant eye for small beauty

LK, make the bag, its gorgeous!

Gingermonkey · 04/03/2008 09:05

lk - have you got Betz's book yet? It's really good!!!!

Meri - My dh loves Johnny Depp, and really wants to go see Sweeney Todd. We never go to the cinema though, I should start (maybe tomorrow - when the monkey is at nursery).

gm- DH and I have movie night once a week... dvd's from tesco's dvd by post thingy... andy try to get out to the actual cinema at least once a month... last night was the first time i have been out with girlfriends to see a movie in years... it was very good.. though two of my friends were a tad bit squeemish ... I'm ok with gore I just hate embarassing scenes that make you cringe ...

not done much crafting other than a little bit of knitting and getting together a list of beading things I want from fire mountain gems... such lovely things...

lucykate · 04/03/2008 09:42

gm, no, i haven't got betz's book, but i did flick through it at the trade fair the other week, the uk version though, much prefer the us 'warm fuzzies' one, loved the hand puppets in there.

no crafting today for me, am off shopping with ds after too much bickering this morning over who got which spoon i keep telling dh, mine is the barbie spon, his is the thomas one
