Who told workers at an immigration centre to paint over colourful artwork of cartoon characters in an immigration centre accepting children because it was too "welcoming".

We are the third most densely populated country in Europe (first is Holland, then Netherlands)

It was you who quoted Holland as a separate country. Right here (see above). In your post. Which was incorrect for all the reasons stated above by posters with a better grasp of European geography.

So you have devoted an 2 hours at least and about 6 posts to bully me into correcting a typo.
You really are a sad person aren't you?

OK then write to him, it will have more effect than posting here

Or I can say it here same as everyone else.

Eveninginparis · 11/07/2023 19:15

No it doesn't.
I don't give a flying fig how many refugees etc other countries are taking in.

We are the third most densely populated country in Europe (first is Holland, then Netherlands)

We don't have the room or the infrastructure to do any more than what we are already doing at the moment.

It always amuses me that those people who want an 'open door' policy for refugees/migrants etc are the first to complain when they can't get their kids in the school of their choice/can't get a doctor's appointment, roads are snarled up with traffic, there is a food shortage etc etc

You are easily amused. Our infrastructure is shit because our government is shit. Fuck, Jthe Home Office is happy to waste resources making things shit. That takes some dedication.

A question @Eveninginparis : why is this Tory government making things as shit as they can for everyone

Yes, but how will that make a difference?

It still is a lame excuse.

Mickey Mouse is not age limited

It's also what was not in the media last week.

Jenrick was accused of being heartless and even "a bit mean" (Farage) because it was thought it was because he wanted to make the UK not feel welcome.

If I was accused of that, I would make sure that I would make sure people knew that it was because I did not think it was age appropriate.

And the question to Jenrick - should they paint teenage murals to make it welcoming for teenagers?

I wonder what he would say to that?

I have no doubt some people are fleeing the effects of climate change. Crop failure, drought etc brought on by manmade climate change.

Presumably those who are so vocal about their being too many refugees are also supporters of Just stop oil?

Yeah, I mean, all those letters are next to each other on the keyboard.

It really doesn't take me 2 hours to type 6 messages. 😂Some people might have that problem, but not me.

@Eveninginparis do you agree with me that it is scandalous that Greenland has not taken in more refugees?

Despite what Jenrick claims, Scotland is already taking their fair share

What did Jenrick claim though?
During an exchange in the House of Commons on 19 December 2022, Robert Jenrick, the UK immigration minister, accused the Scottish Government of refusing to take asylum seekers arriving in across the Channel on small boats.
Mr Jenrick claimed that only Glasgow is doing its “fair share” in taking asylum seekers in Scotland. He said that “only a dozen” hotels outside of Glasgow are taking asylum seekers...

Seems to fit this BBC article from 2021 - is the situation still the same?

No.

Why the emotive language?

As I don't know how many refugees Greenland has taken in I'm not really in a position to comment.

Frankly I'm not interested, as each country will be deciding it's own quota if at all.
Seems some EU countries can't agree.

Hungary Firm on Its ‘No Migration’ Policy - SchengenVisaInfo.com

Greenland isn't entirely a country either - it is best described as a part of Denmark operating under maximum devolution, like Scotland on speed.

Hungary isn't a country any of us should be admiring in terms of its politics and its politicians.

DuncinToffee · 11/07/2023 20:58

Be more like Hungary, great example for a race to the bottom

Greenland's population density is very low, and yet it takes no refugees, this is surely shocking to you?

Or does population density only matter when it comes to the Netherlands and Holland?

Mickey Mouse is not age limited

depictions of popular Disney characters including Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh and Baloo from the Jungle Book.

Doesn't seem very age appropriate for teenagers to me.

Ever thought of writing for Mills & Boon??

Are any of those characters age restricted?

Would your teenage children be insulted if they saw them in a children's a&e?

Do you agree with removing them?
