Fetal reduction - twins to singleton

Hello,
I know that this may seem offensive to some, and I apologise in advance for this: I am desperate for some advice: I am 7 weeks pregnant with twins (non-identical). After 2 weeks on an emotional rollercoaster, I have decided that I cannot cope with twins due to health, emotional, practical, financial reasons. I am considering fetal reduction.
There seems to be very little information about fetal reduction from twins to a singleton. The doctors seem to default to termination of both. Has anyone got experience with fetal reduction in the UK? Where do I go for more information, either NHS or private?
Any information would be very useful. Thanks a million!

(Please do not post judgement: it has been a difficult decision, and it still is a difficult time).

Have you spoken to your midwife or gp about how you are feeling?

Sorry, I think it's either both or neither. Else you have to keep the existence of twin secret from siblings, friends and family forever.

Rightly or wrongly, people will not understand. Everyone knows happy healthy twins, many people have two DCs close together.

You will never be able to talk about it.

Reducing triplets is different the risks of prematurity are much higher.

Honestly the possibility of a multiple pregnancy has to be something that comes to mind when you ttc. Even with none in the wider family, its always possible that a pregnancy can be a multiple. Its the equivalent (to me) of getting pregnant and then not wanting the baby based on its sex.

It sounds like you are in shock op, which is understandable.

It is not a good place to make decisions from though. Terminating twins to a singleton is a risky procedure, and likely one you will find few consultants will agree to for social reasons.

I agree asking on the twins board: they can reassure you about how it can be manageable.

This is a message for mostly happy post in 2010 as I am in a similar situation having found out we are expecting twins and we are both older parents and feel we are unable to cope as we also have no network around us to help . I wanted to ask if you reduce your pregnancy ? And if so was there someone to help you. I am very stressed and please don't judge me this decision as you have said is not an easier one, but I'm desperate for some help .

I would really appreciate advice on recommended hospitals / clinics in UK for selective reduction. I've read about Kings Hospital and am awaiting a callback but where else could we go....?
We have an abnormality with one of our twins and made the agonising decision that selective reduction is best solution for us and prospects of the currently healthy twin. We live in Ireland though so need to travel to UK which is further adding to the agony of the decision and process ahead....thanks for your advice.
