@MutteringDarkly - well, no worries there. There are plenty of people on here to advise if you get stuck!

I'm just settling down to some more CAL blanket. It's beautifully sunny here and I'm feeling a bit sleepy after a long walk, a bit of yoga and a lovely bubble bath. Looking forward to roast beef made by dh for dinner!

@lazylinguist that sounds perfect. If I pm you my address then your dh can drop me some roast beef? Grin

sophs29 · 28/02/2021 19:10

I agree with @CrochetBug about your CAL @lazylinguist definitely classy! so simple yet stunning!
I haven't had a chance to do any crochet, I've made the most of the lovely weather and been gardening all weekend! I'm now having a bubble bath and hoping I'll be able to get some done tonight whilst DP watches the football!

tizwozliz · 28/02/2021 20:10

Sunday night stash busting making hexagons with leftover scrappy bits of yarn. Not sure what I'll do with them yet, but neater to store than lots of little remains of yarn

I'm sure dh would be delighted to, @CrochetBug - he likes an appreciative audience for his cooking skills. Grin

Thank you @sophs29 - I shall definitely call my colour choices classy rather than boring then!

Sorry @CrochetBug but I think you’re the only one to complete the CAL so far. When you did the second round of the border, did your corners become more rounded, opposed to a nice straight corner? I have got to my first corner, I’m treating the corner space as the two htr v in the stitch, so the stitch before has htr v, ch2, htr v. The corner space is htr v, ch 2, htr v in htr v one, then htr v, ch2, htr in the second htr v of the corner space. Then the stitch after that corner space is also htr v, ch2, htr v. Then I go back to htr v, ch 1, htr v.

CrochetBug · 28/02/2021 22:39

The corner space is the chain 2 from the previous round.

So you should do htr v in the last htr v from round 1,
then htr, chain 2 htr in the chain 2 space, (round 2 doesn't have v stitches in the corners)
then htr v in the next htr v from round 1.

Mine were definitely rounding off by then

Thanks crochetbug, I could not work it out.

lucysmam · 01/03/2021 10:45

I've just done my first magic knot but I'm too chicken to cut the ends in case it unravels 🤣

CrochetBug · 01/03/2021 11:52

No worries @InTheNightWeWillWish. I assume my instructions made sense Grin

Oooo be brave @lucysmam and report back!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 01/03/2021 12:05

@CrochetBug yes it does but I did a htr v in the stitches when I wasn’t meant to. Fortunately I knew it wasn’t right and so I only did about 3 stitches after the corner Grin

lucysmam · 01/03/2021 13:37

I cut them & finished my row - so far so good!

PlinkPlink · 01/03/2021 14:35

@lazylinguist how about some cushion covers? 😂 I know you said you've already got a blanket from the CAL.

These have got some really nice patterns...

Or are you thinking something clothes orientated?

I looked at knitting some blankets for NICU babies too... might do that as a personal project though.

tizwozliz · 01/03/2021 14:46

I could be tempted to learn to knit for an easy cushion cover pattern....

lazylinguist · 01/03/2021 18:07

Oooh I really like those cushion covers, @PlinkPlink! A couple of those would look lovely on my bed with my grey and white CAL blanket. Dh is very anti decorative cushions on the bed. He thinks they are utterly pointless and stupid, but what does he know! Grin

lazylinguist · 01/03/2021 18:08

And actually... I have an unbelievably dull dark grey armchair downstairs which would definitely be improved by a lovely knitted cushion...

PlinkPlink · 01/03/2021 18:46

I love decorative cushions! Is there any more satisfying feeling than making up a bed with matching sheets, blanket and cushions?

... I need to get out more.

Lovely! I'm well up for these! I'll buy the pattern tomorrow and double check I've got everything required. Maybe buy some more wool Grin

Scoobygang7 · 01/03/2021 19:06

Everyone's cals are looking great.

I've nearly finished my hat. I've ordered and received my wool for my next project. I am doing this neon jumper pattern, but going with Mc petrol. Ordered extra to try and make both my boys a jumper each and some sock cotton to try some socks too.

Ok, anyone else up for the cushion covers as a KAL? I might even have wool in my stash to make one!

@CrochetBug, fancy a go at a cushion cover as your first knitting project?! I still really want to make that cowl that @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack posted at some point though!

CrochetBug · 01/03/2021 19:19

Ooo I love those cushion covers! I have knitted before. Well I say knitted, I made a small square but couldn’t get further than that... I’m tempted to go on Amazon and buy some knitting needles to join in Grin but I really can’t afford it this month!

I was really liking my house yesterday as I’ve created a craft cupboard - - under the stairs cupboard, hence the ironing board and not pictured the hoover - -. Everything on the white shelves is yarn though. In an ideal world, I’d probably arrange everything by colour and take an instant worthy picture but it’s a dusty house so things are safer in boxes and organza bags. However, today my house decided to let me down. We’re having some news doors put in and the bottom of the old is rotten so we’ve got a massive hole now and have had several panicked phone calls today.
