While getting frozen mixed peppers out of a bag (for my tea they are ideal on pizza)I noticed a lot of green ones about 80% in fact.Looking on the back it said 34% green and 33% red and yellow
The next bag I get I am going to seperate the colours and weigh them and complain if the percentages do not match

This reminds me of a bag of drawing pins I got many years ago which said to contain 180,after counting them it came up 12 short,I am still cross about that

oooooooooh I am so vexed

Can I just explain, Betty Spaghetti pasta isn't like Barbie spaghetti or Ben Ten luncheon meat, its pasta that is all twirly like Betty Spaghetti's hair. It has a posh name. I am not posh. I don't know it.

Tidey · 23/06/2010 19:28

Ahhh, those were the days...

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 23/06/2010 19:32

Jamie - I am really sorry to have to tell you this, but it could happen at waitrose. Dh and I treated ourselves to a ready meal from waitrose - chicken in a red winesauce with mushrooms, bacon and chestnuts.

The bacon and chestnuts were minute shards - I doubt they added up to a couple of rashers of bacon or a single chestnut - but the worst part was the mushrooms - in fact, there wasn't even one whole mushroom - I counted 3 quarters of a button mushroom - not even a field mushroom, a button one! I complained and got a voucher.

thisisyesterday · 23/06/2010 19:32

green peppers are just unripe red/yellow/orange peppers afaik! so that's why there are so many of them, cos they make more money if they pick and sell them instead of waiting for them to ripen

also... from wikipedia:

Compared to green peppers, red peppers have more vitamins and nutrients and contain the antioxidant lycopene. The level of carotene, another antioxidant, is nine times higher in red peppers. Red peppers also have twice the vitamin C content of green peppers.[4

so, you SHOULD be angry. not only are they giving you manky bitter unripe peppers but they're diddling you out of your lycopene and vit c!

Songbiirdheartsfootball · 23/06/2010 19:32

I bought some from Asda and had the same problem, won't be getting them again! Green peppers are most definitely horrible tasting.

EnglandAllenPoe · 23/06/2010 19:33

surely it only gives estimated averages of the colour make up of the contents? as they can't guarantee the same mixin each bag?

of course you could take it back and complain ...

PortiaNovmerriment · 23/06/2010 19:34

Joined together shreddies just proves that they are stamped out of a sheet and not individually knitted by nanas at all. Rip-off Britain, absolutely. They must think we have heads that button up the back

thisisyesterday · 23/06/2010 19:35

we once had a big family pack of maltesers (ie, a giant bag full of small packs of maltesers)

I opened one and found that it only had 4 maltesers in it
I wrote to them and said, I realised they were family packs, but I expected more than 1 malteser per person

they sent me 4 £1 vouchers. 1 for each malteser

LadyBlaBlah · 23/06/2010 19:35

I find this green pepper prejudice really disturbing. You guys need to take a long hard look at yourselves

thisisyesterday · 23/06/2010 19:36

of course it'll be an estimated average. but you would expect there to be a much smaller margin of "error" so to speak

80% green and 10% each of yellow and red is pretty far from the average!!!

Jasonthunderpants · 23/06/2010 19:38

I do take a long hard look at myself every night before bed and think to myself
Wow I am handsome

My friend once had a creme egg that had no creme in it. Was just chocolate. He was going to send it back to Cadbury but decided to eat it instead.

Green peppers are nasty.

GeekOfTheWeek · 23/06/2010 19:43

I had that in a breakaway chocolate biscuit. There was no biscuit, just chocolate. A very exciting experience iirc

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 19:44

Well, I'm sat here in a heap of shattered illusions. But chestnuts SDTG, what were you thinking?!

Jason - no that was not me. But it was me standing behind Keith Chegwin in a Majorettes uniform

LadyBlaBlah · 23/06/2010 19:44

Handsome maybe, albeit with a bad attitude to green peppers. And its all about attitude

If you have a can of tuna and wish to make a nice sandwich then you can do no better than green pepper very finely diced along with some finely diced onion, mixed with mayonnaise, topped with some rocket

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 23/06/2010 19:46

I love you Jasonthunderpants and jamieandhismagictorch....

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 19:47

Lady - what is the pepper adding there, though?

taste? - no, the onions and tuna cover that
texture? - the onions
colour? - the rocket

green pepper - redundant

Hassled · 23/06/2010 19:48

Geek - I had that with a Club biscuit once. No biscuit whatsoever. Damn, it was good.
I didn't complain.

Jason - you need to embrace the Green Pepper. They grow on you, like olives (they don't actually grow on you).

But I need to know more about the drawing pins - why did you need 180 anyway? What were you planning to pin? Was it a younger sibling?

gormlessdinner · 23/06/2010 19:49

Were the frozen peppers from Tesco? They always do this AND they always have more green peppers in the fresh mixed bag AND there are always too many stupid green ones on their pizzas too.

I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 19:50

Hassled - I expect he has pin-boards with lists of his various campaigns and beefs.

I miss the black bits on crisps

Jamieandhismagictorch · 23/06/2010 19:51

we are on fire today.

Tidey · 23/06/2010 19:52

Is it dangerous to eat green crisps? Oooh, and I've just remebered I once had a bag of cheese and onion crisps and one of them was purple.

Jasonthunderpants · 23/06/2010 19:53

Ladyblablah
green peppers are nice in very small doses.I dont dispute that It is just that I dont want a bag full of the buggers

INEEDMORECHOCOLATENOW
have you been peeping through my window as I admire my many physice

OP posts:
Hassled · 23/06/2010 19:53

Black bits on crisps were good. They added an additional challenge - avoiding crisp wastage, but yet not eating weird black stuff. There aren't enough challenges like that for children today.

Maybe the pins were for photos of Jason winning bodybuilder awards? I see Jason as a bodybuilder type.

ravenAK · 23/06/2010 19:55

But the green ones have most flavour, & look prettier in tomato-ey sauces.

I always seem to get way too many yellows in economy fresh peppers - sickly & bland. They must be, because they are the only vegetable ds will eat...
