Hi all,
For a few weeks I've been knitting a blanket for my DP and I'd love to see what other people are knitting/crocheting at the moment!

Here's the latest picture of my blanket Smile

Loving your beach bags Soupdragon, what yarn is that?!

MsAtomicBomb · 29/07/2016 17:09

I'm really enjoying reading through this thread and seeing what everyone is up to. Everyone is very talented. This is a baby blanket I'm knitting for my friend; I learnt to knit as a child but this is the first thing I've ever really made, am quite pleased with it so far.

I've been having a little go at crochet too and am going to have a go at making a nice bright granny square blanket after this. Am determined not to buy the yarn though until I'm finished with this one first!

Learning to knit is on,my list of things to do but I can't quite get my head round two sticks rather than one hook!

There wasn't pattern for the bags, I just made it up. The smaller one was easy - chain the width of an iPad, DC in each chain on both sides of the chain and just keep going on a spiral. It's a mix of Rico cotton Aran and Drops Paris with a strand of colour held together with a strand of white (this hides the colour changes!)

I had tried a few times to learn to knit, but can't stand the clicking and it feels like I'm fencing with myself so I start panicking....no, I just can't do it.

I have to confess I have a negative emotional response to the word knitting. It stems from being taught as a child with something scratchy and the memory sets my teeth on edge!

There are some utterly beautiful pieces on here!
I've been trying and failing to teach myself to crochet for months. There's a moment every evening where I just yell at the computer/phone screen/ have a strop with it all!!!

I'm pregnant, I have a very specific hat that I desperately want for this baby and I can't find it anywhere or anyone in the uk who makes it (etsy, Facebook etc) I'm loosing the ability to be rational about it all too which is great!!! Grin

Does anyone have anyone who makes that they could recommend please?!!

SoupDragon · 01/08/2016 00:54

What hat were you after?

SpaceDinosaur · 01/08/2016 01:01

Something like this one. White with vibrant coloured "spikes" on the head and back

I've found a few people who make similar in "gendered" colours and one lady who made multi but all very "baby" colours.

I honestly adore this hat!!! Blush

Space

The hat and "tail" look very easy, I'm pretty sure the spikes are fairly straightforward too.

I'm pretty swamped right now but perhaps I could try & make one for you a few weeks down the line.
When is your baby due?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/08/2016 01:47

And I've just looked on Pinterest and found this, on Etsy (go on Pinterest and type in "white dino baby hat!)
Is it the one?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/08/2016 01:48

Seller is crochetfifi.
I've never been on Etsy but I'm guessing you could search by seller.
Unless it's an expired pin?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/08/2016 01:52

I scrolled down and it states that item was initially listed on 28/04/2016
Let me know if you were successful in oredring one

SpaceDinosaur · 01/08/2016 02:08

Baby's due on Boxing Day. :-)

I did find her on etsy Zing and we had a chat too. She freely told me that her colours are very muted, the filter on the pic didn't really change that too much. She doesn't offer"bold" colours unfortunately.

If you are interested then I would be very very excited!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/08/2016 03:10

Ok. That's plenty of time. Can you figure out what head circumference size you want and I'll take it from there.
I can do these 8 colours for the spikes, if you like, ok?

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 01/08/2016 03:17

Actually I'll post another photo tomorrow as well, for really bright colours I'd like to show you a few different shades.
This is exciting!
(Now I have eleventy billion projects +1 😂😂😂😂)

MooseBeTimeForSnow · 01/08/2016 04:31

Oh so glad I've found this thread.

I am new to crocheting and self taught a month ago.
I am pregnant and have a lot of time on my hands ( not for long hey lol).. Yesterday I finished one of my projects ( out of 4) and am well pleasedwith myself.
mu first project I'm still struggling to put finishing touches on its a sleeping bag ( couldn't manage a baby cocoon) but the ends are so uneven it's looking a bit 🤕.
