Happy Birthday to him lazy! But flip, you might have to watch out for cold water shock if he falls in!

DH has had the kids out building mini snowmen this morning but it's all melted now. I had a lazy morning skeining and soaking the wool I spun, it was lovely.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 06/04/2021 10:50

It's completely uncool if you're a teenager probably but I used to wear a skullcap under my helmet when I was kayaking in winter, it was a terrifying looking thing but so good for saving your head and ears!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 06/04/2021 10:59

Happy birthday to your son lazy. Bet he wasn’t expecting ice on the pond on his birthday on the 6th April Shock

lazylinguist · 06/04/2021 11:10

Well @InTheNightWeWillWish - it snowed on the day he was born!

Happy birthday to lazy Jr.

I remember camping in the snow one Easter weekend. A couple of years later it was so hot camping that all the DC had a mass water fight.

I asked my mum how easy it would be to mix and match sizes on a jumper pattern. My bust measurement is XL, my shoulders are XS/S Confused. She told me to lose weight. HmmGrin

lucysmam · 06/04/2021 18:14

Happy birthday to your ds lazy, I hope he's had a lovely day 🎂

@CrochetBug I can do it with a dress/top pattern so can't see why you couldn't do it with a jumper.

I can't remember who posted the video on the previous page Blush sorry! Interesting how she changes putting the hook through from behind. I haven't actually got to the 2nd sleeve yet so might have a go at that tomorrow along with CrochetBug's method & see which looks better.

It would have been done but it actually needs an extra 10 or so rows so I've frogged right back from the armhole to about 3/4 of the way up, so the extra rows don't interfere with the shoulder increases.

If I get that done tonight, I'm going to write out the pattern for the sweater for myself, so I don't have to unlock my phone constantly (well, every row) to check what I'm doing next.

I plan to start that once I've finished the cardi.

lazylinguist · 06/04/2021 19:24

We just had a birthday bbq for ds. While dh was lighting the bbq it was snowing!

We’ve had snow here too lazy. Happy Birthday to your DS.

CrochetBug · 06/04/2021 22:21

I started making this jumper, but I'm not feeling it. I don't know if I need a different yarn, or a smaller hook, but the pattern doesn't seem as clear as in the original.

Thoughts please? I'd rather frog it and start again now rather than when I've done loads. Or am i just being over fussy as usual Confused

Happy Birthday mini lazy! My DS was 11 yesterday - no idea how that happened, I'm sure he only started school a couple of years ago! Fortunately he's apparently not too old for a Lindt Bunny hunt round Hampton Court, so we did that in the sunshine yesterday - I think we've been a bit luckier in the South and had sun with the cold weather.

CrochetBug I have no idea how easy it would be, but I don't see why you couldn't, it just might need a lot of trying on as you go to see if the sizing is right - I'd be worried about weird bulges. But I think your relationship with your mum sounds lovely (I assume that's tongue in cheek!).

lazylinguist · 07/04/2021 06:51

Belated happy birthday to your ds too, @BookShark! They grow up so fast!

@CrochetBug - I think the pattern shows up fine. Maybe it won't look as clear to you until there's more of it done iyswim.

I'm up a bit early this morning- couldn't go back to sleep, so I've come downstairs to knit/crochet. I managed to weave in about three quarters of my CAL ends last night, so should be able to finish that and finally start the border today- woo hoo!

OP posts:
lazylinguist · 07/04/2021 18:04

Round one of the border done! Still looks a bit wibbly along the side edges, but I remember from my last one that it took a few rows of border to really neaten it up.

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 07/04/2021 18:09

Ooo exciting @lazylinguist mine was wobbly after the 1st round of border too. It did straighten up though.

I was up early (for me anyway) today as I'd arranged to go out. I should have managed to get loads of crochet done since coming home but my ex has put me in a bad mood and I'm all unsettled. Ho hum.

lazylinguist · 07/04/2021 18:35

I'm just doing 4 rounds of dc in white as the border, like I did on my Seaside Stashbusting Blanket, followed by a white fringe on each end. My KAL cushion has rather taken a backseat for a bit, as I'm so keen to get the blanket finished and allow myself to go to the yarn shop next week to get the wool for my jumper!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 07/04/2021 18:38

My KAL had ground to a halt because I cannot find the 2nd knitting needle anywhere Confused

My mum otoh has finished 3 and is now adapting the pattern to make it different to the one she has made Grin

lazylinguist · 07/04/2021 18:56

3 Shock. I'm so slow at the cable bits! Have you checked down the sides of tye sofa for your needle? That's where mine go. I actually stabbed myself in the thigh with the cable needle the other day Hmm because I'd put it down and it slid and wedged itself between the side of the sifa cushion and my leg! Not enough to draw blood, but it really hurt! #KnittingInjuries

I hate when you lose something but you know it's in the house somewhere you just don't know where! I'm forever putting things in a safe place too and then never finding them again Grin

CrochetBug · 07/04/2021 19:20

Exactly @sophs29. I lost one of mum's needles by putting it in a safe place. It turned up a week later Grin
It's probably fallen into a yarn box/bag or my fabric box or something. I just don't have the mental energy to empty them looking for it. Not today at any rate. Maybe one day I'll have as many knitting needles as I do crochet hooks and then I'll always have spares Grin

lucysmam · 07/04/2021 19:49

The first place I check if I lose something is down the sides of my chair, I'm quite often surprised what else I find too tbh!

I tried to post earlier on but MN had a 'moment' & didn't want to 🤷‍♀️ first sleeve is done. The increases seem a bit weird -I'm not entirely sure why there are two, at the elbow, separated by 4 rows. It looks slightly weird.

But, it's done so I'm going to pin in place tonight. & I'm going to start on replacing the plastic pins with yarn markers on dd2's blanket so I can use them again to track how far I get this month.

Any opinions on which font is most similar to use for the patch? The actual font is freely downloadable but I wouldn't know where to start making an actual patch myself Confused

lucysmam I think the Jakarta is the closest font. MN seems to be having a ‘moment’ every time I try and post.

sophs29 · 08/04/2021 07:31

Wow @lucysmam the blanket looks stunning! Is that the Poundland yarn? I love the effect!

And I'd be inclined to say 13. Lucida Calligraphy but obviously it's not exact!

lazylinguist · 08/04/2021 07:34

I'd say the Lucida Calligraphy too, @lucysmam.

OP posts:
lucysmam · 08/04/2021 09:38

I've tried both in Word & Lucida's "r" is closer than Jakarta so I'm going to go with that.

sophs yes, that's the PL yarn, It's pretty. Dd2's looking forward to using the blanket eventually!

CrochetBug · 08/04/2021 10:51

That blanket is beautiful @lucysmam
