Or not?

for the last time. THIS IS NOT A THREAD ABOUT A THREAD. I feel like Ross shouting "we were on a break." But I can't be bothered to keep doing it so I'm off.

If people are offended by it, it's their problem. They are seeing offence where none is present or intended.

hully don't go, which bit are you not finding amusing

there's nothing we can't make a joke about these days doncha know

FranSanDisco · 26/05/2010 13:17

Ooh yes I see Pixi she is a rather serious one that backto..... isn't she?

Hullygully · 26/05/2010 13:18

And one last clarification. It is not a joke about paedophiles. It is a joke about people seeing them everywhere. There is a subtle difference.

OP posts:
FranSanDisco · 26/05/2010 13:18

Gay40 - that really is wrong.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 26/05/2010 13:19

Come on, what is so funny about abuse?

DeFluffy · 26/05/2010 13:19

Come on, 'not a thread about a thread' get real If you're going to dish it out at least be able to take it.

I like the jokes about people seeing paedophiles everywhere.

I don't like the jokes about other posters who you know to be upset by other thread.

why would you do that?

emptyshell · 26/05/2010 13:20

I'm a teacher - we sit every day and plot ways to just personally inconvenience and be utterly unreasonable to you and your child. It's disgusting the way we dare to try to educate them as well. We were responsible for the snow with our Evil Teacher Snow Generating Machine (TM) and we turned off the heatwave generator yesterday because the electricity bill came in (the energy company is more evil than us).

Seriously - it's sometimes how I feel on sites like these.

I read the original thread - is it any wonder men don't want to go into teaching when they're instantly viewed with suspicion? One of the best reception teachers I know is, shockingly, a bloke!

AgentZigzag · 26/05/2010 13:20

If the title to your OP wasn't true, then yes, it would be funny.

But recently it's been made all to clear that even upstanding, longserving members of staff aren't averse to taking sexually explicit photographs of the children they're supposed to be caring for.

If you really wanted amusement, perhaps you could start a thread about bumsex/fruitshoots/your friend marrying an alien. This is just a bit close to the bone.

Bucharest · 26/05/2010 13:20

YABU Hully, here in Italy our nurseries are not filled with paedophiles....

Now our churches.......

FranSanDisco · 26/05/2010 13:21

It's not about abuse but perspective. No-one condones abuse but not everyone is an abuser. Anyway Gay40 has left a bad taste so I'm off. C YA!

Francagoestohollywood · 26/05/2010 13:21

I thought this was a joke on a very common MN school of thought : nurseries as VERY dangerous places. I don't find this thread offensive.

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 26/05/2010 13:23

Gay40 has left a bad taste?

Bloody hell.

Hullygully · 26/05/2010 13:24

Exactly Franca.

Muddle, I don't know what you mean?

OP posts:
Gay40 · 26/05/2010 13:24

What a facking liberty!

ChickensNeedOpposableThumb · 26/05/2010 13:27

I've got PMT, want to fight?

Gay40 · 26/05/2010 13:27

Fran, your perspective is a bit out of whack imo

wannaBe · 26/05/2010 13:29

hully, there's no way you didn't know this thread would cause offence to some people.

And there's no way this wasn't a thread taking the piss out of the other thread - you might not have read it but you've been posting on the thread where reference was made to it.

And I can't help wondering, if this wasn't a reg poster starting this thread whether people would still be joining in the banter. I don't think so somehow.

This is not a thread about a thread. I haven't even read that other one about almost the same thing.

I'm obviously going mad then Hully because you've posted on that other thread.

Ah! I get it! You posted while keeping your eyes shut so as not to read it. Okaaaay

Sassybeast · 26/05/2010 13:29

Fransandisco - Gay40 has left a 'bad taste' ? How exactly ? By pointing out that this 'perspective' of which you speak would be very very different if it was 'your' child (generic you, not 'you' personally)who had been the victim of abuse at the hands of someone in aposition of trust, or you yourself had been the victim ? I 'heart' Hullys humour most of the time, but if anything has left a bad taste on this thread, it certainly isn't Gay40s post.

backtotalkaboutthis · 26/05/2010 13:29

actually i'm finding the outrage at people not getting your joke really, really funny

DeFluffy · 26/05/2010 13:30

Wannabe - exactly.

Gay40 · 26/05/2010 13:31

Well, at least someone saw my point (cheers Sassy x)
