We've settled on crochet dino's for my friend's boys at Christmas...this stegosaurus, this t-rex and I want to make this triceratops just because he's cute 🤣

tizwozliz · 16/02/2022 20:35

@lucysmam - if you haven't already bought it, this is a good free T-Rex pattern. I've made lots.

lucysmam · 16/02/2022 20:37

No, I haven't bought it yet. I don't get paid for another week 🙄. I'll send her the link for that one too and see which she prefers. Thanks @tizwozliz!

lucysmam · 16/02/2022 22:02

Oh wow @InTheNightWeWillWish he's epic! I did see a triceratops made up of granny hexagons too (I think they were hexagons...I didn't pay that much attention 🤦‍♀️).

I'm not sure I'd make much use of a book of dino's tizwoz but I will have a hunt for pics of inside/a copy to borrow and have a look at.

lucysmam · 16/02/2022 22:07

I got so excited about dinos, I forgot to post Dobby hat progress 🤦‍♀️

The hat, and ears, are finished. I've just had dd1 wear it so I could put pins in where I want the ears 🤣 She sighed at me...a lot 🤷‍♀️ I think we did well at spacing them to say there was no measuring/counting going on!

I'll sew in the ends tomorrow then attach the ears

Thats very cute @GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

I have too many projects on the go and its all getting a bit stressful - I need to just focus on finishing something.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/02/2022 13:59

Same here, @NiceCardigan - 2 on the go as well as big rainbow blanket. That’s going to be several weeks yet - I’ll be glad to finally get rid of the 2 mega bags of stash-yarn cluttering up the sitting room, still needed though since I need 2 different colours per row.

lucysmam · 17/02/2022 16:57

Dobby is finished! His ears are slightly different - possibly the result of tired crocheting the other night but I am pleased with it!

NiceCardigan · 17/02/2022 17:13

That looks really good @lucysmam you need to show us what it looks like on a model as well though!

lucysmam · 17/02/2022 17:15

Dd1 might shout at me if I ask again 🤣

Fairislefandango · 18/02/2022 08:22

Dobby hat looks great, @lucysmam!

I hope everyone is safely knitting or crocheting inside and sheltering from storm Eunice! I was woken up early by the bloody cat, so I've been sitting knitting mittens while everyone else (including the cat Hmm) went back to sleep!

MerylSqueak · 18/02/2022 08:50

Poor you @Fairislefandango !

We're at home. The school's closed. Much happiness third lesson yesterday. Online school today but I can't see anyone around yet. I'm going to do my sign language practice.

I'm not a crocheter, but if I was, I might do some of these as presents. Free pattern for cotton pads and a bag to keep them in at Stitch and Story today

MerylSqueak · 18/02/2022 08:56

I've just realised it's probably a pattern you crocheters could think up by yourselves. I just thought it was a good gift idea.

CrochetBug · 18/02/2022 16:12

Has everyone coped with the storm? Its been very windy here and we went to red alert overnight so school and college were both closed.

I feel a sudden urge to make dinos Grin

They're really cute face scrubbers @MerylSqueak. I made some a few years ago, but they've disappeared to wherever it is that things (eg the 'other' sock and tupperware lids) go. Hmm

tizwozliz · 18/02/2022 16:18

We've not had much weather here, wind has picked up a bit now but was forecast to peak at midday and the sun was shining and the trees were still.

I managed to sew some ends on a blanket I 'finished' a couple of years ago, about a third of it left now.

Various patterns it includes are here. I wanted a pterodactyl pattern and all the ones I liked were 6/7 quid on Etsy so I justified the purchase of the book as being much better value Grin

DD1 won 4 tickets at work to see cirque du soleil at the Albert hall for this afternoon. She was travelling on a train from Norwich to get there with her boyfriend and they got as far as Colchester before all the trains were suspended and so they are currently stuck there. DS and DD1 managed to get to the show as we gave them a lift to where the tube starts but we are hoping the wind dies down before we need to get them.

NiceCardigan · 18/02/2022 16:44

I mean DD2 got there - she came down from Leeds last night

NiceCardigan · 18/02/2022 16:45

It’s all been a bit stressful!

CrochetBug · 18/02/2022 16:48

Oh gosh @NiceCardigan that is stressful!
I hope everyone gets home safely and that those who manage to get to the RAH enjoy it. I saw Cirque about 11 years ago and they were so amazing!

NiceCardigan · 18/02/2022 16:56

DD2 really wanted to go as she’s a member of an aerial arts club and loves all that kind of thing! The wind is calming down here soon so we’ll be ok picking up from the central line and hopefully DD1 will be able to get a train later - they went for a nice lunch and then an art gallery.

lucysmam · 18/02/2022 17:16

It was fairly calm here until a couple of hours ago!

In the last half hour, a massive tree's come down on a street not far away. & now I'm wondering just how secure in the ground the trees at the end of my garden are! They're HUGE & would do some serious damage if they come down.

One's damaged from next door's dc using it as a lever to climb over here for his ball & I think that part definitely needs to come off looking at it now!

Fairislefandango · 18/02/2022 18:36

Windy here, but not really scarily so. Dh is out this evening, so I'll be knitting!

Much excitement in the Fandango household today, as we've finally managed to order a PS5 after... what... 2 years' wait?!
