While getting frozen mixed peppers out of a bag (for my tea they are ideal on pizza)I noticed a lot of green ones about 80% in fact.Looking on the back it said 34% green and 33% red and yellow
The next bag I get I am going to seperate the colours and weigh them and complain if the percentages do not match

This reminds me of a bag of drawing pins I got many years ago which said to contain 180,after counting them it came up 12 short,I am still cross about that

oooooooooh I am so vexed

at "many physice"

yy about crisps. I think the "will they or won't they be stale?" question, added an element of learning to deal with disappointment. Damn those shiny silver bags

Jasonthunderpants · 23/06/2010 19:56

I lived by myself when i bought the drawing pins and cannot remember why I needed so many. It was over 10 yrs ago

I once opened a packet of cheese and onion walkers (part of a multi pack) and there were none in it. Just fresh air

I was most disgusted.

BexieID · 23/06/2010 20:00

We're growing yellow peppers this year as Tom loves them. All the wee peppers are still green atm. FIL is growing green ones.

I had a kitkat once with no wafer in.

Hassled · 23/06/2010 20:01

I'm giggling like a loon at the image of a bag of air - did the air smell like Cheese&Onion?

GeekOfTheWeek · 23/06/2010 20:02

Kitkat with no wafer?

That sounds like heaven.

canella · 23/06/2010 20:02

i think they do think we're stupid!

i always used to buy a multipack of golden delicious apples - say it was £1.50. then one week it was on buy one multipack get one free and each bag was then maybe £2.20. because it was something i bought every week i had a rough idea of the price so emailed them to complain and got some bullshit reply back about the changing price of apples being reflected in the price!

funny the minute the offer was finished they were back to being £1.50!!

never shopped there again!

GeekOfTheWeek · 23/06/2010 20:04

It was just an empty blue bag

Not a whiff of cheese and onion.

Seriously, my face was like this

Not an experience I wish to repeat!

carlymarx · 23/06/2010 20:04

Geek - I witnessed the no-biscuit-breakaway thing happen to my mum sometime in the early eighties. To this day I still experience a frisson of excitement when opening a chocolate biscuit... thinking... this time it could be me!

Hassled · 23/06/2010 20:05

If it has smelt of Cheese&Onion you could at least have passed it off as some sort of Heston Blumenthal experience. You were robbed.

GeekOfTheWeek · 23/06/2010 20:06

carly, the search for the elusive no biscuit biscuit continues.

It is all worth it when you find one though

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 20:08

canella - quite right. vote with your feet.

Was buying a kettle in Sainsbos (I know, I know, but Waitrose too far away), and there was this one that they claimed was half price, at 29.99, previous price £59.99.

What a load of shit. The most expensive full-price kettle they had there (are you still awake?) was £49, and that had all sorts of whistles and bells (which this one didn't). So I seriously doubt it was half price. Liars

CwtchyBlueMama · 23/06/2010 20:14

I remember trying to open a bottle of squash yrs ago & the lid had no perforations on it,it bloody wouldnt open at all.

I remember my Dad bursting it open with his screwdriver & it spilt all over the rug,Mum went apeshit.

ChutesTooNarrow · 23/06/2010 20:14

What's with all the green pepper hate? I love them. And hate red and yellow ones. Could some sort of pepper swap be set up whereby all unwanted green ones are sent to me?

LadyBlaBlah · 23/06/2010 20:15

DH works for a food manufacturer and they had a complaint last week that instead of a best before date on a jar of pasta sauce, someone had changed the print to say "Best Before: Fuck Off"

I hope that person doesn't get fired

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 20:16

Cwtchy - don't get me started on difficult-to-open packaging.

Chutes - you are weird, but that's an excellent idea

AfternoonsandCoffeespoons · 23/06/2010 20:16

I once had a chunky kitkat with no wafer in it. I can honestly say that no life experience has ever matched up to that!!

lal123 · 23/06/2010 20:16

I always felt robbed when as a child I breathlessly opened the Sunpat peanut butter expecting to be bathed in shards of light, only to find not jarred up sunshine as I was hoping for but just plain old peanut butter. At first I thought that this was because someone else (possibly my twin brother) had already let the sunshine out. But no, even when I opened a new jar - NO SUNSHINE!!! Lying bastards - destroying the hopes of a young child.

And those ready brek folk have a lot to answer for too...

CwtchyBlueMama · 23/06/2010 20:24

I remeber having a blue riband with no wafer in it at my friends house,it was Sunday evening & it was buffet tea as was the norm on Sundays,my friend was for yrs after.

BalloonSlayer · 23/06/2010 20:24

GeekoftheWeek were you really all that horrifically shocked?

Did the fact that the packet was completely flat and didn't weigh anything not alert you to its emptiness?

I have found my spiritual home with those whose life has been completed by waferless wafer biscuits. The magic of the occasion when half of one finger of my four finger Kit-Kat was pure chocolate has never quite left me after thirty years.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 20:24

lal - I expect that has tainted your life in ways which are only now coming to light

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 20:26

Cwtchy - did you have a trolley too? We had a buffet on Sunday. With Viscount biscuits

Mercedes519 · 23/06/2010 20:26

Lal, I was always scared of ready brek as I didn't want to glow all over. All chocolate kit-kat I've had ones where the ends were really thick but never the holy Grail...
