Craft shopping addiction

JollyScaryGiant · 11/10/2013 22:33

Hello. My name is Jolly. I am addicted to buying yarn. I have no more money or space but still went into a charity shop today and asked if they had any wool. Then spent £4.50 on it. 1kg of yarn I have no use for.

I rregularly go on wool websites and fill my trolley. Sometimes I checkout. Sometimes I don't.

I think about crochet a lot.

I clearly have a problem.

goodjam - we don't say the 'e' word ... we are supporters GrinWink

SuperNappy · 23/10/2013 15:56

I didn't pm... I don't think. I'm pretty sure I just searched for the name and requested to join.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/10/2013 16:02

It's called Mumsnet Yarnaholics - and I will happily add you to the group, Antoinette. Smile

roguepixie · 23/10/2013 18:41

Brilliant SuperNappy - you've got the info Grin, I didn't realise you could do it that way around. I am a complete twonk with regard to FB and am only just finding my way about.

JoannaBaxterSaysSexIsRude · 23/10/2013 19:37

I have pm'd and requested. Having a big wibble that I am linking MN with my RL name Grin Too damn lazy to set up a separate MN name for FB though.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/10/2013 20:05

You're in, Joanna - now, there's just the small matter of the secret handshake and the uniform requirements.....Grin

Chottie · 23/10/2013 20:07

I love knitting and making patchwork. I have lots of fabric, books and wool. And I have a craft work room, it is wonderful. I go up there with a cup of tea, switch on the radio and my machine - it is my little piece of paradise...... :)

Chottie · 23/10/2013 20:08

p.s. please can I join the Yarnaholics? Thanks

roguepixie · 23/10/2013 20:47

Chottie - see above. Look up 'Mumsnet Yarnaholics' on FB and request an invite.

Joanna - no need to worry - real names remain the property of Yarn Club. And the first rule of Yarn Club is ... we don't talk about Yarn Club...or RL names Grin

goodjambadjar · 23/10/2013 20:49

You can Facebook search us and request membership, if that doesn't work, you'll need to PM the person who set it up. STDG.

Looking forward to seeing you on there! Grin

AntoinetteCosway · 23/10/2013 20:54

Thanks Smile off to find you now.

AntoinetteCosway · 23/10/2013 20:55

Have requested entry. Yey :)

SuperNappy · 23/10/2013 21:08

It's a slippery slope. I'm hooked. My doctor the other day noticed DD's crocheted blanket and asked if someone had made it for DD. She was very shocked when I said I had made it myself. The yarn revolution is slowly and quietly taking over younger folk. One day we're all going to be doing it!

AntoinetteCosway · 23/10/2013 21:40

When you post to the Facebook group can your friends see it on their feed? Don't want to out my MN name to them.

SuperNappy · 23/10/2013 21:54

It is a closed group, so no. Here's the explanation about different types of groups:
m.facebook.com/help/220336891328465

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/10/2013 21:54

You don't have to use your MN nickname in the Yarnaholics group. Some of us have shared our MN nicknames, but it is not in any way compulsory - so you will out yourself to your friends as a yarn addict, but you don't have to share your nickname.

And it is a secret group - so I think only members can see posts.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 23/10/2013 21:54

Closed, not secret - sorry.

SuperNappy · 23/10/2013 21:56

It's a Closed Group rather than a secret one I think.

SuperNappy · 23/10/2013 21:58

Lol, cross posting!

AntoinetteCosway · 23/10/2013 22:09

Ok, thanks :) don't want to clutter up friends' feeds with yarn-y witterings but it looks like only members can see posts so that's good!

PoppetOne · 23/10/2013 22:14

Oooh! Yarn! I think I am a mere amateur after reading this! Can I drool over yarn with you all please, well, only if it's in a protective plastic wrapping Smile
I have requested to join the FB group. Did you know there is a group called "We love Lucy II" in tribute to Lucy of Attic 24?

I feel like the mother ship has called me home!

goodjambadjar · 24/10/2013 11:43

We welcome anyone with a cup of tea and a woolly lap blanket. Grin

HoggyTruffle · 24/10/2013 14:34

I think I may have request an invite too.

I was browsing crochet patterns at work during lunchtime and was spotted by someone who said it was nice that people were keeping such skills alive. I'm not sure if he was impressed or being sarcastic. Confused

fizzbump · 24/10/2013 15:50

Hi , my names Fizz and I'm a yarn addict too. Love the thread as its made me realise I'm not alone in my love of wool, beads, buttons and really useful boxes. Often find myself hiding my latest projects away when my parents/friends visit as they've started to notice the different piles of wool and commenting Blush.

Will send a request to join on both FB and ravelry if you dont mind another craftaholic!

ThePigOfHappiness · 24/10/2013 17:10

I've only gone and won more wool on eBay... That's the second lot this week Shock where will I put it all?
