lazy cats definitely have friends. They can also have boyfriends! Our neighbour’s cat has a frequent gentleman caller. She doesn’t care about being spotted out with her beau and proudly struts when he’s over. He is less proud. Every time we see him, he scarpers out of sight. I figure he’s either very shy or he’s got another lady cat and he’s not meant to be visiting our neighbour’s cat Grin

Oh they are all so cute!

I can't believe the duck has survived this long tiztwoliz! That an testament to excellence if ever there was one Grin

Rowan do seem to have a knack for maximizing the amount of wool you have to buy for patterns and leaving loads over! My DM looked at a Rowan pattern in felted tweed that used a tiny fraction of the colours it called for. She ended up substituting Drops Lima I think.

lucysmam · 30/09/2021 21:06

I'm just catching up with the thread now. @CrochetBug the diet stuff sounds confusing & a lot to get your head around! Walking with your friends dog sounds like a good way to spend time though. He looks very strokeable.

Love the other pup pictures too. @InTheNightWeWillWish yours looks happy in that photo :) The brocolli story tickled me Grin

@tizwozliz the duck's doing well!

lucysmam · 30/09/2021 21:11

Ooh, I meant to say, @lazylinguist I'd love to know how your spinning course goes. It sounds really interesting, and quite relaxing to do the actual spinning part too.

lazylinguist · 30/09/2021 21:48

Oh don't worry - I'm sure I'll be bouncing into the thread a week on Sunday, full of what I've learned @lucysmam Grin

I want to know about the spinning too !

I'm a big fan of Drops yarn (apart from Eskimo which they've renamed something else). They do a tweed one although I've not used it.

lazylinguist · 30/09/2021 22:24

I love Drops yarn too! It's my go-to when I want to make a larger project, because it's such good value for natural fibre.

I use drops for my amigurumi a lot because it's possibly the cheapest cotton out there. It's fab!

CrochetBug · 30/09/2021 22:46

Almost finished my blanket. Just the rest of the border to go. I'm a little in love with it!

Is it Alaska Meryl? I was looking at that for a jumper but I haven't used it before. I like 2 ply wools. What didn't you like about it?

MerylSqueak · 01/10/2021 06:52

Googling it I think it is @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack. I was going to use it for a blanket. It wasn't very soft -almost stiff even. Lots of knitters on the Drops FB group like it though. I used it for a shower mat in the end. I probably have an end somewhere if you want me to send you a bit.

NiceCardigan · 01/10/2021 08:40

The tweed drops yarn looks nice and so I’ll get some of that for my sweater. Sadly I haven’t got a spare £90 for the Rowan version.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 01/10/2021 09:33

Ooh, I see Meryl... Have to admit, that doesn't sound very comfortable! It looked so bouncy in the picture. I'll be passing by the wool shop over the weekend probably so I'll have a squish but thank you Grin

I like the sound of the tweed NiceCardigan!

I kind of choke at the Rowan £££ prices when Drops is just so reasonable and good quality.

MerylSqueak · 01/10/2021 10:10

Actually I was wrong@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack. Actually I think they're calling it Snow now. Polaris and Andes are both lovely on the heavier side of yarns.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 01/10/2021 10:35

Ahh, thanks! I'm off to have a nosy at all of those now.

lucysmam · 01/10/2021 16:39

We've just been to pick Errol up; he's currently stood in the middle of the dining table but will be living with dd2's favourite photo of him when he goes upstairs.

I'm quite relieved he's still in one piece tbh, his right raptor arm dried in a very strange position & the lady who pinned him used several techniques to loosen him up to move him.

@lucysmam Wow! That's so pretty. For a dead creature. Is DD "happy" with it?

lucysmam · 01/10/2021 18:31

She is, thanks @CrochetBug. He's gone upstairs now. A colleague thought I'd pinned him but I'm definitely not brave enough to try that on on something so precious to dd2!

It's still weird checking where his house should be & him not hanging about there!

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 01/10/2021 21:18

I'm glad it turned out as a good job lucysmam.

How'd you get on today CrochetBug? I hope you got some useful info!

lazylinguist · 01/10/2021 21:38

Errol looks beautiful!

News in the linguist household is that my mum's scans came back clear, much to everyone's surprise and relief! Great news, but back to the drawing board as far as what's causing her symptoms. Possibly coeliac disease...

OP posts:
FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 01/10/2021 22:29

Oh that's wonderful news lazy! Wine Coeliac disease wouldn't be a barrel of laughs but at least it would be manageable...

lazylinguist · 01/10/2021 22:44

Yes, true Flavia. I can't think why I hadn't thought of it before tbh, having been tested for coeliac myself. It turns out that various other health issues she's had over the past year or so are very common symptoms of coeliacs too.

OP posts:
MerylSqueak · 02/10/2021 08:19

Good news @lazylinguist Smile

lazylinguist · 02/10/2021 10:56

Thanks, yes it definitely is, Meryl
Only a few more rows of my first Goldwing sleeve to go! I'm liking the Fairisle cuff. Hopefully the icord bit at the end will be easier than I'm expecting. I'd like to have finished it and worn it on my spinning course - it's cold up there! (I live only just outside the Lake District National Park, but it's at least a 1hr 45 min drive to the bit where the course is!). Never mind - I'll take it and knit in the evening!

CrochetBug · 02/10/2021 11:12

Oh @lazylinguist I'm so happy for you and your Mum. My mum is gluten intolerant. (Which is similar but not the same I think.) It's a pain but not the end of the world.

@FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack I may have got my days mixed up and missed my appointment. That threw my whole day off and I was tense and on edge all day. Then I went to bed at 8.30 Shock
