Hi all,
For a few weeks I've been knitting a blanket for my DP and I'd love to see what other people are knitting/crocheting at the moment!

Here's the latest picture of my blanket Smile

Soup my dog is following the progress of this bag with interest. I think he thinks I'm making him a new bed. He might well fit in it by the time it's finished Hmm (he's a lab...).
Zing this is the yarn I'm using - www.woolwarehouse.co.uk/yarn/cascade-pacific-all-colours the colours I have are 42, 88, 43, 101, 25, 22, 13 and 12. 4mm hook.

Well done Marci. Mine has stalled at present. I need to go on an expedition to the spare room to find the stuffing.

jenpatnim · 14/08/2016 13:23

I just finished this, as a birthday gift for a friend. Going to do another one I turquoise as another gift.

Jen, that's amazing, how big is it?

RedOnHerHedd · 15/08/2016 00:37

This week I made a mermaid for the little girl next door, and a Pikachu and Pokeball for my boys.

Loving all your pictures!

Love this thread.

I am in the process of teaching myself to crochet. I watched video's on youtube, but now I am having issues with the translation between US/UK. Though I figure that its mostly just the names that need translated, and not the technique so I should be OK.

Hopefully it won't be long until I can post pics on here of my first project!

RedOnHerHedd · 15/08/2016 15:16

LizKeen
Here is a conversion chart. They're the same stitches, technique is exactly the same, they're just named differently. Find patterns that are all either American or British and stick to just the one for a while until you get used to the stitches, then use the conversion chart when you have a pattern that's different.
Good luck!!

RedOnHerHedd · 15/08/2016 15:17

Would help if I posted the pic.

Marcipex, about 11 inches

Marcipex · 15/08/2016 21:58

Thanks Jen, it's lovely, so intricate.

Very cute, Red, do you use a pattern or do you improvise?

LizKeen · 16/08/2016 13:11

Thanks Red, that is really helpful, I am going to save it to my phone so I have it handy.

BavarianMax · 16/08/2016 14:26

Would anyone be interested in doing a crochet challenge? I was thinking of organising one. Whats the best way to do that? Maybe on Pinterest?

How about amigurumi?

ItchyFoot · 16/08/2016 14:35

Some very talented people on this thread! I've just finished knitting a massive blanket for my friend and I'm now going to teach myself to crochet. I'm 28 weeks pregnant with dc2 and want to do a baby blanket. I knitted dd1's.
Then the friend who I've done the blanket for is due in February and I've got a basket weave knitted pattern that I want to try.

Marcipex · 16/08/2016 14:50

BavarianMax, id be interested in seeing your challenge, but currently I'm seeing how many teddies I can make over the summer break.( Only 3 1/2 at the moment.)

RedOnHerHedd · 16/08/2016 20:04

Marcipex for those I used free patterns on Pinterest but I have made a few freestyle items. There's a million patterns I want to try. I've done a load of blankets recently and wanted to try a few smaller (quicker) items.

I'm in the middle of making a twiddle cushion for my grandad at the moment. He has Lewy Body Dementia and gets very agitated. So I'm making him something with plenty of texture to try and give him something to do. This is it so far.

Well done Marci! He's a happy looking chap. I've been trying to get other things done in the evenings recently - must get back to mine!

Marcipex · 18/08/2016 13:25

Thanks PurpleFrog, I'm looking forward to seeing yours.
Im starting a saffron yellow one now.

qazxc · 18/08/2016 17:19

I'm making a virus shawl for myself. It's in a quite bulky wool so working up nice and fast. Very addictive pattern too.

ItchyFoot · 18/08/2016 17:39

Learning crochet is having mixed results. I'm practicing with a left over ball of yarn from dd1's baby blanket trying to make her dolls a blanket. At this rate dc2 will be about five before I finish hers.

BavarianMax · 19/08/2016 08:45

Morning all, I know its not quite crochet or knitting but is anyone here into upcycling? If so, we are running a fab upcycling challenge at the moment!

Check it out here: www.obby.co.uk/guides/upcycling/theobbies
