Not too bad...it hasn't got complicated yet! Hoping to get lots of viewing this saturday and start a bidding war (in my dreams?). But if we get an offer, then we can make a realistic offer on the house we want before it gets sold to someone else.
Finished forms for tonight, off to bed.
Sleep well everyone.
(Good Morning Mishta!!)

NumptyMum · 18/08/2009 14:15

Well the Numpty household now has swine flu - mild, luckily, but I've had a bad headache and aches for days now. Poor DS was vomiting on me last Weds which I thought was due to Norovirus (we've already had this twice). But as I work with people on immunosuppressant drugs I thought I'd better check my symptoms before going to work today, and the GP reckons we probably have mild swine flu - I didn't realise you don't have to have a temperature to have it. Was offered Tamiflu but turned it down, given we've already been ill for a number of days I don't think it would help much. So am now mooching about the house and feeling guilty for all the people I've been in contact with prior to me realising...

Hope everyone else avoids this over their holidays! We're going to visit my folks at the beginning of Sept, so getting swine flu now is probably a good thing, it will stop my Mum worrying (she is an eternal worrier).

Lins - good luck with house selling, my sis has just sold hers so perhaps the market is picking up? Here's hoping...

Tree - sounds like you've been having a bad time with various illnesses too, much tea and sympathy from me. Any improvement?

Mishta - really glad to hear your full CVS results are fine, hopefully you can breathe a sigh of relief and get on with planning that house .

Bye for now...

bezzyk · 18/08/2009 15:36

Bezzy household back from hols, had a lovely time, ate lots and enjoyed the sunshine. Holiday with a 2 year old isn't much of a holiday though....

As for the news, it hasn't sunk in, am in denial for the moment, probably until CVS time, should we get that far (have had previous miscarriage too so first 12 weeks are pretty worrying) to be honest though, haven't stressed much, just taking it one day at a time, and carrying on as normal.

Haven't had a chance to read all the messages from the last week yet, but did see that Lins scan went well

Evening all.
My bump contains karate kid I think....it's getting plenty of exercise in there! Still feeling a bit indifferent to the whole situation, but I suppose it's good to feel it moving about.

Bezzy, Really pleased you had a good hol.
Glad things are ok so far, we've all been keeping our fingers tightly crossed while you were away. Denial worked well for me, - I reckon as long as you take a bit of folic acid, and don't do anything silly, you can ignore it for quite a while and pretend you are feeling ill for other reasons!!
ARe you feeling sick at all yet?

We had an offer on our house today, but as only one of the couple has seen it the estate agent recommended we say wait till you have both seen the house then we'll consider your offer. Maybe we'll get our bidding war after all!!

How is everyone? any lurkers need a bit of tlc? Just post if you need us.

treedelivery · 18/08/2009 23:24

Numpty - hope the oinks leave you quickly! I am sure I had it a few weeks back. All ill here. pass the putrid parcel we are calling it!

bezzy - welcome back and here waiting it out with you till breathing out time. Glad you have been able to enjoy your hols, shame a mysterious millionaire didn't shout a nanny for you Wouldn't be the same without them though would it? Though perhaps between say 6am and 10am we could cope all the same.

Lins - congratulations on the offer! Thats very encouraging. I'm glad you have a jumping bean.

bezzyk · 19/08/2009 09:08

Yay for Lins and the house selling! Looks like you're deservedly having some luck!

Boo for Brighton and the job the though. They don't know what they're missing.

I'm feeling fine, think it's too early for any kind of sickness, going by my dates, I'm around 5 weeks, got my booking in appointment in 2 weeks. Midwife said she'd get me in early, so that I could get my dating scan done as early as possible, in order to get my nuchal booked.

Need to tackle the disaster that is my home today, man it's a mess, think the cat was having parties while we were away, I don't remember leaving it in such a state?!

Laundry on the line already and next load going around...fun fun fun...

BK

PS - forgot to say yesterday, thanks for all of the well wishes, helps a lot being able to confide in you guys, as couldn't possibly tell anyone in RL yet. Plan to keep secret until CVS time. MIL will have to know though, as she's coming to visit next week for THREE weeks....

linspins · 19/08/2009 12:26

Bezzy, at least it's a good drying day! it's very satisfying when washing gets done, dry, and put away on the same day. xx

busierbee · 19/08/2009 15:26

Hello folks
Training was horrendous - it was a battle between me and the constant whirr of the aircon. Had to wear a madonna mike - uncomfortable and self conscious making. Also could hear own voice in head - most disconcerting.
Because the aircon was so noisy- they felt they could talk - I can not tell you how hard i worked. Had to drag my voice up from my pelvic floor - let alone my diaphragm as is recommended.
Also no sleep for Bee - a mixture of jetlag and the usual insomnia. All is not lost though, today we were invited to one of those exclusive expat clubs; like the Great Gatsby or something. 31 degrees and i did not have a swimming costume. Wandered over to the very overpriced on site store - not one single bikini larger than a B cup. Finally squeezed myself into a generous B- but looked faintly ridiculous and you know - bulgy. Swim was divine in this heat however.
Training some Chinese teachers tomorrow - who, I am told, do not interupt, possibly do not even listen as they have their eyes closed usually. Hmm.

Lins- so glad re the house - and hope your offer accepted - fab news re wriggley one in there. You sound in a much better place - stronger - am glad honey.
Bezzy - have already congratulated you in another communicative format (!) but glad you are feeling chipper my love.
Tree- sorry to hear it is infirmary time chez toi - again and also poor you Numpty re the dreaded flu.
Here in HK - lots of staff and passengers at the airport had masks on. I tried my hardest to sneeze very loudly!

Off to watch dvd - no point going to bed since do not sleep anyway.

Missing you all
Bee xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

newspaperdelivery · 19/08/2009 17:06

bezzy - can I just clarify that your mother is coming to visit for 3 weeks?

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@tumbleweed@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Oh my. I don't know what I would do!

Bee - well done on getting through that trial ont he 1st day. Lord help us it sounds awful!
Hope next day a better day. And that you get some sleep!

newspaperdelivery · 19/08/2009 17:10
NumptyMum · 19/08/2009 17:16

I take it that's a tree I hear?

I think it's Mother in Law - !
I get on well with my in-laws, but 3 weeks would probably test that.

Busier - very glad you found a swimming cossie, sounds like you needed to relax after that training session...

Better go, or I'll burn the tea again.

becaroo · 19/08/2009 17:21

Hello!

Still here still battling with my various illnesses still thinking of you all...

Away for a few days now but will try to post when I get back.

Love to all x

bezzyk · 19/08/2009 17:37

yep, it's the mother in law and yep, 3 weeks it is! She's not thaaat bad, and can be quite hands on with mini bez.

She came last year for a couple of weeks and she drove me nuts because she had decided that she had a wheat and gluten intolerance...which was funny cause while we were in France (we went away for a week) she ate some pasta and croissants??? Anyway, she's decided that she's over the intolerance, so hopefully all will be ok.

Well done on getting through day 1 Bee, and congrats on finding a cossie in size 4 land!

linspins · 19/08/2009 18:16

Newspaperdelivery - ok, where did that name come from? Shall we shorten you to 'news' 'paper' or NPD?!!! Made from trees though....

Bee, god what hard work. Hope you get some sleep rest.

I am rapidly turning in to an elephant, and today, a very hot one. phew.

xx

newspaperdelivery · 20/08/2009 01:32

Hello people.

New name due to DM business. I'm in a strange place, I have to be carefull really. If the dm are going to lift and qoute form here, it's important I am not recognised. IF the headline reads 'mn midwife claims no staff on night shift' if I come here and have a moan about a busy night - then I could be in a lot of trouble! I really want to use my skills to chip in around the site, but for now will have to post as a mum only

Sounds like you are maybe starting to feel a bit preggers??

Hope you are feeling better bezzy.

waves to Bee and too all.

Have been captive in house for a week with sick fid and baby. I really hope we can manage a trundle to park tomorrow. Or something!

newspaperdelivery · 20/08/2009 01:32

Lins - feel preggers as in something other than the pukes!

babypanda · 20/08/2009 13:53

Hi Ladies

Firstly, I'd like to apologise I've been lurking for quite a while, not writing mainly as I didn't want to intrude.

I came across mumsnet in March this year after my Nuchal test. Unfortunately the result was 1 in 11 for downs and after receiving the results of the amnio, we terminated the pregnancy on 1 April (from memory a similar time to when your lovely Busier Bee was going through the same horrid experience).

The reason I have finally decided to "show" myself is that I wanted to share with you some good news: I am pregnant again and the nuchal test this time was 1 in 1234 which is great considering the risk before the scan and bloods was 1 in 68.

I was convinced of course that the results would be bad the second time arond and am not sure of why it might be so good this time but we had been recommended to see an acupuncturist which we did early in April.

The lovely little Chinese lady gave me acupuncture every fortnight and assured me that she could "fix" my eggs. I have no idea whether she did or not but really wanted to share my story with you and ask if anyone has heard of acupuncture for the treatment of "old" eggs. I will be 39 in October.

On recommendation from my obstetrician and acupuncturist, I had one period before trying again. I fell pregnant the second time I ovulated.

We have decided not to risk the amnio and cvs this time as numbers were so much better than we'd hoped.

Well, I'd better get to sleep. I am in Australia and its getting late. Would love to hear anyone's thoughts on acupuncture.

bezzyk · 20/08/2009 14:04

Hello Panda

Welcome! and congratulations on your wonderful news, an inspiration to all of us

Hope to see you about soon xxx

NumptyMum · 20/08/2009 17:39

Hi PandaBaby

I've never had acupuncture, but remember watching the most incredible TV programme filmed in China where people had it for SURGERY! (ie instead of anaesthetic). So for some things, it works. I can see how it would work for pain relief. But I think like most treatments, unless you have money to do a controlled and monitored trial on a large group of people, there is no way of proving whether it would work to 'fix eggs' (and I'm less sure I see the logic of that), so you'd just have to take it on trust, or think that it helped - who knows...

Anyway, the main thing is that you have a healthy pregnancy, particularly after your sad time in March/April. Congrats !

NumptyMum · 20/08/2009 17:53

(but equally I was very happy to try reflexology to avoid induction for my first baby... and there's probably even less logic to that!)

bezzyk · 20/08/2009 18:04

did it work, numpty?!

linspins · 20/08/2009 18:19

Baby panda - congratulations! I too lost a baby in March, and am now almost 18 weeks pregnant. I have never heard of acupuncture to fix 'old' eggs - and think I'm a bit dubious about it!! However, I did have acupuncture when trying to conceive once...it didn't work. Then I tried reflexology...this worked! But sometimes getting pregnant can be so stressful that anything you think will work can help just as relaxant and placebo. Don't see how it could change the baby's health though, but very glad for you that this pregnancy is going so well.

Right, time for nightly toothbrushing and bedtime struggle with Dd.

xxx

NumptyMum · 20/08/2009 18:39

Hi Bezzy

Well, the reflexologist did say I wasn't ready at the point I saw her, and thought I would go into labour at the weekend. As I was finally booked in for induction at the weekend, that seemed inevitable - but at the last minute, my waters broke and labour started. So who knows? Unfortunately by that time I was so tired and stressed that I went to sleep and my contractions fizzled out, so I was on the drip anyway...

But the reflexology was a nice treat anyway for someone heavily pregnant who could hardly reach her own feet .

NumptyMum · 20/08/2009 18:50

oops, just realised I called Babypanda PandaBaby instead, sounds very austin powers... sorry!

luckywinner · 20/08/2009 19:48

Hi all, hope you are all well and enjoying lovely weather wherever you are. I have run away to the countryside again, and off on hols sunday for a week.

Am ok, had a huge wobble at the weekend when I had to go to a hen weekend and pretend all was happy joy. Ho-hum.

Will post lots more when back from hols.
lots of love
