Aggghhh you all moved 😂

Thank you for the kind words on my intentionally garish cardigan. Its incredibly comfortable and warm at 1.9kg!not ended up much bigger than anticipated and is a danger around the house, swinging about, accidentally knocking things over.

I started my second cable cardigan on Friday, enclosed pics. I'm working on both sleeves at the minute, the hood is complete. The back piece I've done 9 cables out of 17.

Ive yet to make 4 pocket pieces, and sew.
2 side panels, 2 front panels. Sew it all together, then days of front post/ back post ribbing. This one feels scary. I've made 2 items of clothing so far, this is third. It's a surprise, the recipient doesn't know yet.

Im using new wool - rowan worsted superwash merino. First time.

This is the cardy I'm making for the second time. Mine was dark camo type green

I've got to go catch up with the new thread.

Shout out to @crochetbug who I know was a bit under the weather 😻😁🥰

Oooh lovely cable Myshitisreal

lucysmam · 19/10/2021 19:17

Those cables are a thing of beauty @Myshitisreal 🥰

lazylinguist · 19/10/2021 19:34

Swooning at the beautiful cables!
@lucysmam - I never weave in ends until the end either Grin

Is a tank top something I could knit as a beginner? I'd like to knit my DFiance a brightly coloured tank top for Christmas. Could anyone suggest an easy to follow pattern? It needs to be a bit garish but not a complicated pattern.

lucysmam · 19/10/2021 20:26

I honestly meant to stop at 120 rows and weave them in this time lazy...I just saw the "finish line" approaching Grin 🤷‍♀️

@DiamondBright have you knitted before?

DiamondBright · 19/10/2021 21:37

@lucysmam Not really, not since Brownies 😁 I think I can probably remember how to cast on and do a basic stitch.

lucysmam · 19/10/2021 21:44

I think then I'd maybe practise basic stitches before committing to a tank top pattern. There are probably some very simple ones out there though that'll work up quickly.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 19/10/2021 22:34

Well, with YouTube and video tutorials it probably won't be as hard as learning at brownies Diamond! There's so many good tutorials out there now. Once you can do a basic knit and purl you're sorted for most patterns really, but tbh, I'm a bit with lucysmam and would consider doing something smaller first so you can get your relearning mistakes out of the way on it or it might sicken you of knitting ever again!

Have you seen Ravelry? It's a knitting pattern database that's free to join, I put in a search that might fit what you're looking for

I’ve not quite got the 53 organza WW bags but I’ve always strived to be a top student so I’ll rectify the situation before the end of the autumn term Grin

flavia that jumper is cute. I’m sure your DS will love it. Leia and yoda will be comforters but Leia currently looks like this… so not overly comforting!

Meryl hope you’re all better soon and you don’t feel too awful.

lucysmam I don’t envy you sewing up. I’ve stalled on my Jack Skellington blanket because I’ve got to the point where I have to see the faces of Jack on the squares and then join 20 granny squares together. It’s just so much sewing!

CrochetBug · 20/10/2021 10:05

@Myshitisreal bless you. Thanks. I'm always under the weather. I'm surprised anyone puts up with me Grin

I really want to do some cabling work. Might make a scarf because I need another one

I sewed my ends in as I went on my last blanket. I felt very smug. Although on the first few rounds I felt like I spent more time sewing than I did crocheting. I sent it off to my mums to be packaged and posted to the customer and and remembered I hadn't sewn all the ends in from joining the squares. Whoops. Luckily she can sew Grin

I really want to do some embroidery. It was my first real craft, but I just can't hold a needle Sad I feel like a 90 year old! Maybe I'll book into a care home now Grin

MerylSqueak · 20/10/2021 14:29

I know what you mean. @CrochetBug. My DH came home one night to find the chdren reading with the kittens playing at their feet and me knitting in the corner. He said that if he'd told his teenage self what the future had in store he'd have run as fast as he could Grin

Love your colour match thingies (technical term) @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack

Nice cabling @Myshitisreal

I tend to see in ends when I have had enough of knitting but I'm not prepared to give up yet.

Still toying with buying Drops Andes for a blanket but really don't have the money this month. And alpaca silk for a scarf. And boucle just because...

I feel like fraud because I have had nothing to show for so long. The scarf us coming along, honest!

Thanks for your good wishes on the COVID situation. Turns out I don't have it (yet) but my children do. I just have stinking cough and cold. Officially speaking I'm fine to go to work. I went yesterday and if course everyone knows about my children and there I was coughing away. Most uncomfortable so I have taken parental leave today because I just don't want other staff to be worried as many have vulnerable people at home. School have just emailed to say my main kid has COVID too. I'm seeking clarification because it seems mad I'm expected in. I don't want to use up all my parental leave in one go. It's very stressful.

No rush on the drops sale Meryl it’s on until December 31st! www.garnstudio.com/findasale.php?id=113&cid=19

That’s mad, surely you can isolate as you have a cough?

We got a call to pick up DS1 today, his whole class were sent home because of a positive case but unless we’re notified that he’s a close contact he can go back in tomorrow and doesn’t have to get a PCR. He’s had a negative lateral flow but he’s gone to bed for a nap and he’s quite pale so I’m wondering… There’s only two days left of term and Friday is a half day anyway so I might keep him off.

Lol InTheNight I admit she’d be cuddlier with her body attached Grin

Bloody covid. My BIL has it (not too badly). He and my dsis and their dc are supposed to be coming to my big birthday bash a week today with all my extended family, hotels booked etc. He'll be out of isolation just in time (assuming he's well enough to come), but obviously there's a good chance dsis and the bots could catch it. My DF is trying to persuade me to postpone but I really don't think I can. I'll be gutted if dsis can't come (so will she)!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 20/10/2021 18:02

Oh no lazy! If it's any consolation my cousin got it but didn't pass it on to any of his family so don't lose hope yet!

sophs29 · 20/10/2021 20:30

I hope those that feel poorly feel much better soon! ☺️
We're awaiting results of a PCR test, myself and my 3 year old are so bloody ill and my almost 1 year old (can't believe he's going to one on the 1st) has just started coughing too! Praying it's just a rotten cold, I seem to forever have one since DS has been going to nursery!
On a more positive note I'm halfway through the back panel of my crazy jumper 😂 at the moment it doesn't seem like it will be too cropped so hopefully I'll get away with just following the pattern!
I was going to attach a photo but my new phone is still downloading all my photos etc so I cant right now, I'll add one when I can ☺️

lazylinguist · 20/10/2021 20:30

Fingers crossed! I am 99% sure I had it right back at the beginning of the first lockdown and dh and the dc didn't get it (or if they did they were symptomless).

OP posts:
lucysmam · 20/10/2021 21:36

I'm on the final 26 rows of scarf...getting impatient now! I'm hoping the repeat of 'YNWA' will be neater this time, it was very tight when I started . I'm going to try using fewer peg bobbins this time & try hair pins instead to hold short lengths. I don't think the weight of the pegs helps much tension wise so if I do something like this again, I'll be looking for something lighter weight.

Then there are about 7 bazillion ends to be sewn in...

I hope everyone who's feeling ill recovers quickly Thanks

InTheNightWeWillWish · 21/10/2021 03:57

Fingers crossed lazy that your birthday bash can go ahead with your sister and she doesn’t pick it up.

Sorry you feel poorly sophs hopefully it’s negative. There’s so much going round it’s hard to know what is covid and what is just an awful cold. Half of my work are down with the lurgy, just as the big bosses have said everyone needs to come back in a couple of times a week. The good news is that work are saying if you’re poorly, even if it’s not covid, keep your germs to yourself and stay home. So I’m hoping I can dodge the lurgy 🤞

MerylSqueak · 21/10/2021 07:08

I hope you're feeling better @sophs29.

Fingers crossed for you @lazylinguist I don't actually seem to have it. I'm just coughing like an old goat. My children are on top of me constantly so there's hope for your dsis.

I am starting today my sixth attempt at the green scarf. Brioche it is (at least for now).

I got word from the Head eventually to stay at home until the results of the PCR come through because of my symptoms. It's a relief (although I feel a bit guilty hoping the don't come through today - next week is half term so I don't have to worry then).

MerylSqueak · 21/10/2021 07:12

I should add, if the test does come back today I'll take more parental leave tomorrow. I've no intention of coughing all over my colleagues right now. They're too worried about loved ones at home

MerylSqueak · 21/10/2021 07:22

No intention of coughing over my colleagues while my kids have COVID, I should have said.

I clearly shouldn't post so early in the morning!

MerylSqueak · 21/10/2021 09:31

Thought you might appreciate this given its Halloween soon

🤣 Meryl I think that's how my kids feel when I drag them craft shopping! We're meeting my dad in town for lunch tomorrow so if we're early I plan to drag them in the yarn shop I didn't know existed for a browse.

sophs29 · 21/10/2021 09:46

Hahaha I love that @MerylSqueak

Photo attached (hopefully) of my jumper so far ☺️
