I had my 12 week Nuchal scan today and the combined result came back as 1:3 risk for trisomy. The nuchal measurement itself was 6mm. Bloods were:

Free Beta HcG 24.790 IU/U equivalent to 0.6825 MoM
PAPP-A: 0.200 IU/I equivalent to 0.1823 MoM

Just wanted to post to see if anyone had any thoughts, positive stories or suggestions for me... My CVS is tomorrow...6th April

Nothing to stop you ringing - I bet most people would and do by this point! Worst case scenario the results aren't in - nothing more. Best case scenario they are, they just hadn't got around to ringing you yet. And if nothing else, they'll know how frantic you are and may well ring you sooner.

Thinking of you! It is no fun living your life minute to minute waiting for something so hugely important.

Dilligaf81 · 11/04/2011 14:13

Ring them... I had mine on a wed and they said I might know by Friday, I didnt so called them on Monday and got the result (all clear). They really wont mind OR you could call the consultants secretary and she will chase it.

After the result came back clear for us we had further scans and the cord wasnt working properly but heart etc was fine. I has fortnightly scans to check growth etc but she was born a day late 10lb 1oz with a massive fat neck!

I have my fingers crossed for you xx

KnitterNotTwitter · 11/04/2011 17:41

Just phone them and apparently there is a delay... They're just getting results back from the lab for people who had CVS on the day before me.... so Tomorrow or Wed... My worry is that I'm 13 weeks now.. If it is bad news they only do removals on Mon, Wed and Fri... I really don't want a removal on Friday as I'm at a Wedding on Sat and my parents Ruby Wedding 'do' on Sunday... But I also don't want to be pg for them as I'm quite bumpy now... Aggg....

But chances are (2 in 3) that everything is ok and I'll be worrying unnecessarily...

Im really sorry, the waiting is awful.
Remember the odds are in your favour. xx

mrsbigz · 11/04/2011 20:35

oh hun, i'm sorry there's been a delay with your results, the waiting period is truly awful and i hope they ring you first thing with good news. will be thinking of you xxxxxxxxxx

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/04/2011 09:33

Thanks ladies... I've told work I'm not going in until I get the news - so at least I'm getting to enjoy the good weather... see thinking positive :-)

Thats a good idea, I went into work and was a wreck but didnt want to stay at home with the other DC's running about. Luckily my boss is a legend and was great, but still must have been a bit weird for him.

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts
xx

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/04/2011 20:17

Still no news.... PLEASE , please, please tomorrow..

I just want to know where I stand...

I'm kicking myself in many ways. The CVS is covered by my work private medical insurance but the NHS were offering it literally the next morning so I thought I'd go for it - didn't consider that there was going to be such a long wait for the results... Bet private results would be back by now..

LisamumtoJake · 12/04/2011 20:21

So sorry you are having to wait this out, it must be truly awful. I really hope they ring tomorrow for you, all fingers crossed here for some news at least x

Cinnamondog · 12/04/2011 20:30

Knitter - just had to send you a massive virtual hug, and say I am so sorry you are being made to wait like this. It's pretty appalling; I know no one does these things deliberately but this is so, so important. Fingers extra crossed for tomorrow and for the good news you deserve xxx

KnitterNotTwitter · 12/04/2011 20:38

It actually puts me in a horrible situation not knowing... aside from the not knowing bit....I'm going to a wedding of one of my group of friends from school on Saturday and then my parents Ruby Wedding party is on Sunday...

If the hospital call me tomorrow with bad news I would, from a practicalities point of view, want to wait until the Monday for any termination. BUT that would mean being obviously bumpy at a wedding and party with a lot of friends who will guess. I wouldn't want to lie to them but also I think some of them would be uncomfortable knowing that I'd decided to have a termination and i wouldn't want to create a scene or bad atmosphere at either event. Such a fuck up... excuse my language.

Dilligaf81 · 12/04/2011 20:59

That is rubbish but if it was bad news would you be in the right frame of mind to go to the wedding or the party? I knwo you dont want to miss out on wither of these occasions but I didnt go to a very goos friends weddign when we were waiting for results as I knew some would guess.

x

Dilligaf81 · 12/04/2011 21:00

Sorry that should be know either good wedding

manitz · 12/04/2011 21:03

yes I was going to say similar - I'm not sure I would have felt up to a wedding. However if it is good news it could be fantastic...

PoppysMom · 13/04/2011 06:19

Fingers crossed for today Knitter

(((hugs)))

Overreactionoftheweek · 13/04/2011 07:03

really hope you get your result today and it's positive news for you - keeping everything crossed

KnitterNotTwitter · 13/04/2011 13:08

Thanks so much everyone. I've chased the hospital again and they still didn't have the results through... So they offered to phone the lab and get back to me, which they just did. Not good news. My bean has Down's Syndrome.

My next steps are to go and see the doctor at the Foetal Medicine Unit tomorrow to have a termination approved and then time/date booked.

Thank you so much for your care and support over this last, very difficult, week. It has meant so much to me.

KnitterNotTwitter · 13/04/2011 13:53

Thanks so much everyone...

Bumps I've told the Oct 11 bus now - but I guess you've seen that

Wiggles lovely to see you. If it's appropriate feel free to mention my news on the Feb 11 thread - you're all such lovely ladies and I've followed your stories so closely since my MC that took me off that bus.

DH has come home from work early to cuddle me so I'd better get off MNet!
