Multi-coloured is good!

I'm really keen on giving this a go (Pinterest screenshot) but think I need it open on the laptop to properly read it; and a bit more practise first since it'd be an expensive project!

Wow - that's beautiful, @lucysmam! I think I've heard people mention that pattern before.

Sophies Universe has been on my to do list forever. But I can't decide on a colour scheme so it's never been done Grin

petridishmystery · 01/02/2021 23:35

@lazylinguist

Wow - it's getting very booby, what with boob hearts and boob lights. Grin
The loom I used to make my sock is marketed for making the knitted knockers, which are inserts for ladies who have had mastectomies. I must use it to actually make one next!
lucysmam · 02/02/2021 07:26

I expect I will have the same problem CrochetBug!

We have a snow day so I don't need to leave to supervise breakfast in ten mins, or at lunch time, which means I have almost an extra 4 hours to myself today. I could fill it sensibly with housework/cleaning or whatever else. But I think I will fill it with crochet, and yarn browsing (and maybe google to see if I can fix the broken laptop myself).

tizwozliz · 02/02/2021 08:37

We have a snow day

Jealous, we have enough that it's too slushy and slidy for running but not enough to be any fun

lazylinguist · 02/02/2021 09:00

We've woken up to snow too, but it doesn't really make any difference to our day. I'm not working atm anyway, dh is working from home except Mondays when he's on the rota to be in school and the dc are obviously at home. They have a 'consolidation week' this week with no new school work set, just catching up with anything they're behind on. There are optional enrichment tasks for any kids whi have nothing to catch up on!

tizwoz dd2 is dressed & ready to dive out the door at her break time, before the rain's forecast that'll turn it slushy then icy Grin.

lazylinguist it doesn't make that much difference here really, except the part where I don't have to leave the house.

Dd1's Spanish class has just been cancelled so she's happy but doesn't want to play in the snow 🤷‍♀️

lazylinguist · 02/02/2021 09:24

It doesn't look like play-in-able snow here. Not much of it and already a bit wet looking. The sky is iron-grey, misty and windy. We're definitely in for more precipitation, but I think it will be rain not snow. Sad

We have no snow. But that's not unusual! I can't be bothered to get another ball of my lovely pink/grey/brown yarn out for my granny square - its right at the bottom of the cupboard.

So I'm finishing my rainbow blanket instead. I'm hoping one more repeat of the rainbow and reverse will be enough!

lucysmam · 02/02/2021 09:43

I've just been looking at the Sophie's Universe CAL on Pinterest again - I had the laptop to the recovery menu then the battery died so I'm waiting for it to get there from the black screen it's currently on again.

There are some very nice ones made with yarn cakes/whirls. Maybe I should do that with mine & buy a couple more.

Or with the rainbow yarn dd2's claimed for her blanket -I'm not quite sure I have enough for that though.

lucysmam · 02/02/2021 11:30

Well, best part of my morning off spent on the phone to HP for them to decide the laptop needs to be fixed in person & a new hard drive installed. For the princely sum of £253 🤯🤯🤯🤯 I reckon we could buy one for not hugely much more than that so will have a look later on.

Now for an afternoon of crochet!

Thanks all ♥ for my Brothers kitty. Wouldn't put in so much work for many cats other than my own. The blanket is a surprise.

Any CALs on the go???

I read chat about Sophies universe. I considered it but chose mosaic instead for now . I think it's one a to really deep dive and get stuck into.

Have to confess I've removed this from my basket a few times 🤣

I'm in the middle of the Larking Around section of the CAL. It has quite a few repeats of rows, and my eyes are getting a little heavy...

OP posts:
InTheNightWeWillWish · 02/02/2021 21:29

myshitisreal love the kitty blanket. What a spoilt kitty!

3 rows of larking around done, thanks to crochetbug for the tip about not cutting the yarn. Although I’ve now all 3 colours in use for this section, so have two on my right side and one on my left side. If I end up making it to the end of this section without getting knotted, I’ll count that as a success. Somehow managed to place my stitch marker in the wrong place so was completely confused when I got to the end and had an extra 10 stitches because it didn’t actually look wrong 🤦‍♀️ Basic maths, re-established and the row is fine.

lucysmam · 02/02/2021 21:37

Lucky cat Myshitisreal! Your cat bed reminded me that I used to tuck our childhood cat up (well into my teens!) in a dollys carry cot with a small granny square blanket that my mum must have made at some point. It was the same sort of colours.

I've found another mandala I like the look of too! Both that and Sophie are printable so I think I'll replace whichever ink cartridge the printer was throwing a strop about earlier, tomorrow, and have a proper read of both.

I do still want to order the proper aran yarn for the cardi so maybe I could order the beginning colours for now, or just a couple of yarn cakes & just do a bit every now and again. Maybe.

In reality, I'll dither about what to actually order for forever & probably get round to neither Grin.

Boob heart is finished, just arms to add tomorrow. I don't think I'll bother with legs though.

NiceCardigan · 02/02/2021 22:22

I’ve finished the pattern round the bottom of my jumper. I had a colour choice wobble but I’m pleased with how it’s turned out.

sophs29 · 03/02/2021 07:59

@InTheNightWeWillWish 3 different yarns in one row..at the same time? oh god, I'm worrying about it now haha! I haven't had time to do any crochet this week yet, by the sounds of it, when I do I need to make sure I'm concentrating

@NiceCardigan that is beautiful! so clever!

InTheNightWeWillWish · 03/02/2021 08:14

@sophs29 not in the same row but crochet bug pointed out you don’t need to snip your yarn at the end of your colour change as the same colour starts on the same side you finished on, so you can carry your yarn up. But it does mean negotiating 3 still relatively full balls (in my case) and an ever growing blanket Grin

sophs29 · 03/02/2021 08:25

Ooooh I see @InTheNightWeWillWish that makes sense! Haha thank you for explaining and thank you to @CrochetBug too! Grin
Mine are all pretty full too, can't imagine I'm going to use anywhere near the amount they stated Grin
