Dilly, your phone box is half done but seems to work - although i had 2 rows too many on the long strip Confused also i was doing a ch2 turn on each row which isn't in the pattern?

I'd use really cheap acrylic then brush him with an old toothbrush to fluff :o Otherwise, Sirdar Snowflake is very very fluffy!

I have 100g 4ply in 100% wool that i bought in Latvia. Do i have enough to make a soaker? What about if i double it up to make worsted?

SoupDragon · 11/08/2012 13:36

Would using a needle felting thing make him fluffy?

DillyTante · 11/08/2012 22:27

Thanks Purple, yes, sorry, I saw your previous post re the turn and chain, will remember to add it on, though for double crochet I would normally chain 1.

I did think today that I could just use a brush or something to fluff it it. Snowflake would be a bit too fluffy I think! Don't want to use too cheap an acrylic though as it's going to be photographed quite closely. It's a bit of an ambitious project, no idea how I am going to do it!

Hello!

Thought I'd pop my head in here :) Currently doing a practice square to translate into a Wooly Hug next week, hopefully :)

I find crochet sooo relaxing, even though I'm not amazing at it. Now, if only I could do it on a plane to take my mind off the flying...

Can I ask a question? I'm working on a square now, but if I was to do lots of squares, how would I make them into a blanket?

SoupDragon · 12/08/2012 18:11

You can do it on a plane :) Buy a bamboo or wooden hook, use nail clippers for yarn cutting and off you go.

OP posts:
SoupDragon · 12/08/2012 18:12

I used these instructions form Attic24 when I did my (so far only) blanket of squares.

PurplePidjin · 12/08/2012 18:21

Either make one big square, or put the squares "wrong" sides together (if they have wrong sides) and crochet through the last round of both squares at the same time :)

LollipopViolet · 12/08/2012 18:25

Yeeeah, I'm liking the "make one big square" suggestion - especially now I'm oh so clever and can change colours at will!

Soupy, your wavy blanket at the start of the thread is my idea of heaven! I might attempt something similar to use up all the old wool I have before buying some lovely new snuggly stuff :)

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 12/08/2012 18:36

I've crocheted squares together, I've also sewn them tgether.

I've just finished a blanket here

Now I need to decide whether to tackle one of my many unfinished projects ro start something new...

LollipopViolet · 12/08/2012 20:29

I have a picture!

woolly-ness

Now I'm going to write "I must count my stitches" 10,000 times, because I don't want my woolly hugs to come out that shape lol!

PurplePidjin · 12/08/2012 20:32

Excellent!

Wolfcub · 13/08/2012 14:05

Over the weekend I managed to finish square number 13 for mum's christmas blanket and bought the rest of the wool that (I think) I'll need to get it finished. Still not sewn any ends in though, lacking discipline!

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 13/08/2012 14:20

Wolfcub, you are racing - that's definately exceeding your 3 a week target. Well done.

JollyHockeyStick · 13/08/2012 14:45

Haha, lollipop, I had exactly the same issue on my first square!

I am working my way through my granny stripe blanket but have run out of yarn. I won't be getting more until Friday so I might actually have to paint the livingroom - we've had 2 walls done for about 2 months so it probably needs done soon!

SoupDragon · 13/08/2012 19:48

My first attempts at crochet looked just like that :)

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/08/2012 14:59

Hookers! Anyone around?!

I am doing a solid granny square, and on youtube she says (after having done the same start as for a normal granny) to do a treble into each of the ones below. Is that actually into the stitch or into the gap between? She says crochet into it, but it really looks like she has gone between.

I will sit here and wait Brew
Actually I won't, I will go in the sun and lie down experiment.

SoupDragon · 14/08/2012 15:37

I usually crochet into the stitch below and then a 2, ch2, 2 (or 2-3-2) formation in the chain space at the corner. That's what the background to the bear squares is.

OP posts:
PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 15:42

Into the stitch, ie the top two loops, Pistey.

Sorry, was distracted by giant parcel - my nappies arrived :o

RatherBeOnThePiste · 14/08/2012 16:16

Oh bugger, I've gone between

It doesn't look awful though, just wrong then? Sad

PurplePidjin · 14/08/2012 16:30

No idea, post a pic and I'll be brutal Wink

SoupDragon · 14/08/2012 16:41

Not wrong, just different :o

KinkyDorito · 14/08/2012 18:21

I'm here just to marvel at you all. I have been trying, thanklessly, to crochet since yesterday night. I'm even struggling to hold the wool properly.

Sigh.

Am determined - have ordered idiot's guide off Amazon. I can do a chain, but that's about it.

You all have my admiration Grin.

SoupDragon · 14/08/2012 18:28

A chain is a damn good start :)

Kinky, search youtube for videos. Google crochet geek, she does both right and left handed and super slow :)
