meryl that’s definitely how my husband feels when I visit the yarn shop in town. We also take the dogs into town and so he gets dumped outside with both dogs right next to a bakers Grin

sophs is that the multicoloured jumper you posted? Looks lovely. I like the colours.

sophs29 · 21/10/2021 09:53

Yes @InTheNightWeWillWish thank you, I quite like the colours too, it looks like a blanket at the moment 😂 and I'm giggling inside at your poor husband trying to control two dogs next to the bakers 😭😂

CrochetBug · 21/10/2021 10:25

Hope everyone who is sick is better soon and that your birthday celebrations can go ahead @lazylinguist

Mum and I went to the local independent yarn shop yesterday that I forgot existed Grin (I'd seen it online pre covid, never managed to get there and then forgot about it). DS2 and his friend have asked for matching camo hats. I couldn't find any camo wool but found this lovely variagated green. I made a hat last night but the sizing was really odd so its been frogged and re started. (It is green although it doesn't look it)

lucysmam · 21/10/2021 12:40

Ooh @sophs29 I do like it in those colours!

Do you enjoy making hats @CrochetBug? I've been browsing hat patterns this morning while my chest freezer defrosts.

NiceCardigan · 21/10/2021 17:48

That’s lovely sophs29 I do like a minty green!

sophs29 · 21/10/2021 18:05

Thank you @lucysmam & @NiceCardigan Smile it's mostly yarn leftover from the massive CAL a few of us did on the first few threads! I was saving it for another blanket but I knew it would be a long time until I done that so thought I might as well use it!

MerylSqueak · 21/10/2021 19:05

It's very nice @sophs29

lazylinguist · 21/10/2021 19:56

Evening all. I'm sitting in front of Harry Potter 7 with the dc, plodding towards the end of my interminable jumper!

Definitely got smaller projects planned next - hat, wrist warmers, socks. I've also identified a nice-looking yarn shop in Oxford that I can visit on my birthday bash!

CrochetBug · 21/10/2021 19:59

Those colours are lovely @sophs29.

@lucysmam I don't particularly like or dislike making hats. I prefer the more complicated ones, these camo ones are just rounds of TC. But they work up quickly. I can do one in an hour if my hands are ok) so they make me feel like I've achieved something Grin

Has anyone got anything exciting planned for half term? It's my friends funeral on Monday, meeting another friend for a walk on Tuesday and that's about it for us.

lucysmam · 21/10/2021 20:07

Oh, that sounds ideal actually @CrochetBug, I didn't particularly spend hours and hours on a hat. I just fancy making one to try it iyswim.

We're not doing much. Our half term is 2 weeks this time & we've done nothing so far apart from the college open day & clearing out/deep cleaning the kitchen 🤷‍♀️

My dad's taking us for dinner tomorrow so I'm going to drag the girls in the yarn shop and Home Bargains. There was a nice candle in Home Bargains at the weekend but I couldn't carry that & the stuff we actually needed to get.

Other than that, the pantry wants clearing out & we're going to bake Christmas cakes. Nothing really exciting.

CrochetBug · 21/10/2021 21:23

this is probably the easiest hat in the world to make.

But I adore this one. My nieces and I all have it in various colors. They have matching mittens and cowls as well. I only have a hat and cowl.

Tidying and deep cleaning the whole house is the only other half term plan we have. It's DS2s birthday on Saturday though so we are going to play crazy golf. His friend is coming and apparently I'm not allowed to be weird Hmm

lucysmam · 21/10/2021 21:50

Haha, I need to inform dd1 that willy jokes are not appropriate for dinner with my dad Grin. & I can't randomly burst into song when she says a song lyric as part of conversation, if we're in public (doesn't matter what song, any lyric gets sung back to her - at full volume - if I think of it quickly enough)! We're probably weirder 🤷‍♀️ Poor dd2 spends a lot of time eye rolling at the pair of us 🤣🤣

The second one is pretty. I'll have to have a rummage through my stash & see what colours I have to maybe try it in.

I've finished the scarf; I'll lay it out flat in the morning for a picture. Then tackle the millions of ends over the weekend before I move onto ghosts for dd2's bunting 👻

sophs29 · 21/10/2021 22:17

Thank you @MerylSqueak ☺️

Thanks @CrochetBug sending you hugs for Monday!
It's my mum and sisters birthday Monday so if our results come back as negative and we're feeling better we'll be going there for the day and then no other real plans for the rest of the week, the week after we're taking the DC to butlins and I'm sooo excited for my eldest! He's going to love it!

@lucysmam I'm exactly the same if my DP says something that is a song lyric 😂 I have to sing the next line to him! He just looks at me like 'fs not this again' 😂

Myshitisreal · 22/10/2021 02:02

@sophs29 your jumper is adorable. Very cute.

Sending love to those with covid diagnosis/problems/waiting tests results.

I'm. Speeding through the cardy. I've the back and hood completed, sleeves 3/4 done. I've started the two front pieces - pockets and side pieces not begun as yet.

Off to catch up with the rest

Myshitisreal · 22/10/2021 02:09

Caron simply soft, renegade.

Thank you @Myshitisreal
Ooh is this the cardi you was asked to make by a friends partner? (Or was that someone else on this thread entirely) 😂 my memory is shocking!

lazylinguist · 22/10/2021 07:59

Wow, @Myshitisreal - I don't think I've ever sped through anything knitted or crocheted! I just don't seem to get faster as I get more experienced. I think maybe I have a very inefficient technique or something.

That jumper looks gorgeous btw @sophs29!

Kids are finished for half term. I'm still teaching today, but it's an easy one, starting with a German chat lesson in a lovely café with my two lovely adult learners! Being paid to sit in a café and chat - could be worse Grin

sophs29 · 22/10/2021 09:31

Thank you @lazylinguist ☺️ sounds like a great way to be paid 😂 I love a quiet little cafe to just sit and people watch 😳😂

CrochetBug · 22/10/2021 11:43

Surely singing lyrics at people is normal isn't it? Grin

lazylinguist · 22/10/2021 13:01

Well, it certainly is in my house @CrochetBug!

It's hair cut day!!! Other than a trim every so often (and the Last one of those was probably 2 years ago) he hasn't had it cut for at least 5 years!

MerylSqueak · 22/10/2021 17:16

Ooh post an after too!

lucysmam · 22/10/2021 17:22

I'm glad we're not the only weirdos ones who sing loudly at each other 🤣

We nipped in the yarn shop I didn't know about. Disappointing selection really -Stylecraft in every colour and weight going but nothing new to ooh and aah over. The market place shop has much more choice, in a much tinier space, so we'll go back there next time.

I didn't get the candle I wanted either but was conned into £10 worth of randomness in Home Bargains, and nail polishes in Bodycare 🤔 .

CrochetBug · 22/10/2021 17:49

It's quite a change!
