Oh that's not bad is it @lucysmam lovely colours!

NiceCardigan · 30/01/2021 19:00

Here you go @lazylinguist the pattern is Goldenfern. I chose this one because the pattern is round the bottom so l thought it would be a good starter one. I’m working on the ferns at the moment in shades of grey. I find choosing colours really difficult online so I hope it looks ok when knitted.

It's looking great, @NiceCardigan! I love the colour combo.

I only started it last Saturday so very pleased with how quickly it knits up (or it may be that nothing else has been done!)

givemebooks · 30/01/2021 20:18

No progress on the CAL today hope to get started om part 2 tomorrow, but I did finish my sons blanket and I am very pleased my first ever larger project and he loves it! It needs spraying and flattening but he just wanted it right away ha!!

givemebooks a sign that the recipient likes your work if they can’t wait for finishing touches! The blanket is lovely and I’m glad your son likes it.

No crochet for me today. We needed to deep clean and organise the kitchen. And because my kitchen is so old and shit, any rigorous movement in my kitchen involves some first aid. Today’s first aid was to glue the kitchen drawer back together, place the worktop back over the cupboard and fix a cupboard door. I also had what resembles a social life earlier this morning in that I had to go to the post office! So much fun getting in the way of my crochet! Hmm I’m hoping tomorrow I can get on with part two of the CAL but my arm is sore. Probably a bit from crochet, a bit from my desk chair being the wrong height and a bit from having the kitchen drawer collapse on me. So I’m resting and having some medicinal wine. I’m going to read through part two and YouTube any stitches I don’t know though.

That looks great @lazylinguist

InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/01/2021 22:19

That’s looks really nice lazy

lucysmam · 30/01/2021 22:25

InTheNight your kitchen sounds as old & knackered as mine is! I hate it (but spend most of my day at my beautiful table in there Hmm ).

Crewmate Bob (I very nearly typed Nob Blush ) is finished. His backpack is a little pocket - the only thing to hand to sort of show its pocket-ness was the lid to my candle Grin

InTheNightWeWillWish · 30/01/2021 22:46

@lucysmam yeh we were trying to work out how old it is. I think it was put in in the 80s so 30-40 years old. The cabinets are all in imperial measurements anyway and the wood is starting to rot but it needs so much work doing to it, we can’t afford it and have a little bit of not being able to see the wood for the trees with it. We know we want more storage space and it’s a big area but can’t work out how the two combine, when it should be so simple. I very nearly typed Nob blush is that your true feelings about the among us crew coming out now after making so many? Grin

So I’ve got enough projects in the pipeline to keep me busy until the summer but still I’m poking around looking for more patterns. And I stumbled across this catherinescrochetcorner.co.uk/2018/01/03/the-starry-night/. This is a crochet version of the painting starry night. Done in free form crochet 🤯

Hi, can I join please?
I've been crocheting on and off for about 10 years, learnt to knit when a few friends had babies, and made some pretty cute booties. I prefer crochet, I made some hats for Christmas gifts, and I'm currently repairing a friend's much-loved stashbuster blanket their nan made them (the yarn has felted and then frayed in one colour leaving a huge hole).
I want to make a temperature blanket for my son's first year - hes 13 months so I've already got my temps and ordered my yarns. It will be my biggest project ever, trying to plan it so it doesn't turn into one of those ginormous house-sized temperature blankets...

Welcome aboard, Nervousdave! I think a few posters on here have done temperature blankets.

CrochetBug · 30/01/2021 23:53

Love Bob @lucysmam. He's very colourful.

Also loving the blankets @givemebooks and @lazylinguist.
That starry nights crochet is another level @InTheNightWeWillWish Shock
Welcome @Nervousdave. I wanted to do a temperature blanket for a baby's first year. But the baby wasn't to be. Ho hum.

I'm half way through the victory puffs on the CAL. Should be able to finish part 2 tomorrow, unless this migraine that is threatening to appear appears. Gah.

Myshitisreal · 31/01/2021 04:42

Sending hugs to all and welcome to the newbies.

Cat bed 2 completed for my brother. Little pocket with a catnip pouch added, not sure if the photos are in the order I would like ffs

I've bought the Jennifer Steingass Goldwing jumper pattern (thanks to Flavia for the heads-up about the discount). I probably won't start it until I've finished the CAL, but the temptation might be too much for me Grin.

I don't have a clue which colours to get for it though! The ones in the original picture are reasonably muted, but I fancy doing something a bit bolder for once! I was thinking of using Cascade 220, which has a massive range of colours. Any suggestions for good contrasting two-colour combos very welcome!

Flowers Crochetbug I hope you managed to stave off the migrane..

You're welcome lazy I love picking colours vicariously! I had a look and my favourites are
Heather and storm cloud heather or Crushed grape and aspen heather or
Lake Chelan heather and natural

I can't wear dark reds without looking washed out but I do love them so much.

tizwozliz · 31/01/2021 10:31

I'm crocheting whilst doing the big garden birdwatch this morning. Currently trying to decide if fat robin and skinny robin count as two robins even though i've not seen them at the same time.

CrochetBug · 31/01/2021 10:39

Thanks @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack luckily I had aspirin in the first aid box! They usually work and didn't let me down.

@tizwozliz DS2 loves Robins! He still gets so excited when he sees one. He's 14 Grin
I say 2 different robins count as 2.

lazylinguist · 31/01/2021 10:43

I quite fancy something with blue or green. I like the colour combo in this person's bersoon of the jumper, which I think I could replicate with Cascade 220 in Blue Velvet and Straw. www.ravelry.com/projects/missviv/goldwing

Fat Robin and Skinny Robin have just had a fight so can definitely put them down as two now :-)

Fat Robin is our garden supervisor, as soon as you are out doing anything in the garden he'll be nearby, keeping an eye on things.

CrochetBug · 31/01/2021 12:07

Part 2 finished. And here's the whole thing so far.

Who posted the link to the hearts with arms and legs? I can't remember & can't find it now...I wasn't bright enough to save the webpage.🙄

lucysmam · 31/01/2021 14:55

Never mind, it's in this thread, not the previous one where I was looking. I found it & saved it now!

Love seeing the progress on the CALs - I am always impressed by crocheting as it is a mysterious art to me! Exactly like that Starry Night pic...

@lucysmam I love Bob, that is so cool. The colors are wonderful.

@lazylinguist that jumper is wonderful. It feels so beyond my capabilities. I think I need to knit a simple jumper for me and get over my fear of sleeves and sewing together before I even consider something like that.

Today we have snow, we are supposed to get about 8 inches altogether, so I plan to go and hide in my knitting corner and keep busy.
