Craft shopping addiction

Hello. My name is Jolly. I am addicted to buying yarn. I have no more money or space but still went into a charity shop today and asked if they had any wool. Then spent £4.50 on it. 1kg of yarn I have no use for.

I rregularly go on wool websites and fill my trolley. Sometimes I checkout. Sometimes I don't.

I think about crochet a lot.

I clearly have a problem.

when walking the dogs, I often fantasise the perfect colour wool that I somehow never quite find in the right yarn/weight/quantity.

I also inherited grabbed half a ball of the most beautiful raspberry colour from my granny (who also clearly had a serious problem - it took my DM hours to sort through the drawers of wool). I've never been able to match it so have about enough for a doll's tippet.

I had two balls of wool turn up in the post this morning. I ordered them for a project, then found another yarn which I much prefer. Blush

Most of my wool is hidden in my wardrobe behind the big coats and dressing gowns. Then another bit at the top of the wardrobe hidden by bags. Not to mention the many balls downstairs in my craft box and some in my bedside drawer. And one of the food cupboards in the kitchen. And there might be a bit in the sideboard.

As for the fabric? I have a tool box with all the bits and pieces in. Two sewing machines. A small sewing table/cabinet. One of those massive underbed boxes full of fabric, plus a large thick card box full of fabric, and a small storage box full of oddments, ribbons and buttons. Do I qualify? Grin

I will start a a MN Yarnaholics page, if you like, and you could start a Ravelry one (which i will definitely join), and people can join one or both, as they choose.

Mumsnet Yarnaholics here. Ask and I will add you.

roguepixie · 16/10/2013 15:16

That's great SDTG. I'll get onto Rav and sort that out.

Thanks for sorting the FB page. I will join up ... if I can work out what to do Halloween Confused

GemmaTeller · 16/10/2013 15:24

thanks to this thread I'm now watching several ebay listings for 10 balls of sublime merino Grin

I've applied to join the fb group

I don't hide anything from DH, its futile, I just tell him it was in the sale bin therefore a bargain.

roguepixie · 16/10/2013 15:27

God, that was a baptism of fire...have joined facebook and have sent a request to join the Yarnaholics group...at least, I think I have Halloween Confused

RueDeWakening · 16/10/2013 15:28

Can the fabric junkies join in too? Can't do Rav, am incapable of knitting or crocheting, despite my best efforts.

My craft room (it's in the attic) is full of all sorts, I luffs it and I luffs the builders who were very patient and built me a cupboard specially designed to fit my boxes of fabric in even though they did roll their eyes a bit It also features a door handle that the DCs can't open :o

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 16/10/2013 15:36

roguepixie · 16/10/2013 15:37

and other stuff like pipe cleaners, beads, buttons and crafty bits!
