Thanks @CrochetBug will add you back 😊

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 28/12/2020 16:04

Thanks all Smile I didn’t really get the appeal of brioche until recently, I thought this would be too complicated for me to enjoy but it’s one pattern row then three plain so it’s quite relaxing really.

bruffin · 28/12/2020 16:07

Im christinewhisty on raverlry

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 28/12/2020 16:12

I’m k2r2d2

Dilbertian · 28/12/2020 16:16

Oh WOW, Flavia, that's gorgeous! You should definitely find some way to display both sides. Is it your hiking jacket? Have you modified the plain pattern, or is it a different garment?

(Now I want to learn brioche. Another project to add to learning to loom knit and make a ten stitch blanket, not forgetting the eleventy million UFOs under my workable.Grin)

lucysmam · 28/12/2020 16:19

Flavia that's lovely. I really like the blue side!

I'm just about to start an among us crewmate for dd1. I had planned to try and get some done for Christmas but crochet Errol took longer than expected (he's a praying mantis but dd2's real Errol hasn't grown its wings yet so I have plenty of time to work out how to do them!)

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 28/12/2020 16:38

Thanks both!

Dilbertian ah no, the hiking jacket is a different one I'm making with Lett lopi, it's a bit itchy to work with and also just plain dark green at this point so a bit boring.

Ooh, you have a worktable Xmas Envy

lazylinguist · 28/12/2020 16:49

I'm Numenor on Ravelry.

Me neither Flavia, I'm hoping it doesn't like to fly much when it does get them! It's a very speedy little creature & jumps surprisingly far for something 2cm long Shock. Dd2 did not tell me they did this when I told her she needed to do proper research Hmm

Dilbertian · 28/12/2020 19:33

If I didn't have a table to house them under, I probably wouldn't have so many UFOs! Grin

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 28/12/2020 22:14

@Bruffin the folklore pattern you linked to earlier on the thread is now coming out top on "hot right now" on Ravelry Grin

lazylinguist · 29/12/2020 08:46

I've been mooching about on Ravelry, have added as a friend everyone on here who's given their Rav name. I was also checking out some of the patterns you've been mentioning.

I love the Jennifer Steingass jumpers - added the Goldwing one to my list! The Oa hoodie by Kate Davies is gorgeous, but it appears to involve steeking, the very prospect of which terrifies me!

OP posts:
Midnightstar76 · 29/12/2020 08:59

@lazylinguist the very thought of steeking terrifies me too, has anyone attempted steeking? This is cutting up the knitting isn’t it? I would waste hours/weeks/months trying to learn this technique.
Have added the ladies on here who have left their names for Ravelry. Off to have a mooch on that now to see what patterns I can add to que.

tizwozliz · 29/12/2020 10:09

I'm ebygomm on Ravelry

I didn't even know you could add contacts there

bruffin · 29/12/2020 10:35

I suspect this is going to be a bit on the back of the Harry Styles cardigan which went viral. There were over 5000 pictures on instagram of cardigans etc in the patchwork styles fans (or theirDMs,DGMs or in my case friends mum) have knitted. Its even going to be a permanent feature at the V&A

Taylor swift has released the cardigan as merch and given some to her celeb friends as a bit of marketing campaign and Lionbrand released a similar pattern called folklore which is the same name as the album. Dont think it will do a Harry styles because its not really a beginners cardigan and probably a bit off putting

bruffin · 29/12/2020 10:37

and steeking terrifies me as well, think you can only really do it with pure wool, so expensive if it goes wrong.

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 29/12/2020 11:13

I’ve steeked with lett lopi and Jamieson’s and random white Aran wool before. I did do Kate Davies crochet reinforcement on the first two and a knotted steek on the second as I was turning a round neck into a V neck and doing folded ribbing to hide it. It was unnerving the first few cuts and then fine. Kate Davies has brilliant tutorials on it.

That’s amazing Bruffin I would love to get to the V&A. One day!

lucysmam · 29/12/2020 11:14

Well, I set a free TS cardigan pattern uploading to my Google Drive yesterday...then clicked the cross on it, by accident when I went looking for something else & can I heck find it now.

I did find this one on etsy though. For less than £3 that'll do me nicely! (I suspect I need more practise first though!)

Midnightstar76 · 29/12/2020 11:47

Thanks for the tutorial recommendation on steeking @FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack I may try it one day yet.

Slothkin · 29/12/2020 18:09

My husband has used his Christmas gifts in the best possible way! A sloth bookmark for me! 🥰

That's so cute, Slothkin!

I've finished my Lettlopivest! I still need to weave in the ends (stuffed inside for photo!)and block it, but it fits (only slightly more snugly than anticipated, and that's probably down to the Christmas food Grin).

FlaviaAlbiaWantsLangClegBack · 29/12/2020 19:19

That's gorgeous lazy! Beautiful work!

That's very sweet slothkin, both of them are Grin

Midnightstar76 · 29/12/2020 19:23

@lazylinguist Fabulous finish
@Slothkin love your new bookmark

lazylinguist · 29/12/2020 19:30

Thank you! It was pretty quick for me! I've got so used to knitting socks in fine wool that I'd forgotten how much more quickly it goes when you're using Aran!
