Hi all,
For a few weeks I've been knitting a blanket for my DP and I'd love to see what other people are knitting/crocheting at the moment!

Here's the latest picture of my blanket Smile

...and if that's not enough..

I'm also making 2 other single blankets out of the leftovers! (I bought 2 balls per colours, but only using a third or so of the 2nd ball)

The top one on photo made up of 3 rows of each colour (foundation chain must be an odd number!)
R1: All tr crochets
R2: ( tr ch1 ) repeat until the end then tr
R3 : All tr crochets

The bottom on is 1 row of each colours, all tr.
But I want at least 2 repeats of the entire palette. If I can do a 3rd it will be a blanket, if not enough wool I will turn it into a floor cushion.
So, here's the full extent of my triple rainbowlicious project! Smile

Thank to MN, I looked up Bella Coco on YouTube and learnt how to make granny squares! Decided I wanted to do a big granny squares blanket. The centre four have coloured edges, the other ones will be edged in white, then I will do do a border of some sort at the end.
Slightly addicted, I have also made a snowflake (thinking about Christmas cards!), a small owl, and have two books out of the library with lovely patterns in!

The blanket is a bit straighter than it looks, but has been folded and rolled up for the past week!

I have just started teaching myself to crochet thanks to YouTube but I'm struggling! My granny square isn't sitting flat and I don't know what I'm doing wrong! Does anyone have any advice?

Bellatrix - it looks like you are increasing the number of stitches too quickly. How many cluster do you have across each side in each round?

Bellatrixandstrange · 26/07/2016 16:51

Thank you purple, I don't really understand, I have been doing doing three doubles ( I think they're called) then 1 chain stitch and on the corners 2 chain stitches between 3 doubles I don't know if this makes sense!

Sooverthis · 26/07/2016 17:23

The extra stitches need to be in the corner stitch it looks like you may be doing them in the next stitch maybe?

PurpleFrog · 26/07/2016 18:23

Bella - that should be OK. I was asking how many clusters of 3 stitches you have on each side. Every round should have one more cluster on each side than the previous round. I can't tell from your picture. I wonder if your chain stitches are too loose? For blankets I have stopped doing the intermediate chains between my clusters - I just do the 2 at the corners. That gives a less holey fabric. Maybe you could try that on a new square?

These projects are all so beautiful. I am crocheting a blanket. My very first. It is basically a giant granny square. One it is done I am going to make one the sameness my niece in colours she has chosen. Then I want to do something different. Maybe a patchwork a squares one. There are so many to choose from. Here is a picture of mine. It is a work in progress.

Those colours are beautiful bluesky.

SoupDragon · 26/07/2016 23:07

Nice work here :)

Zing I think the middle one of the Rascals is wrong and should just be taken out. It probably fits better further up near the pinks (although the colour on my screen might be different to real life!)

PurpleFrog · 26/07/2016 23:16

Zing - I'm not sure about the white....

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/07/2016 23:53

Purple

I apprecite your comment and trust me, it took me a long time to decide to include it!
Because it's a rainbow "inspired" blanket it feels right to use white (coz of the white light- prism-rainbow thing) plus white has a special meaning to me so when using certain colours as a base I always try to incorporate it.
So for me, it's gotta be in! :-)

Soupy
It's that damn Magenta that drove me nuts!
It's to purple for the pink - red shading and too pink for the purples! Aarrrgh! I'm igonring it, it's sitting on the naughty step until I can't deal with it! Grin

PurpleFrog · 27/07/2016 10:48

That's OK, Zing. Grin I really like the purple/blue/green part and might think about a blanket based on that part of the spectrum. I guess with a 10mm hook and chunky wool it must grow quite quickly!

SoupDragon · 27/07/2016 11:38

Leave the magenta on the naughty step where it belongs! Do you need to include it?

SoupDragon · 27/07/2016 11:43

As I'm feeling mean, I'll post the picture of my mini beach bag, that fits inside a big beach bag and is iPad sized, with a gratuitous beach in the background...

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/07/2016 15:48

If anyone is interested, I started a thread yesterday in Arts & Crafts and have been posting Stylecraft Special DK colour palettes I have come up with.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 27/07/2016 15:56

Purple

I will post the list of wools in that section for you tomorrow.

Soupy
That's a lovely beach bag and a lush beach? Where are you?

SoupDragon · 28/07/2016 12:18

I am in the hell that is Antigua... [sigh]

SoupDragon · 28/07/2016 12:21

This is the big bag... It's crocheted round nylon rope in a spiral.

The backdrop is in the rather less gorgeous Croydon!

Thank you. I went back to the tutorial, started again and much better! Thanks

DesertIslandPenguin · 29/07/2016 15:52

Ooooh, that bag is fantastic Soupdragon! Did you follow a pattern?
