Who told workers at an immigration centre to paint over colourful artwork of cartoon characters in an immigration centre accepting children because it was too "welcoming".

Tory minister told staff to paint over art for asylum centre kids, charity boss says

Those cuddly Tories at it again...

Have any decent Tory MPs made a statement condemning Jenrick?

I would be so shocked if any of those scum bags said anything

TinyRebel · 05/07/2023 21:24

I am unfortunate enough to be one of Jenprick’s constituents. I can’t say we’re friends exactly😬. I went to see him at one of his surgeries to see if he could do anything about the threatened closure of a local charity/service (financial reasons). He refused point blank to listen when we told him we’d tried for X grant but didn’t fall within the catchment - completely dismissed and ignored us.

When he was first elected he promised he’d move himself and family ‘lock stock and barrel’ to his constituency (ha!) but he rarely ventures up here, especially now he’s lost his driving licence for speeding one too many times. The taxpayer rents him a house constituency address to the tune of £2k a month.

Sadly he will probably be voted in again because you could tie a blue ribbon on a baboon and they’d vote for it around here. I believe his local party aren’t keen on him but as the local opposition are so rubbish it’s not looking hopeful that we’ll be able to get rid.

He’s a horrid, doughy little man, with an utter harridan of a wife. She’s a good ten years his senior, incredibly wealthy and definitely wears the trousers. Being an MP is definitely his little side project and he doesn’t do this job to be of any public service.

Seems that asylum centre staff are ignoring Jenrick and not painting over the cartoon character murals at the centre in Kent

Blossomtoes · 05/07/2023 21:33

Bigger Tory majorities than Jenrick’s are predicted to be overturned next time @TinyRebel.

PencilsInSpace · 05/07/2023 21:36

YANBU, what an arsehole.

Can the party not de-select him and get a better person to do the job?

Yeah but a least he knows what a woman is 🙄

Blossomtoes · 06/07/2023 14:53

Sure does. They all do and this is what they think of us.

strawberrywhisk · 06/07/2023 14:56

It's probably far fetched, but the more I watch the government's antics, the more I'm thinking we are being coerced from a democracy into a dictatorship

Frabbits · 06/07/2023 14:57

He's a tory. What do you expect?

nearlyemptynes · 06/07/2023 14:59

He is not the brightest spark. He is from Wolverhampton as am I. He launched a competition from there for the best town in Europe, but Wolverhampton is a City!

Skodacool · 06/07/2023 21:01

Jenrick is one of the worst for his smugness in getting away with sleaze. Add cruelty to the mix and you have the perfect tory.

Nikki7506 · 07/07/2023 17:00

Evil.
A bloke who broke lockdown rules at least twice and got banned for doing 68mph in a 40mph.
You'd think having 3 young daughters he'd have a shred of empathy.
This centre is specially designed for traumatised lone child migrants.
Sick that we pay his wages!!

RogersOrganismicProcess · 07/07/2023 20:48

Absolutely evil and vile! What the bollocks would be wrong with showing a little welcome to children who are traumatised and alone?

AnOrange · 07/07/2023 20:50

I keep thinking I must have misunderstood this story but I don’t think I have. It’s so awful.

Northernsouloldies · 07/07/2023 20:59

What kind of mindset do you have to have to come up with that idea. Vile little creature, while it's being painted be as well roll out the barb wire stockade. Racist cunt.

SingingNettles · 07/07/2023 21:17

anniegun · 04/07/2023 15:40

Typical Tory. Performance cruelty to get vote from racists

That second sentence sums it up nicely.

JazbayGrapes · 07/07/2023 21:35

Looks like PR stunt. Will certainly appeal to some lowlife fascists, while doing zilch to resolve the actual crisis.

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/07/2023 21:47

How low have the Tories sunk if they view unnecessary cuntishness to traumatised children as "good PR".🤦‍♀️🤯

Northernsouloldies · 07/07/2023 22:05

He's an odious little bastard to have even thought that up. Children have no say when they're put in those boats, terrifying wouldn't come close to describing experiencing that.

Eveninginparis · 07/07/2023 22:40

I agree with him but not for the reasons he gave.

Remember that these children are coming from cultures unfamiliar with these cartoon characters and could find them quite scary with their big eyes and red mouths

Murals

Minister Robert Jenrick ordered painting over of child asylum unit murals

Robert Jenrick is reported to have considered the cartoon images in the Dover centre too welcoming.

Northernsouloldies · 07/07/2023 22:58

Yes because children are scared of bright colours and smiling faces, have you noticed children's toys are bright colours.
