ok,i know it sounds mean...but yestrday, whilst i was visiting my gran with my 3 dc,youngest being 7 weeks, a carer asked if she could show the baby to the residents.

i felt i had to say yes.

i watched as she walked round the room with him.

fair enough,i know everyone loves a baby, and it would brighten their day,but she was letting thm touch his face and kiss him!!yuk!

i was getting very hot and bothered and eventually she handed him back.

the thing is,i know the other day my own gran had an 'awful exprience'which involved poo,and i noticed she had some on her cardi...so god knows what they've got on their hands/clothes.

am going to say no next time and i know they'll think i'm a cow...so,aibu?

My Grandmother (now sadly no longer with us) had a similar experience to your Grandfather BoffinMum... minus the view of the Alps! Because she was fairly wealthy, this was possible, but the care home cost nearly £700 per week, 6 years ago.

We just can't afford this for my other Grandma and it breaks my heart. If I thought I could cope, I'd have her with me but she is awake for much of the night and can get very agressive. I also have 2 children, still at home, that she has taken an intense dislike to since she became ill.

I wish all care homes treated our elderly with the repect that the expensive ones seem to... I'm sure there are a few fantastically run council and SS ones but they do seem to be in a minority.

boffinmum,that looks ideal doesn't it?
grans home is top end, again without the alps view!!
they have therapies, and art classes etc, there is a hair salon, and lovely gardens.

i think women will always coo over a baby though don't you?human nature...

think men are more likely to just smile at them, ladies usually want a hold.

i was at the home over the weekend and i put ds in my ring sling, one of the carers came over and was admiring him,i definitely think if he hadn't been in there she would have asked for a cuddle
