lazy my shawl has tassels on both sides of the triangle - there’s about 60 tassels the pattern said 🤦‍♀️ My next patterns I have the wool in for but I need to get back on with the Phoenix blanket as I intend to give that as a Christmas present and then also make some more traditional baby bits, rather than a Jack Skellington blanket.

Happy birthday to your DS crochetbug!

Hi and welcome to ForCluckSake and WeatherwaxOn! 👋

Awh, that's a shame InTheNightWeWillWish hope you get to see them soon!

Happy Birthday to your DS CrochetBug!

I'm getting on really well thanks Lucysmam Smile, I've got about 15 rows of the yoke left before I go back to the original green for the body. The original pattern has short sleeves but I think I might make them long, not sure atm, I might run out of enthusiasm for plain knitting by then!

Awww happy birthday to your DS @CrochetBug ☺️

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that jumper makes me feel very festive, I think it's the green and all the different colours 😍 I do love that green though!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 21/08/2021 20:51

Ooh, it would make a fabulous Christmas jumper, especially if made another one and changed the chevrons to baubles sophs! Smile I love that idea... I'll have loads of the variegated wool left over too...

I really want to do something chunky or Aran next I think. That hooded vest is AMAZING lazy, I love it.. We could do another KAL for it Grin

lucysmam · 21/08/2021 21:32

I finally got round to making a couple of bits for my friend's boys for their dolls house.

I've done 4 'towels' for the bathroom and two blankets & pillows for the little bunk beds.

Any ideas for something else I could whip up quickly tomorrow?

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack oh wow I love the sound of that! Wish I could knit, I need a Christmas jumper 😂

@lucysmam they are adorable! What about a circular rug? (Magic ring) ☺️ my mum got me a really expensive dolls house when I was young and I really didn't appreciate it at the time as much as I should have, it eventually went in the shed and got ruined as I grew up and now it's something I'd absolutely love to have and "decorate"! 😭

lucysmam · 21/08/2021 22:06

I've just seen your jumper pic Flavia, it's looking really good & seems to have come together quickly!

I rather like the idea of baubles instead of chevrons for Christmas too.

@sophs29 my rather expensive dolls house is in a pitiful state, in my dad's loft Blush The chimneys are here, in a box, somewhere though. Or at least one is. I always half think I should get rid when I come across it, then put it back (out of guilt, maybe? 🤷‍♀️).

A little rug is a good idea! & would be fairly quick to do in the morning. I'll pop my bag in the kitchen and do it before the girls get up.

We could Grin. My only concern is that there's a significant amount of sewing up. And i-cord edges to the pockets. Eek! Get a load of those pockets though - you could put loads of stuff in them!

That hooded vest is lovely! I've got this hoodie on my to do list, I love the faux fur trim!

Myshitisreal · 22/08/2021 01:53

I'm loving the Christmas jumper that is spectacular!

@crochetbug that hoody is something else, love the pattern. Like big seashells! Amazing. What colour will you do???

lazylinguist · 22/08/2021 08:40

Wow, that looks seriously cozy!

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack that's a lovely jumper to be. I'm in awe of colour work! @lazylinguist with your holding too.

@lucysmam you could cable a rug to practice? I've also done a baby blanket for the doll's pushchair and a throw for the sofa. Good for practising new stitches.

Hello new guys! I loved the two blankets. Lovely colours.

sophs29 · 22/08/2021 12:22

@lucysmam yes don't get rid of it!! wouldn't your girls like to decorate it? with like pretty papers for wallpapers etc or are they not into that sort of thing? I saw one in a charity shop last week for £250!! It was empty but it was magnificent tbh! It had working lights and everything!
And thanks to you, I spent about an hour last night looking at crocheted dolls house things on Pinterest 😭😂 and I now have the urge to make a miniature granny square blanket for no reason whatsoever 😂

lucysmam · 22/08/2021 15:52

That's a good idea Meryl. I haven't achieved much today so might have a look at that later on, after tea.

@sophs29, they might do - I've not really thought about it tbh. It definitely needs some tlc though. I had dreams of it having working lights, once upon a time. Just never got there 🤷‍♀️

I'm mightily pleased with my epically (is that even a word?) unproductive day; I've found a free pattern that's very similar to the advent calendar I was eyeing up on Etsy.

I should really stop collecting patterns & actually make something but 🤷‍♀️

MerylSqueak · 22/08/2021 17:26

I spend hours trawling patterns and yarns. Probably as much time as I spend knitting!

tizwozliz · 22/08/2021 17:43

Well happy to report camping was a great success despite the unforecast rain. New bell tent is lovely after years of cramped backpacking tents, I could easily sit and crochet in there once pup has been trained out of her yarn stealing ways! She tolerated her dog drying coat very well so I'm definitely thinking a Christmas scarf is a future project.

lucysmam · 22/08/2021 18:32

Different gloves or socks? I can't decide! I have decided not to frog the jumper though, for now & see if it works up quicker once I have more time to myself when the girls are back to school. If it still frustrates me then, then I'll frog

I'm going to sew up my friends gloves while I decide what to start.

lucysmam · 22/08/2021 18:33

TizWoz she looks very snug in her coat. Did she have fun camping?

sophs29 · 22/08/2021 18:41

@lucysmam I always love finding a pattern for free though 😂 I'm such a bargain Hunter! The same pattern I was going to buy last night (a crochet dog sweater for mums dogs) I found earlier for free 😂
Good idea about the jumper, I much prefer crocheting in the peace and quiet..which I don't get until about 9pm now 😑

Oh @tizwozliz she's like a little dog model, please make her a scarf! Shes so cute! 😍

lucysmam · 22/08/2021 18:48

Mine both pop in & out regularly even when everyone's settled to their own thing 🤔 for the evening. I much prefer a few hours of peace to do crafty stuff, or things for my Rainbows and Guides but dd2 especially likes to help me out 🙄

lucysmam · 22/08/2021 20:30

If a pattern doesn't state gauge, & calls for a 4.25mm hook, but you have a 4mm or 4.5mm, which do you go for??

Dd2's picked the socks so I'm going to start them. I'm going for the 4.5mm, since I'm likely to wear them for bed, but just wondered what everyone else would do?

sophs29 · 23/08/2021 07:36

@lucysmam before, I probably would have gone up a size as I used to crochet really tight but recently I've tried making the effort to crochet a bit looser and I've enjoyed it more! I suppose it doesn't overly matter just means they'll either be a bit smaller or bigger!
How did the socks start? I started another pair last night too 😂

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 23/08/2021 08:27

Awh tiztwoliz she looks very content! Glad you're camping went well, you've broken the camping jinx for us all hopeully Grin Have you seen the woman who knits her dog jumpers on Instagram btw? www.moderndailyknitting.com/2019/01/16/custom-dog-sweaters-formula/ no pressure but I think you should both have matching jumpers Grin

8 rows left on my yoke, I flew though it last night and now I need to try it on. I made it bigger than usual and I'm pretty sure my gauge has slipped a bit so fingers crossed.

tizwozliz · 23/08/2021 08:33

@lucysmam - yes she loved camping. Although I think part of the attraction was sleeping on top of us (at home she sleeps downstairs). I'm going to attempt to get some crochet done today, have a half finished whale that needs to be completed

lazylinguist · 23/08/2021 09:41

Glad someone's camping went well Grin.

I've just finished the last row of my shawl. Just need to do the excellent but time-consuming 'Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off' (I'm guessing all you knitters are familiar with that one?) and then make the 3 tassels (which must be quite chunky, as they each use 30 strands!).
