Wow so much to catch up on!
Such lovely things have been posted on here! Still jealous of the sock making! I will make some one day!
I didn't manage to get much crocheting done this weekend, I'm on the first row of larking around but hopefully I'll get a little done each day Smile everyone's CAL's look so good! I was a bit disappointed there was only one row of bobbles as I love that stitch (sorry to those that don't) Blush

lazylinguist · 01/02/2021 12:01

I'm ok with the bobbles now. Smile I have no idea what went wrong with the stitch count first time, because I seemed to be crocheting into the same stitches when I re-did it (I could tell because they were a bit baggier, having already been stitched into). But it came out fine second time around. It's a mystery!

I'm still looking at colours for the Jennifer Steingass jumper. I get a bit obsessive when I'm trying to choose yarn, and spend ages mucking about on websites looking at colours. It's really difficult to judge shades online- they look different from site to site and device to device. But tbh it's not as if I live near a rl physical yarn shop that necessarily stocks the brands I'm looking at anyway, even if yarn shops were open!

Oh glad the bobbles went okay second time round @lazylinguist are you still looking at the cascade 220? I've just had a quick look and no wonder you're struggling to choose colour choices! There's so many lovely choices! all the blues 😍

I have a lovely little fabric shop in my local town that I used to visit for fabric, they have a beautiful section of yarn that I never really properly looked at, but I know next time I can go in that shop I'm going to really enjoy looking at the wall of beautiful wool!

Afternoon all Smile

Love the sock petridishmystery!

I like your blanket as it is InTheNightWeWillWish I think it'll even out over a whole blanket.

Blue and yellow sounds nice lazy, I've found drops photos on their website very true to colour but not many others!

I went and got some multicoloured yarn I splurged on a wool festival from my stash yesterday for my next pair of socks. It was absolutely gorgeous in a skein but when I balled it reminds me of a the colours of bruising... I checked the projects on Ravelry that use it and they're pretty much the same so it's going back into the stash until I find something to break it up a bit with 😫

tizwozliz · 01/02/2021 13:32

My yarn arrived so can finally finish a few wips - a pterodactyl which i finished about 80% of before running out and having to start completely from scratch for a Christmas present.

I did manage to get one thing completed this weekend - a birthday card!

lazylinguist · 01/02/2021 14:40

Oh I love the birthday card, @tizwozliz! You've given me an idea - I have a whole book full of crochet and knitting patterns for flowers, berries, acorns etc. I've never made any, because I wasn't sure what I'd do with them once I'd made them, but I could put them on cards! I never thought of that!

I asked dd to look at the Cascade 220 colours for me. She doesn't knit, but she's arty and good with colours. She suggested the Lake Chelan Heather with a dark blue, or the Burnt Orange with a light grey.

The CALs are looking wonderful. I wish I was taking part. Love the different colour Applications.

That cascade 220 wool ooooo that's beautiful. I recently used 80%wool but never 100. Can't even imagine what that would be like. Is it a washing nightmare?

Love the socks from the toddler going to their parents. My goodness, give yourself some credit, I wouldn't have an absolute clue and they just look like something you would buy in a high end shop. Apologies I can't scroll back to find your name ill lose this post. I can't keep up 😂

I'm making a very simple granny stripe blanket to go with the cat bed. My brother worries about his cat an awful lot bless him so it will make him the happiest person ever.

I've been making more mosaic patterns. I'm a terrible sleeper (don't think I'm the only one here looks at crochetbug) so it's actually quite soothing to like and make patterns in excel.

Ill pop a pic of my cat blanket up when I've done more today. It breaks every single colour rule there is. Very garish, but it's just for a cat, right 🤷‍♂️ 😂

Myshitisreal · 01/02/2021 14:46

Ohhh and that little card is simply adorable. @tizwozliz you're most excellent at the tiny fidgety things. I have such respect

tizwozliz · 01/02/2021 15:09

I've done quite a few crochet cards, often with a bit of linework then a crochet heart, flower or star. I like the simplicity of them. The hardest part is getting my printer to work!

The sheep applique is from attic24

They're so cute. I never would have thought to use crochet in that way . I made all our wedding invites from blank cards so have a box of them. This is very interesting thank you.

Im learning so much from this thread, it blows the mind.!

I have pretty much always used 100% wool or wool/alpaca etc tbh, until I made that first massive crochet blanket during the first lockdown and didn't want to spend tons of money as I was new to crochet and didn't know how it would turn out. I've never had a problem with washing wool tbh - I generally just sling things in the washing machine on a cool wool wash and lay them out carefully to dry.

That cascade wool is gorgeous! When I've worked out how to make my millions I will buy some Grin

lucysmam · 01/02/2021 18:45

Dd1 has decided the heart I'm working on looks like boobs, and now I can't unsee it! Grin She's calling it my boob heart every time she comes near me

CrochetBug · 01/02/2021 18:47

That's what DS2 said when I made some in the first lockdown @lucysmam Grin
I actually have some knitted boobs somewhere (from my bf peer supporter days) which he used to take to bed and cuddle Hmm

lazylinguist · 01/02/2021 18:48

Wow - it's getting very booby, what with boob hearts and boob lights. Grin

OP posts:
lazylinguist · 01/02/2021 18:49

Oh yes I'd forgotten about the knitted boobs!

OP posts:
CrochetBug · 01/02/2021 18:49

Well who doesn't appreciate a fine pair of boobs? Grin

lucysmam · 01/02/2021 18:50

Strangely, it makes me feel better knowing she's not the only one! I could imagine, if I had knitted boobs (for any purpose), dd2 would need some. I'm fully expecting to have to make a second boob heart Grin

CrochetBug · 01/02/2021 18:54

Haha I know what you mean. It nice knowing there are other odd children out there! My son is super weird though. He named my boobs when he was a toddler. Booby and Sweetheart. Apparently one of them had chocolate milk in ConfusedHmmGrin

lazylinguist · 01/02/2021 20:30

Grin I'm afraid it was my dh who named the boob lights, not my dc. They say plenty of odd stuff, but not generally about boobs. Grin

Fourth attempt! I think I'm going to let myself order some nice colours now and start a lockdown blanket. Or at least a lockdown cushion cover!

Knit, Crochet and Natter 3: Is it really still January?!
tinselvestsparklepants · 01/02/2021 20:48

Hmm I took that picture on my knee, it is not as wonky as it looks! Honest.

lucysmam · 01/02/2021 20:54

@tinselvestsparklepants it looks good to me! Lockdown cushion cover sounds achieveable. What colours are you thinking?

I've just been scrolling blankets again on Pinterest. Do any of you know how easy the virus blankets would be as a rectangle (single bed sort of sized)? I'm quite taken by that, and several others too.

I'll never get anywhere at this rate with either that or my own scarfy thingy that I can't decide on 🙈🤷‍♀️

tinselvestsparklepants · 01/02/2021 21:00

I'm not entirely sure. We are waiting to move to a new house so it's all a bit unknown. So multi coloured I expect. I'm very excited about wool shopping Grin

lazylinguist · 01/02/2021 21:06

Wool shopping is indeed very exciting!
