Hi Gingermonkey - bite the bullet and get a sewing machine !

You'll wonder how you managed pre- machine. Honestly it's the best thing I've ever done.

I've got one of these and it's great. Very easy to use and good value to boot.

Go on, you know you want to ..

Gingermonkey · 23/09/2007 22:14

Hi TB, I have got a machine but I hate it!!! It's because I like to sit on an evening and sew in front of the telly, and whenever I get the machine out it feels like work and not fun, iykwim!!! I used to have an all singing all dancing machine, but that was really far too much like hard work so I gave it to bro's GF, now I have a nice simple one (but it still annoys me ). I have said to myself that this weds when I am all on my own all day I will get it out and wind some bobbins on, so I have a little stack and actually do a bit of machine sewing. But I bet I get all stroppy and go back to my trusty fingers instead!!!! I hated needlework at school because of the sewing machines, I was happy when we did embroidery but used to groan when it was time to 'thread your machines, girls!'
LK - I've linked to your blog from mine, coz I was inspired by you and made a bag from some of DD's old jeans(actually I have done 2 now, did the other one this eve). First bag attempt ever, I am very proud . But, blimey, it's tough to get through denim, isn't it?!?!

Pixiefish · 24/09/2007 07:42

lost the thread for a while there

Have made a load of cards this week and they're all on my blog for those of you that can link to it

Tillyboo · 24/09/2007 22:07

Hi,

I've looked at the blogs that have been links on this thread and I've been mightily impressed.

How do you go about setting up a blog ? Is it easy to do and does it generate many sales ?

I'd like to do one but not sure I'd have the time to be honest. I am intrigued as to what is involved though .... thanks

UCM · 24/09/2007 22:10

Pixiefish · 25/09/2007 07:39

lucykate · 25/09/2007 13:19

hi, have been a bit wiped out with a bad headache the last few days, glad stuff arrived ok dior, hope you find it useful.

gm, will check out your bags, haven't done much blogging lately.

whizzz, you said you liked the brown cat, so i've started making something similar but in black & white, like bella, will keep you posted with how it turns out.

tomorrow, i have the whole day til 5.30 to work, dd is going for a playdate/tea after school. if you see me anywhere else other than this thread on mn, feel free to scold!

i had some fun this weekend, found a pure wool jumper in a charity shop, lovely colour, a soft lime green, so have washed it twice on a very hot wash to make it felt. it was a size 18, and is now shrunk down to tiny, ds size , can't wait to chop it up.

so plan this week is, cat for whizzz and 2 designs for cushion covers.

Hello,

I've managed to finish one dog and a 'Fat Cat' (but he still needs to be stuffed).

They are here if anyone wants to take a peep. Pink Dog and Woollen Checked Fat Cat.

I used French Knots on the pink dog, I think they turned out OK. I'm going to make a little butterfly to put on her ever so long snout.

Task for this week :

  1. Stuff Fat Cat
  2. Make a horse
  3. Make some home-made cards (note I said 'some' - might only be one, )

It's my birthday this weekend so may not get too much done.

Thank-you Dior, another year younger

Gingermonkey · 25/09/2007 17:24

I do like fat cat (poor thing, he is FLAT cat at the minute, isn't he?!). It's lovely fabric. So far I haven't taken any pics of what I have done this week...I will later on, promise!!! My 2 bags that I made in homage to LK are there already, if anyone wants to have a look here and also if anyone can help me find a half apron (details on blog) I'd really appreciate it!

Tillyboo · 25/09/2007 18:05

GM - have a look here or here perhaps

There are a few on Ebay too, probably cheaper.

Gingermonkey · 25/09/2007 21:21

Thanks TB.

Right, I've blogged my acheivements for the week here I am pleasantly surprised at how much I have done! I didn't realise I'd been so efficient (although if I look at the state of the house, I should have known I'd been doing something other than cleaning and tidying up!!! lol).
Next week I have 3 horses to make and 2 rabbits plus a new creature for DS's b.day. I'm going to have a giveaway on the 5th of October too to celebrate my first month in blogland and DS's b.day. Ssssh, it's still a secret...every person that leaves a comment on my blog from monday will go into a hat and I'll draw the winners at the weekend. I need to decide what exciting prizes to give now.....

Whizzz · 25/09/2007 21:42

Argh - I have been useless
I haven't fixed the necklace as I will have to change the design slightly & she hasn't told me what she'd prefer.
I haven't made a lariat, I have made one necklace but havn't photographed it yet and I've made a seed bead bracelet but unpicked it all. Pretty useless really...

I will do better this week - promise !
Lucykate.....I'm all excited now

Whizzz · 25/09/2007 21:44

Well done to others, there are some pics of lovely things !

lucykate · 25/09/2007 22:17

lucykate · 26/09/2007 14:28
