...to find this absolutely disgusting?

Coming out of the supermarket today I was met with a common occurrence - a young mum, loading her MPV with shopping, kids inside, doors wide open, chuffing away on a fag!
I suppose I'm one of those detestable creatures, an ex-smoker, but I'm pretty sure I never did this!
Am I being a complete snob? Incredibly judgemental?

YABU and judgy (I am a non smoker). She is outside in the open and not inside.

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 26/05/2010 20:54

Are you being a complete snob? Incredibly judgemental?

Yes and yes.

LemonMelon · 26/05/2010 20:56

2/10

ArseHolio · 26/05/2010 20:57

I think you need to get yourself a life.

8rubberduckies · 26/05/2010 20:58

YABU full stop.

If she was smoking in the car with her kids you'd be justified in being "disgusted"

moonstorm · 26/05/2010 20:58

YANBU

Smoking is disgusting

stinkyface · 26/05/2010 20:59

mmmmm, judgy mcjudgy...

nowt to do with you really is it?

HeadFairy · 26/05/2010 20:59

You are being judgey, were you absolutely sure she was the children's mother? She could have been a friend looking after the children for a neighbour. Either way, I hate smoking around children but outside is hardly going to kill them.

JackBauer · 26/05/2010 21:00

Yes to both.

LadyBlaBlah · 26/05/2010 21:00

It honestly doesn't matter.

ABatInBunkFive · 26/05/2010 21:00

Young mum - tick
Smoker - tick
MVP - tick

Was she in a disabled space? Loads of kids to different fathers? Was it actually a joint?

Could be better tbh.

JackBauer · 26/05/2010 21:01

In fact, when i go on long journeys with the DD's I have been known to load them into seats, start a dvd and stand by the boot smnoking to keep me awake that little bit longer.
I must be a terrible mother.

Morloth · 26/05/2010 21:01

These kids were in a carpark? You were going to get into a giant machine that pumps out carbon monoxide?

paisleyleaf · 26/05/2010 21:01

I bet she was getting one in before getting into the car with the children.

chesgirlNOTgriffins · 26/05/2010 21:01

She was probably having the fag at that time because her kids were in the car, she was out of it and she doesnt smoke in the car or house.

Sounds pretty responsible to me.

Amapoleon · 26/05/2010 21:02

Hahaha! I wasn't expecting the replies you got.

SmellsLikeTeenSweat · 26/05/2010 21:02

Smoking should be something we do when we're young & silly, and give it up BEFORE we have children. Should. But it doesn't always work that way. I'm with you, though. I hate to see it. It sets such a bad example to the children.

LadyBlaBlah · 26/05/2010 21:03

I would have preferred it if the windows were shut tightly too

Trafficcone · 26/05/2010 21:04

She was outside the car?? Oh big fat hairy deal!! Do you have any idea how much second hand smoke our parents generation were exposed to? Everywhere they went, all day, every day and I only know 2 people to have died of smoking related cancer. Both were heavy smokers themselves for 40 odd years not victims of smoky pubs or god forbid a woman smoking in a carpark!!!!

I don't smoke but see no issue with anyone smoking while outdoors.

MrsRhettButler · 26/05/2010 21:05

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

SixtyFootDoll · 26/05/2010 21:07

Did she have fruit shoots as well?

Kupugani · 26/05/2010 21:10

I need a fag after a supermarket shop with the kids. And I don't even smoke. YABU.

ValBollycella · 26/05/2010 21:12

Was she loading her crate of Stella/wine/cider into her MPV while she puffed away?

Were the kids drinking fruit shoots?
