What, like having a proper look at your yarn is somehow not productive?! Shock Grin

I can't believe we are half-way to filling up another thread already!

Btw, I know I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, given that my CAL yarn hasn't even arrived yet Grin... but does anyone have any ideas about what kind of KAL they'd like to do? A blanket as well, or something else?

My bad, of course it is! What I should have said is that halfway into a 3 hr zoom, which I know overruns, I should have prioritised a drink and a snack Grin
lucysmam · 15/01/2021 17:45

Red is done; complete with funky little brain slug (I enjoyed making that Grin ). It's my neatest one yet!

givemebooks · 15/01/2021 18:06

Appologies 2 weeks of home schooling and i have lost the ability to type and spell correctly!

lucysmam · 15/01/2021 18:34

Grin our y6 teacher gave in half an hour early today & we had "show & tell" pets! Tbf, I don't blame him; it's hard bloody work through a screen!

Barmbraic · 15/01/2021 18:43

Quick question. I'm starting a temperature scarf for dd (11). Any suggestions how many stitches to cast on? I'm making it in dk bamboo/cotton mix so it will be quite silky. I'd usually cast on about 70 stitches but I think it'll swap her with the length of it. Would 40 be too narrow for the length?

lazylinguist · 15/01/2021 19:15

I like your little red guy, @lucysmam !
@givemebooks - that is a very bright blanket! I hope your ds likes it.

I've decided I need a break from the tedium of my cowl this evening, so I'm going to do another crochet granny square to add to the as-yet-purposeless pile of them I'm very VERY slowly accumulating!

@lazylinguist I must have got the idea for the hug light here 😂

My husband was quick to make it the boob light!!!

I have a mountain of granny squares in a bag Somewhere too.

Does anyone ever get blocked where they can't crochet or knit? Well these squares got me out of my last blockage.

Just finishing this cushion today in the greek mosaic, then I'm Crocheting my mum a massive scarf type thing with pockets. I started it but had to abandon it as I'm on a time crunch for the pillows completion.

Love the little amount us characters

Myshitisreal · 15/01/2021 19:32

The squares. I think that's all of them.

Ooh Myshitisreal I like the look of the scarfy things with pockets too. I can't decide whether to do a virus shawl, one of the blanket scarf cardi things, or pocket scarf with the yarn cakes Confused

CrochetBug · 15/01/2021 20:25

I can't settle to anything. I had started a scarf as requested by DN, but the edges were curling. So I frogged it and started again with a bigger hook. But then I didnt like it so I frogged it again. I've picked up and put down about 336778854223678 WIPs since. Hmph.

lazylinguist · 15/01/2021 20:37

Wow @Myshitisreal ! I've got a way to go to catch up with your pile!

I love those blues 😍😍. Don't know what I'm going to do with them but I went mad with the colours, usually my crochet is regimented pattern following so it was nice to go wild. I might make a cover for our pouffe with them.

@crochetbug are you not feeling inspired???? I hate that feeling.

@lucysmam here's the scarf I'm doing. I've changed the stitch pattern. I'll take a pic later on to show. I've also made it longer down her back. I made the pockets but the frogged them 😩

Love the bright blanket. I love everything I've seen here 😊

CrochetBug I think that's why I flit between so many types of crafts; I just can't settle to (for example) sewing, sometimes, so need something else to do.

Myshitisreal I'd love to see your pocket scarf! They look very handy (but I have a tendency to put things in pockets and lose them Blush )

CrochetBug · 15/01/2021 20:56

I can't settle to anything. I've got 2 partially read books. 3 half done cross stitches. A mountain of unfinished scrapbook pages. A billion crochet projects. A pile of fabric that I've cut up and need to sew.

Im on edge and can't keep still. I think I'll take extra medication and see if it calms me. Hmm

MindyMalik · 15/01/2021 21:32

I've been watching some videos on YouTube about the Cal blanket and I am starting to doubt my colour choice I feel I should have more....... Shall I go multicoloured or keep it muted?!?!?!

Myshitisreal · 16/01/2021 04:29

Bugger lost my post.

Scarf enclosed @lucysmam, only got one nights work at it. Hope to finish it this week. It's folded in 4 in the picture, and around 170cm long. I'll make it as big as I can, I'm unsure how far this wool will go and I can't find it online to buy more.

@crochetbug I hope you find something calming and pleasing soon ♥. I very much understand.

@MindyMalik can you try a small swatch with your chosen colours, even just rows of double crochet? Take pictures of the wool. Combos lined up??

Mindy I think your colours sound lovely. I think the muted tones with a pop of mustard will work really well. There’s some photos on Pinterest of more muted blankets and I think the stitches show a lot better in some of those. There’s also ones in the same colour spectrum, ones that are done with pastels, ones done with brights and one done in the same colour so don’t worry about needing more colour. I think your colour choice will work really well, plus as you said, the colour choices you make all have a story behind them.

lazylinguist · 16/01/2021 08:56

CrochetBug Flowers Sending you calm vibes and hoping you settle to something that feels good to do at the moment.

Mindy - I thought your colours sounded really good. I'm hoping my cream and grey aren't too boring! I'm not sure how often to change colour between the two.

I just thought of another thing to ask on this thread. Those of you who do Instagram, do you have any recommendations for great knitting or crochet accounts to follow?

I only use IG to look at journalling stuff and knitting and crochet stuff, so that's basically my whole feed! But I always like finding new ones to follow.
