crochetbug half you decided to wait and see before frogging it. The blue looks lovely. Are those colours from ‘the’ order?

sophs it’s a good thing to only focus on one thing, it means you’re task orientated. Crochet is confirming to me that I do not have a long attention span and I’m a bit of a planner but not so much with the delivery Grin

InTheNightWeWillWish · 05/04/2021 08:35

MN wouldn’t let me upload this last night. The Phoenix blanket so far.

Also the comment above to crochetbug should be glad you decided not to frog it. Bloody autocorrect 🙄

My current 3 WIPs are the CAL blanket, the KAL cushion cover, and my Sockhead Cowl which is super simple (just a tube of stocking stitch with a bit of rib at the top and bottom).

Next of my list are that beautiful Jennifer Steingass jumper (attached) and something from my Harry Potter knitting book. I'd like another crochet project as my third - I'm thinking either that stashbuster basket with lots of yarns held together or some coasters/placemats.

I think I'll go for the jumper next when I finish the CAL though. I finished the last row last night, but had kind of forgotten I need to weave in all the ends before I can do the border. Grrr!

I finished my new hat last night, it's a really tight gauge with mohair and wool knit together so it's toasty, which is handy because it's snowing on and off this morning.

I've got two WIP's left now. A t-shirt I've been working on for about 2 years and a cardigan I started last month. I think I know which one I'll finish first Grin

lucysmam · 05/04/2021 11:28

That looks lovely InTheNight.

Lazy the jumper's lovely; is it complicated?

My black aran's just been delivered, and some "green tea" dk that I fancied the colour of for something Grin. I'm on with seaming the sides, then some blanket. Truly laaaazy day planned, including just crochet and chocolate.

Then tonight I'll start the sleeves.

I have questions though before starting the sleeves - do I need to turn the first round once I ss it into a circle? Or just join and carry on? & can I carry up the black like for the blanket since there are only two rows of it?

InTheNightWeWillWish · 05/04/2021 12:58

lucysmam is the green tea from deramores own range? I have some of that colour, I used some in my CAL actually. It’s a lovely colour! I’ve spent way too long trying to find a project to just use that wool.

Lovely jumper lazy. Ahh the ends! On your extended CAL it’s going to take you forever too. As soon as you finish the CAL though, the sooner you can’t start your jumper Grin

flavia do the cardigan as you’ve got the magic touch with the weather. If you finish your T-shirt, it might never be sunny ever again!

lucysmam · 05/04/2021 13:13

InTheNight, it is the Deramores green tea. It spoke to me Grin. No idea what it may become yet but that's ok!

Shoulder and side seams are done. Very pleased with myself! I'm going to have a coffee and pinch dd1's pot noodle then some rows of blanket.

The comments on Ravelry suggest that the jumper is pretty easy to follow, @lucysmam. I really enjoyed making the lettlopivest sleevelees one with the colourwork yoke, so hopefully this will go well too.

Can I canvas your opinions on colours, everyone? I was originally going to buy some Cascade 220 for the jumper, but I really like the idea of buying some yarn from the local-ish shop I linked to upthread.

What do you think of these two colours for the Goldwing jumper I posted? And which would you do as the main body colour?

Yes it's another blanket @sophs29. I can't stop making them Grin
I'm glad I stuck with it too. Sometimes the colours just don't look right until you've added them all.

@lucysmam that cardigan looks fab@ does the pattern say to turn for the sleeves or work in spirals? 2 of the the cardigans I made the sleeves were made flat and then sewn up, one was made with Turned rounds. Depending on the stitch used I would work in continuous spirals if possible. You could carry the black up but I guess there's a danger you'll catch your hand on it as there'll be a thread running up inside the jumper.

@lazylinguist those colours are gorgeous. But I have no idea what way round I would use them Grin

lazylinguist · 05/04/2021 14:34

Glad you like them! As you all know by now, I am a bit... conservative with colours, so this would be quite a bold combo for me! It reminds me a little bit of the colour combo in @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack 's amazing brioche project, which can only be a good thing!

Oh @InTheNightWeWillWish task orientated I'll remember that - thank you

@lazylinguist lovely colours, I'd use the blue as the accent colour

And @CrochetBug I surprisingly got the blanket bug when doing the CAL!

@lucysmam looks great!

sophs29 · 05/04/2021 14:47

MN removed all my smiley faces haha, I didnt mean for that message to look so blunt 😂

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 05/04/2021 15:33

Ooh, nice lazy, funny, I was looking at their yarn earlier, I think they popped up because they're taking part in virtual Wonderwool maybe?

That's tricky picking the MC... I think I'd maybe go blue on brown... What colour is more flattering on your skin? I'd put that on the top!

Nice lucysmam! It looks really complicated!

Ok InTheNightWeWillWish Grin will do!

lucysmam · 05/04/2021 15:51

@CrochetBug it doesn't actually say to turn it at any point 🤷‍♀️ We'll see - I'm going to see how it goes in continuous rounds without the slipstitches.

@lazylinguist I think I agree with sophs about using the blue as the accent colour.

I've done four more rows of blanket, that'll do for today. It's getting quite awkward to turn every new row & anoying me a bit.

CrochetBug · 05/04/2021 16:19

If it doesn't say to turn it then I would assume you don't.

That's the thing with blankets, they spend ages being too wide for the length and getting twisted because there's no substance to them.
Then they feel like blankets for about 11.6 seconds. Then they are too big and heavy to turn and they are annoying again Grin

lucysmam · 05/04/2021 16:52

I think I need the slipstitches for the sleeves maybe

sophs29 · 05/04/2021 17:09

@lucysmam that's one thing I hate about working in a spiral 😭 on my amigurumi elephant, the look of how the colours don't line up is doing my head in!

CrochetBug · 05/04/2021 17:41

There are ways to eliminate the colour jumps when working in the round. The most effective one I've found is to do the last stitch of the round as a ss and change to the new colour. Then do the 1st stitch of the new round as a ss as well. It's not perfect, but it's the best I've seen.

lucysmam · 05/04/2021 18:25

What method do you use to pick up the new colour CrochetBug? I went back & re-did it with the slipstitches & cut the black with a loooooooong tail in case I decide to go back again after I've been in the shower.

lucysmam · 05/04/2021 20:41

Not perfect by any means but much better than it was earlier on so I'm happier with it & will carry on

Knit, Crochet and Natter 4 - Yarning into Spring
CrochetBug · 05/04/2021 21:12

I pick up the new colour on the last stitch of the round. So go into the last stitch, the ss with the new colour.

lucysmam · 05/04/2021 22:06

Thanks for explaining; I don't think dd will notice if I experiment so I'll try that way on the second one.

I might need an extra row or two for length though. I'm almost half way through & it doesn't seem very long. We'll see again 🤷‍♀️

Myshitisreal · 05/04/2021 23:21

@lucysmam I think a video like this might be helpful?apologies if I've picked you up wrong

lazylinguist · 06/04/2021 10:37

My youngest is officially a teenager Shock. 13 today! We got him a stand-up paddleboard for his birthday and we are debating whether it's too cold for him to have a go this afternoon. Glorious sunny day here, but there's ice on the garden pond...
