I have my wheel! She needs a bit of a clean and oil to make the wood look nice. The metal bit that goes through the centre of the wheel (the axle?) Is very rusty on either side of the wheel, but the wheel runs very smoothly. I'd rather avoid taking it to pieces if possible but I'm going to ask FIL if he thinks it needs it. He's a very talented engineer and very good at making and repairing things with moving parts!

Shock FIL is taking it apart already!

StillNiceCardigan · 21/05/2022 13:00

Very exciting @Fairislefandango I hope your FIL can work his magic!

I’m about 10 rows from finishing DD1’s blanket (and then it needs a border) but I am fed up of it. If I can push on with it I can start something more exciting.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 21/05/2022 13:07

Oh wow, that’s lovely, your pic is so much better than the one man selling it took!

Fairislefandango · 21/05/2022 13:47

Hmmm... we've hit a slight snag. FIL says the crankshaft and the 'bushings'/bearings which hold the crankshaft need replacing. I can get a crankshaft easily, but I have scoured the internet and cannot find the bushings/bearings I need.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 21/05/2022 14:06

Ooh, how about giving these guys a ring? They have a note on their spare part page saying “This is not an exhaustive list so do get in touch if you can't see what you are after. If you are unsure about the name of the part you need please send us an email with photos of the part/wheel if possible. If you have the age and/or serial number of your wheel handy that is also helpful.”

I’ve ordered from them before and they were great.

Fairislefandango · 21/05/2022 14:30

Thanks @SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound ! I've just emailed them.

Fairislefandango · 21/05/2022 16:41

They got straight back to me and I've ordered everything I need to fix it. I'm not going to get the flyer, lazy kate and bobbins until I'm sure the wheel will run ok.

SpinMeRightRoundBabyRightRound · 21/05/2022 18:07

Fantastic! Grin

Fairislefandango · 22/05/2022 17:40

I know! Thanks for the recommendation! I have left the wheel with FIL and am having the parts sent to him. They are coming up to see us in June, so he's going to refurb it and bring it to me!

Fairislefandango · 23/05/2022 08:11

Oh I hate that, @StillNiceCardigan - when a project is dragging on and you're itching to start something else!

I'm still in between projects, so I'm just doing a few crochet squares (which I keep making stupid mistakes on, and having to rip back halfway Hmm).

Fairislefandango · 23/05/2022 08:13

Btw we are nearly ready for thread 9 Shock Does anyone else feel like doing the honours when we get near 1000 posts? I'm not possessive about starting the new threads and I'm running out of title ideas Grin

CrochetBug · 23/05/2022 12:57

Gosh. Thread 9! I have no clue on a title sorry.

I've totally lost my crojo again. I've missed the deadline on my pattern tests sp feel awful for letting people down but forcing myself to do it causes disassociation. Hmm
So I'll be putting it all away for a few days.

CrochetBug · 23/05/2022 13:59

It's crochet knit and natter time
I can't think of a rhyme
Here is thread 9

Confused
Fairislefandango · 23/05/2022 16:09

😁 It doesn't have to rhyme. Anyway I'll happily start the next one if nobody has a burning desire to dream up silly titles!

Sorry you've lost your crojo, @CrochetBug. Maybe throwing some yarn around in the new thread will help to bring it back!

FIL keeps sending me photos of my spinning wheel (or 'the patient', as he refers to it!) 😁

MerylSqueak · 24/05/2022 06:55

How about ' so many projects; so little time'

In honour of all the new appointments

Or is that too negative?

I did think of 'when life gives you lemons, crochet them a basket' but I thought that was too much of a downer.

Fairislefandango · 24/05/2022 07:51

I like the 'too little time' one. It's definitely going to apply to me! On the upside, I'll have more money to spend on yarn Smile. Dh is taking a pretty hefty pay cut for his new job, so we were worrying about that quite a bit. But I'm now going to be earning (fractionally) more than him for the first time since I had my first dc!

StillNiceCardigan · 24/05/2022 13:48

Hope your crojo comes back soon @CrochetBug

i’ve finished the blanket for DD1 which is just as well as the postman brought something today!

Urgh. Covid has arrived at the Fandango household. Just dh and I have it - dc fine so far.

CrochetBug · 25/05/2022 08:05

I don't know why I thought it had to rhyme. Anyway that just popped into my head whilst I was boiling the kettle Grin

Ooohhhhh squishy mail @StillNiceCardigan lovely colours! What are you making next?

@Fairislefandango oh yuck. Hope you aren't too ill with it. When DS1 had it no one else caught it. Even unvaccinated DS2!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 25/05/2022 09:31

Too little time seems to reflect what I have going on - I’m 6 weeks behind my temperature blanket, 3 weeks behind my CAL (although I know I’m not starting that yet and it’s a Christmas present so I have time)! Dino is done though. The unicorn blanket is done but I need to do all the embellishments. My new job comes with a small pay rise even after a reduction in hours but any money will be spent on childcare but my stash is big enough anyway.

Sorry to hear you’ve lost your crojo @CrochetBug and that covid has arrived at the fandango house @Fairislefandango hopefully you don’t feel too ill with it.

@StillNiceCardigan that blanket is lovely. What’s the delivery going to be?

InTheNightWeWillWish · 25/05/2022 09:32

I wonder if my problem isn’t actually too little time or whatever the yarn equivalent is of eyes bigger than your stomach 🤔

tizwozliz · 25/05/2022 09:46

Congrats on the new jobs @InTheNightWeWillWish and @Fairislefandango

I'm over a year behind on my temperature blanket, 6 weeks is nothing!

Too much yarn, not enough hooks?
