I've finally placed my order...to be delivered to my best friend's house down the road just in case I'm at school when it arrives, so the girls don't need to answer the door

I've ordered some of the Ricorumi that's been mentioned, to try. Two of the yarn cakes pictured. And wool for the cardi (and buttons!). Just need to download the pattern now & I'm all set, for a while at least!

I always struggle to pick colour changing cakes... which is why I have a box of them in the loft 😂

CrochetBug · 06/01/2021 19:07

I bought about 6 Caron baby cakes because I fell in love with the colours and I hoped I would have another baby. Then ex fucked off, claiming he hated my DC and didn't want children :(
I've buried them, and the other half made baby blanket at the very back of the cupboard. One day they won't make me cry and I'll finish/use them.

lucysmam · 06/01/2021 19:09

I'll definitely be ordering more SoupDragon, I just couldn't justify more than my birthday money at the mo. Get Jan out of the way & I'll have a bit more money coming in from extra hours picked up permanently.

I love the colour combo in that scarf, bruffin!

So this thread is inspiring but expensive Grin I keep being tempted to look at things you're mentioning!

SoupDragon · 06/01/2021 20:12

Flowers crochetbug

CrochetBug · 06/01/2021 20:13

Sorry. Didn't mean to put a downer on the thread Blush thanks for the flowers. Smile

inquietant · 06/01/2021 20:15

Maybe if the memories are bad @CrochetBug you might let them go and choose something else for yourself? I'm sure they are lovely but that is a hard association Flowers

TiddleTaddleTat · 06/01/2021 20:28

Hi can I join?
Recently got into knitting and I've bought some nice alpaca /wool blend chunky yarn and 9mm needles to make a hat for DH. First hat!

CrochetBug · 06/01/2021 20:32

I considered that @inquietant but the thought of that made me sad too Grin. So I 'hid' it all until I'm strong enough to decide what to do with it. Its been more than a year so I am almost there Smile

lucysmam · 06/01/2021 20:42

Ah CrochetBug I didn't see your post above mine :(

lazylinguist · 06/01/2021 21:00

TiddleTaddleTat - welcome, enjoy your hat! Ooh - that rhymes! Grin

My cowl is definitely a bit boring to make. And it's going to take ages. Fine wool, lots of longish, repetitive rows. Still... it's very easy tv knitting! And it's very cheerful and colourful.

Cardigan pattern downloaded. I just need to finish these Among Us crewmates for dd1, then decide whether to start on that, the scarfy thing I want to try, or a blanket I bought wool for, for dd2 🤷‍♀️

Or all of them at once 🤣

inquietant · 06/01/2021 21:23

Yes, I've hidden things at various points. You'll be ready when you're ready.
petridishmystery · 06/01/2021 22:13

Yes this is a blanket I was making for my ex - he’d picked the yarn and everything. Then he dumped me and I didn’t know what to do with the blanket as I’d put too much work in already to frog it. I just work on it off and on and hope by the time it’s finished I’m finally over him!

Hi everyone sorry I’ve been a bit MIA but I am back at school this week (teacher, not pupil!) and I’ve been stupidly busy! However, I am determined to get my next jumper finished this weekend so hopefully will have something to contribute sooner or later! Thanks for the Wool Warehouse discount tip @CrochetBug I’ve just treated myself to a cheeky little yarn stash... This is an expensive thread to be a part of!

I don’t know if anyone else is sad enough to enjoy Inside the Factory but they were looking at socks this week and the Kitchener stitch got a mention! Made me think of the discussions on here 😂

lazylinguist · 07/01/2021 11:14

Sorry you're in the post-break-up situation too, petridishmystery. Here's to drowning sorrows in lovely yarn!

This is indeed a potentially expensive thread to be on. I unwisely ventured into Style and Beauty yesterday to ask some advice, which proved a bit pricey too. Shock

All but a tiny bit of my work has been cancelled, so I shouldn't really be spending any money atm, but I'm itching to start on a more challenging project than my simple cowl. Still trying to decide between a Jennifer Steingass jumper and the Neville Longbottom cardigan!

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 07/01/2021 11:16

This is why you should build up a sizeable yarn stash when you can. You never know when there might be a time when you can't buy it.

lazylinguist · 07/01/2021 12:29

True. Although even when I have a reasonable yarn stash, I inevitably settle on a pattern which requires yarn I don't have! I've got plenty of yarn I could make all sorts of things with, but not the particular cardigan or jumper I'm hankering to start! Maybe I should restrain myself, have a sort through my stash and make something else.

SoupDragon · 07/01/2021 12:32

I think I have enough yarn to cover all eventualities 😂😂

lazylinguist · 07/01/2021 13:52

Any ideas what actual clothes size a S/M, L/XL, might happen to be? I'm not entirely sure which size cardi to make for dd Confused (I'm going to message the Etsy seller too, just thought someone here might have a clue)
