@lucysmam

I need top tips for finding the back loop using black yarn or I really will be standing in the kitchen window this afternoon 🙄
This is why I only have the legs of black crew member and have done since about October 😂

Bright light is the only tip TBH.

bruffin · 17/01/2021 12:03

I find dark wool a bit of a nightmare. I resorted to taking photographs with my phone and zooming to count rows.
I have a large magnifying light i inherited from mil but its too big.

lucysmam · 17/01/2021 12:41

Ten stitches down...8 to go Hmm I'm not entirely convinced they're all in quite the right place but so long as the end result looks ok, I'm not going back to try again!

lucysmam · 17/01/2021 13:10

I lied...I went back to the beginning of this round to use blsc instead - I think that'll still have the desired effect & I could see those much easier

CrochetBug · 17/01/2021 13:30

I've heard a lot of good things about light up hooks for dark yarn but haven't tried them myself.

lucysmam · 17/01/2021 13:58

It's done! Not as crisp as it could have been maybe but dark yarn is really hard work!

lazylinguist · 17/01/2021 15:57

I've heard a lot of good things about light up hooks

That sounds like an amazing idea - I imagine them looking really cool, like lit up magic wands. Grin

I've had a bit of a break from my cowl and am halfway through a second granny square to add to my pile. The first one looked really lovely in the book, but my petals don't lie as neatly as they should. I love my granny squares book though - it's got so many variations and colour schemes.

That's a lovely square @lazylinguist
I've fought the urge to start anything until my CAL yarn comes! I don't think it's been dispatched yet though Sad

lazylinguist · 17/01/2021 16:17

No I haven't had a message saying mine's dispatched either. Sad

White with his top hat, and a green ninja for my teacher friend's nephew.

Amazingly; after struggling with the black while doing the top hat, I managed to master foundation sc using it for the ninja headband Hmm. Needs practise still but I was pleased with myself!

@crochetbug your stuff is beautiful, those ripples are so neat. Here's my latest ripple, a mass collection of butterflies and some rainbows I posted during the first lockdown

Oooo I finished this yesterday

That flower granny square is too cute for me! Love it. I've never dabbled much with different types.

Love the amigurumi @lucysmam you did well!

What lovely things everyone! I'm on my third granny square. I'm really enjoying them! I'm finding I like the less complex ones - they end up a bit neater and sturdier. I still don't know what I'm going to do with them - a blanket eventually I guess!

Working on this little guy today whilst binge watching this is us. Pretty much all the characters irritate me now (I'm on season 3), I really ought to find something else to watch.

We're watching the new series of The Expanse atm, but they only release one episode a week on Wednesdays. Last episode was a massive cliff-hanger, so I'm getting impatient!

What kind of little guy is that going to be, tiz? He looks very cute!

OP posts:
tizwozliz · 17/01/2021 20:48

He's going to be a turtle

Barmbraic · 17/01/2021 20:53

I finally have something to share! My friend is having a baby next month so I made a little jumper and hat. I love it but I'm so bad at sewing up Blush. I just about remembered how to crochet a chain for the back of the neck.

That's beautifu, Barmbraic! I love the colour effect.

Thanks lazylinguist. The block of cream is definitely deliberate and not because I ran out of a discontinued yarn. Blush

lazylinguist · 18/01/2021 07:55

Well you'd never know, and it looks lovely with the cream hat!

Can I join you all? I started crocheting last week and have so far managed a fairly wobbly bobble hat and have started a simple baby blanket using a Bella coco tutorial. Having a great time though Smile

lucysmam · 18/01/2021 09:43

The jumper looks lovely Barmbraic, very snuggly.

Thelongdarkteatime it's quite addictive isn't it! & fast to see results. I end up like "just one more round" when really I should get up to bed Grin

My plan for today is spending some grant money for my Guides (goodness knows what on!), write a letter, and then make the orange crewmate.

I might try and work out how to upsize the pattern later on too; so I can do the big one dd2 wants.

lazylinguist · 18/01/2021 11:14

Welcome, Thelongdarkteatime ! I'm sure you'll go from strength to strength and gradually get less wobbly!

I'm getting really impatient for my yarn to arrive now - I want to start the CAL! I don't think it's even been dispatched yet though.

Thelongdarkteatime · 18/01/2021 11:16

Thanks lucysmam and lazylinguist. I am enjoying myself and can see my improvements with every stitch. Is it the attic24 CAL you are going to do lazylinguist?

lucysmam · 18/01/2021 11:24

It's a shame this £500 isn't mine; I could think of much more interesting things to order than 100 pencils/100 pencil cases/100 packs of coloured pencils (between three units - I don't have that many Guides Grin!) I could buy allllll the yarn cakes I was dithering over the other week, without batting an eyelid Grin
