To be shocked by the nasty bullying style of some of the threads on MN.

Having just read the thread about whether or not we should be ok about male nusery workers taking DDs to the toilet I have to say I am completely shocked at the aggressive, bullying comments that the poor OP received. FWIW I agree that we should not discriminate against males working in childcare but think that a lot of the battering comments were frankly out of order! As I read the thread I had that sick feeling that I recognised from my schooldays when I witnessed someone being bullied! I'm new to MN and have found a lot of the info and threads helpful but am so disappointed that, instead of finding a source that I had hoped would be non-judgemental and supportive, I have just connected myself to more of that cynical nastiness that I am so fed-up with on fb and in the media!

Aquiring a 'Fuck Off' is peanuts, anyone can get one of those
but I got a 'Fuck Of Cunt' and am aspiring to a 'Fuck off you cunting scouse cuntbubble'

thats how 'ard I am

Sorry swanandduck but nope. I wouldn't call that "bullying".

My son has been badly bullied recently, both in RL and in cyber space. And the ridcule, name calling and aggression was ongoing and constantly directed at him. I don't think this is the case if you get called a name or ridiculed once on a thread by random strangers.

There is a word for it, but it's not bullying.

RunawayWife · 26/05/2010 14:02

There have been a lot of threads lately along the line of yours, and yes as someone who has been here a long time (8 years) Mn has changed and there is a lot more nastiness and bullying then there used to be.
Also intelligent debate seems to have come down to name calling, with Jog on or Daily mail reader being banded about when someone has nothing intelligent to add, closely followed by bigot or racist as that makes the name calling person look all PC.

It has gotten worse since AIBU was introduced.
Some people on this board are just like some in real life, nasty little fuckwits however for the most part MN is a wealth of good advice, support and lovely people.
I have "met" some lovely people here, some I now know in RL, I have had support and advice and help from people and I have learned a lot here and changed my view of some things as MN has educated me in areas that I saw as black and white when in fact they were very complex.

If a thread or something on a thread or a poster has upset you, press hide and move on. But please remember mumsnet is just like real life and you are not going to agree with, like, respect or get on with everyone here.

LittleMrsHappy · 26/05/2010 14:12

only read the first page but you should know you aren't allowed to disagree with littlemisshappy...she'll have you DELETED and probably get all her pals to stand outside your house with placards demanding you get fired for erm daring to do so...
runs off boo-hoo'ing to the ladies that are in charge of mumsnet about someone not playing nicely

Firstly its Mrs and where have I said I will have you deleted?, where have I said I will get someone fired?, your quite frankly are too simplistic for me TSC!

But then you would, with your sweeping generalisation's that I was a liar and have "borderline Munchhausen's, thats why I got the thread deleted, by your pettiness and uncalled for highly rude and offensive post.!

My last post about this, you were very rude, ignorant and just plain pathetic to stoop so low in getting personal, in a shameful and nasty way!

Lizzylou · 26/05/2010 14:18

OKaaay, have not seen your previous thread LittleMrsHappy, but I have to say, based on this thread you seem to read people's tone very wrongly.
No-one was being rude/mocking you, you got the total wrong end of the stick.

Op, I agree that AIBU can turn into a bitchfest on occasions but it's not like that all the time.

Ooh, but I can't! I'm not nearly premenstrual enough to actually tell anyone to fuck off. Can I get back to you in about three weeks? A friend of mine is fond of lobbing 'cuntflaps' at people that annoy her. I might have to steal it.
