When looked at from the side that was facing you when you did that row, the purl rows look like waves, the knit rows look like lines of little Vs.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 13/02/2022 15:43

Cowl finished, it's like wearing a giant blanket/shawl and I absolutely love it. It's promised to my DM so I'm going to knit another for me, its such a quick knit, but until she comes and wrests it out of my hands I'm wearing it Smile

I did this one in bouclé yarn which I hadn't used before but I love it, I kind of fancy a jumper in it, maybe a sweatshirty one in black.

Oooooh @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound that's gorgeous.
I'm currently lining my Corvids-19 cowl with black fleece: I love it, but it's a bit flimsy. It has a habit of collapsing down in on itself so you can't see the crows, and all that's visible is the sparkly strands on the back. Hopefully flat lining it will make it sturdy enough to wear!

Fairislefandango · 13/02/2022 15:49

That's absolutely stunning, @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound! What's the pattern?

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 13/02/2022 16:32

Thanks! It’s the Jadite Cowl by Arella Seaton www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/jadeite-3 the original is sport weight but I did it in DK in the smaller size.

Sounds brilliant MrsRussell, I’d love to see it!

MerylSqueak · 13/02/2022 16:36

Lovely @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound. It doesn't look like a quick knit to me!

Fairislefandango · 13/02/2022 17:20

Hmmm I'm supposed to be packinh to go away tomorrow and have just spent ages looking at the Jadeite Cowl and then looking at what yarns I might make it in. Despite the facf that I have two projects on the go, and a further two lined up for after that. Hmm Grin

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 13/02/2022 19:17

There are probably people who can pack for travel without completely changing their project a couple of times and deciding now is a good time to ball some wool but I'm not one of them, though I usually forget the needles and end up doing my original project anyway Blush

CrochetBug · 13/02/2022 19:27

I don't know who any one is any more! Grin
I only use this name for craft related threads, because if you know me IRL you'd know it was me. I have a few others I use as well depending on what I'm posting.
And then a "main name" that I change every so often.

I was making good progress on my c2c. I actually got to the point where I could decrease one side. Then I ran out of yarn. Not completely. But I'm down to 3 shades of green, and the first half has about 7 so I need more!

So I've gone back to my ripple blanket.

Fairislefandango · 13/02/2022 20:55

Grin Sorry to be confusing, @CrochetBug! It is I, former lazylinguist .

lucysmam · 13/02/2022 20:59

2 strands of aran + 5mm hook is really quite tough on the hands! In good news though, Dobby's ears aren't floppy (well, the one I've just finished...I'll give my hands a break & do the second tomorrow at some point).

Pic is progress so far. I think I'll finish it tomorrow

NiceCardigan · 13/02/2022 21:02

That’s looking great @lucysmam

lucysmam · 13/02/2022 21:06

Dd2 has just informed me it's 9pm, not 10pm! I was packing up because I usually head to bed between 10 - 10:30pm 🤦‍♀️

NiceCardigan · 13/02/2022 21:14

More crochet time lucysmam!

lucysmam · 13/02/2022 21:57

🤣 yep! I've done the second ear - just shaping and attaching them, then a few ends to be sewn in, tomorrow.

I'm packing up for real this time!

sophs29 · 14/02/2022 14:56

Hahaha @CrochetBug I'm the same as you 😂 I was reading through some of the thread and got so confused thinking who is everyone 😂

CrochetBug · 14/02/2022 17:11

Playing with non yarn craft, but for a yarn project. I need buttons for my "Kingsley" cushion so used my wood burner. Thoughts please? It's a bit shit. Confused
Should I add his "dates" to the bottom. Maybe just the years. 1982-2022. Sad

It's been an odd day. Monday is the only day I get a whole day to myself.
DS2 got half way to school then bumped into friends and told to turn around. There was a fire at school and the resulting hole in the roof lead to a flood and their whole IT system was down including "the one that keeps students safe" apparently.

Then DS1 went into college to be told his Monday teacher died at the weekend and sent home again. :(

@lucysmam the hat looks great! Did you find a pattern or improvise?

CrochetBug · 14/02/2022 18:31

Might help if I add the photo!

lucysmam · 14/02/2022 19:50

I don't think it's "shit"! I think it'll make your cushion special to you and Kingsley & like the idea of his years underneath @CrochetBug.

It's sort of a mish-mash of patterns, and winging it, since I'd never made a hat before. I actually decided a couple of hours ago that I'm going to frog the hdc rows, and two rows of dc, then add only 2/3 rows of hdc, so it sits a bit higher up. Dd1 has been my unwilling model 🤣 She's sighed at me an awful lot and will do so again in an hour or two 🤷‍♀️

Fairislefandango · 15/02/2022 07:40

I think your button is lovely, @CrochetBug! What a strange day your dc have haď - Shock about the fire and Sad about the teacher!

tizwozliz · 15/02/2022 21:25

I'm now at the stage that my project can provide warmth as I crochet :-)

NiceCardigan · 15/02/2022 21:45

That does look warm tizwozliz!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 15/02/2022 22:32

I think your button is lovely crochetbug

That looks lovely and warm tizwozliz. It’s the best time to make big blankets as they keep you nice and warm.

I didn’t get as much crochet as I wanted done this weekend but I did have a lovely time catching up with everyone and I do now have a few projects very close to completion. It was my birthday and I got a good crochet haul (obligatory photo when I can round everything up). I may have overestimated what I could get finished but I did actually manage to get quite a few things complete or almost complete. I used some of my birthday money to buy some nice yarn but one was in a hank and so I’ve spent all evening trying to ball it up. I’ve contemplated getting a ball spinner but always decide it’s not worth it for the two times a year I’d need it. Then those two times come around and I hate myself for not being more frivolous in this area.

Fairislefandango · 16/02/2022 08:43

I've been getting a bit of knitting done at my parents'. My non-crafty mum is gratifyingly astonished by my knitting skills and says she thinks I've surpassed my grandmother Shock. I don't think that's true, it's just that I knit things she didn't attempt (like Fairisle). I'm pretty sure she was the more consistent and competent knitter!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 16/02/2022 14:18

Hi, everybody.
I love your blanket, @tizwozliz!

Besides my big stash buster blanket (random double Dk rows of g st, so mindless TV knitting) I also recently found this pattern - Baby Bunny In A Basket Crib - which I couldn’t resist. I’m making it for a very little Gdd. It’s only about 15 cm long.
Finished the basket from the stash, but was very annoyingly just a metre or so short for the handles. Luckily my order of the same colour at least 2 years later is an exact match!
