@sophs29 he seems to like it still. He's a bit bemused by everyone else making a fuss. Teens are so odd Grin Glad you don't have covid! DS2 has a hideous cold, I've been making him test every couple of days just in case.

@lucysmam your little garland and houses are going to look so sweet!

My mum has asked me for 3 different projects which she's provided the yarn for. She wanted a hat and wrist warmers like the ones I made myself, but the pattern got totally lost so I found a different set because Im too lazy to make another set from my own imagination Grin
She also wants a set of rainbow coloured crochet hearts for the kids bedroom at her house (all the Grandchildren except my DS1 share the room and they are ages 4-15 so she's going for cream with rainbow accessories)
And a pair of baby bootees.
I'll be busy doing all that and I wanted to sort the house out this week too!

Myshitisreal · 25/10/2021 01:28

I'm working away on the 2nd cable cardigan for friend. Ill try get a pic up tomorrow if the full back piece.

Also made myself a water bottle cover for work. Very handy indeed and i used a fairly small hook, and carefully planned the handle so it was nice and strong. It's very hard to get a Photo of but I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

Would be great for making wine bottle bags as well. Very easy to adapt and nice and clean.

Sending love to those with covid /illness.
@lazylinguist when is the party? Happy birthday? Soon?

sophs29 · 25/10/2021 08:07

Haha bless him @CrochetBug thinking of you today and sending hugs Thanks

lucysmam · 25/10/2021 08:12

I hope today goes smoothly @CrochetBug Thanks

CrochetBug · 25/10/2021 11:24

Thank you both. I was wide awake at 6.30 then fell asleep again and struggled to wake up so now I'm running behind! Typical.

lazylinguist · 25/10/2021 12:21

Haven't got much time to catch up with the thread today - I'm busy making last-minute changes to arrangements for my birthday do. PIL have pulled out last-minute as they are worried about Covid, BIL is still ill and my parents are only coming for the second day as DM's not feeling good. I'm determined we're going to have a lovely time anyway though.

Only 9 rows of the sleeve left! I'd like to be able to take it and wear it, but a) weather doesn't look cold enough and b) not sure I have time to finish, blick and dry it....

Hope it went as well as a funeral can CrochetBug

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that lazy glad you're determined to have a lovely birthday anyway! 9 rows, so close! Steam blocking is very quick and means you can wear it straight away if the weather suddenly turns colder Wink

lazylinguist · 25/10/2021 13:43

Thanks Flavia!

lazylinguist · 25/10/2021 13:44

I wouldn't be soooo fussed about the blocking, but the difference it made to my last Fairisle project was massive!

lucysmam · 25/10/2021 13:56

Dd2's bunting is up. I think they need a stitch or two so they face the right way but she's happy with them 🎃👻

9 rows is so close lazy! Sorry to hear about your birthday plans changing. I'm sure it'll be great either way.

That's so cool @lucysmam!

I hope you're doing ok @CrochetBug

@lazylinguist I'm sorry your plans have had to change. Love your spirit. Can't wait to see the jumper!

Managed to start my brioche and get a line in. Brioche is prettier that I thought. I thought it would just be like a raised rib but it looks more delicate than that. I adore the wool I'm using. It's expensive but it's gorgeous and it can take some punishment!

lucysmam · 25/10/2021 16:53

Thanks @MerylSqueak. I keep smiling at it 🤣 I expected it to fall down by now tbh; dd blu-tacked it up there & I thought it might be a bit heavy. So far so good though!

I'm very very nearly half way through the ends on the LFC scarf...only ten million more left to go 🙄 Never again will I ignore them until the end I'm lying

lazylinguist · 25/10/2021 16:55

Hope the funeral went ok @CrochetBug. Flowers

@lazylinguist when is the party? Happy birthday? Soon?

My actual birthday is on Halloween itself, but that's the day before we're all back to school, so we're going to Oxford this Wednesday morning and coming back Friday afternoon. Big birthday dinner is on the Thursday evening. Oxford is a very nostalgic place for me, and I'll be revisiting lots of favourite old haunts! I don't normally do anything much for my birthday, but I figured once every 50 years it's worth a fuss. I'll do it again for my 100th Grin.

CrochetBug · 25/10/2021 18:41

Thanks all. The funeral was as lovely as a funeral can be. It's always nice to see so many people gather to share stories of a loved one. I'm a bit heartbroken at how much her husband has aged though. I haven't seen him "in the flesh" so to speak since before covid so in my head he's aged suddenly. In reality he's over 90 and just lost his soul mate.

@lazylinguist 9 rows is so close. I think I'd refuse to move until it was done Grin. Sorry to hear your birthday plans have all been messed up. Hopefully you'll still have a nice Time.

@lucysmam the bunting looks fab. Is DD pleased?

I'm going to have to scroll back to find out more about this brioche @merylsqueak

lazylinguist · 25/10/2021 18:56

Glad it went as well as it could, @CrochetBug.
I've been intrigued by brioche ever since I saw Flavia's stunning picture saved on my phone back on one of the early threads - it was an amazing colour combo too.
Have we seen the lovely wool you're using for yours Meryl ?

I seem to have spent the whole day doing laundry (plus a fruitless trip into town to try to buy ds something vaguely smart to wear to the restaurant on Thursday - but apparently 13yo boys only wear jogging bottoms and hoodies, going by what's in the shops. Not a single pair of non-jeans, non joggers trousers. Not a single actual shirt! Hmm).

Will definitely sit down and do my 9 rows soon though!

@CrochetBug I'm glad it was a nice send off Thanks
@lucysmam that bunting looks great! Love the little pumpkin faces, they'd cheer me up looking at those Grin
@lazylinguist sorry to hear the birthday plans haven't gone exactly to plan, I'm sure it will still be a great few days and be fun exploring places you love!
@MerylSqueak I'm also curious as to what yarn you're using Smile

MerylSqueak · 25/10/2021 20:34

Oo well! You only have to ask. It's this one. It's lovely and fluffy and soft but doesn't seem to pill and withstands multiple undoings. Much more expensive than my normal but it's for a present.

I don't think that the pictures capture it's gorgeousness. The green is almost electric.

I've tried to capture the weave of the brioche too. The white is just my safety line.

I'm having the same problem with trousers for DS1 lazy it's doing my head in! Anything that looks vaguely promising from a distance turns out to have skinny legs...

Ooh, that's lovely Meryl it looks so soft in the photo!

lucysmam · 25/10/2021 21:06

That does look a lovely texture Meryl.

@CrochetBug, dd is pleased with it. They've all drifted slightly through the day, so they're facing the wall now 🙄 I'll bring down my sewing bag before she gets up & gently tack them into place so they face the right way again.

I've remade the side of the cottage this evening. I think my stitch markers are a little heavy for the cotton thread but can't think of anything else to use. It's lined up properly this time though so I've fastened off & will do another at some point tomorrow.

PurpleBananaSmoothie · 25/10/2021 22:15

lazy I’m sorry your birthday plans aren’t going as you hoped. Fingers crossed you still have a lovely time though.

crochetbug I’m glad the funeral went as well as expected.

lucysmam I’m making some booties with thread and the stitch markers are definitely too heavy for it. If you have some different coloured thread you can use that as a stitch marker and pull it out after. You can also use any scrap off cuts you might have lying around. As you reach your last stitch of the round, pull your thread over the top of the stitch you’re going to work into then complete the stitch as normal.

lazylinguist · 25/10/2021 22:40

That yarn looks gorgeous, Meryl!
I've only managed a few more rows before bed time. 4 more, then the i-cord bind-off and I'm done! I'll get that done in the morning, then it's packing and a hair cut for me.

OP posts:
lucysmam · 26/10/2021 08:53

@PurpleBananaSmoothie thanks, I have lots of scrappy bits atm from the scarf. I was debating using them to stuff...something, since there's a fairly large pile. I'll try using those as markers tonight when I make the next side.

lazylinguist · 26/10/2021 10:09

Sad Now my mum's not coming to my birthday thing either. I've run out of positive spirit and am beginning to wish I'd never booked it all in the first place. Too late to cancel now though really.

Sorry for the pity party everyone. I guess I'll still have a nice time once I get there...
