Fruit shoots are evil............

So I never buy the things, but yesterday all children were thirsty and I hadn't prepared by taking water. Anyway the shop I chose to go in ONLY had fruit shoots with a good lid thingy, no water, no juice, no milkshake....NO alternative.

Now my dcs didn't go crazy with the mythical sugar rush......but dc4 has just found one that he must have thrown under something and squeezed it all over my lounge carpet. EVIL EVIL THINGS!!!

tocata

I really truely think the sweetness makes them try and drink fruit shoot quicker than any liquid should be ingested. I'm still a crap Mum though, am more than happy to let him have the odd capri sun (he doesn't drink anything fizzy so I think what the hell).

Enter honeydragons theory that macdonalds make their milkshakes so thick because if you could drink them normally you would pass out in some kind of sugar chemical induced haze.

They are disgusting!! full of crap, would rather let the kid's go thirsty.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 25/05/2010 12:23

fruit shoots aren't evil, however the people who think they are are bonkers.

posieparker · 25/05/2010 12:24

What a stupid thing to say....it was the hottest days of the year and my dcs are 18mths to 8 years, you really think they should have gone thristy on a long walk home from school.

I was meaning the spill on my carpet, my dcs have MacDonalds!! Only three or four times a year, but 7 weeks in china is bloody hard to do without grabbing some vaguely chicken nuggets!!

lifeas3plus1 · 25/05/2010 12:28

I could never bring myself to give my children fruit shoots! Vile things. Luckily the only thing he likes and will drink gallons of is plain water. Lol

thesunshinesbrightly · 25/05/2010 12:28

Excuse me!

I meant I would rather let my kid's go thirsty, instead of letting them drink that crap.

It is my opinion if that's ok with you maybe i should ask your permission before posting.

toccatanfudge · 25/05/2010 12:32

you would rather let your childre become dehydrated than have a sugary drink? the mind boggles

EdgarAllenPoll · 25/05/2010 12:33

if they are really sugary, sugar makes you thirstier as it bonds to water...

I think you can be excused a maccy Ds in the PRC..funny the Chinese think of it as health food..(allegedly) aircon and total absence of animal parts on display...double win.

thesunshinesbrightly · 25/05/2010 12:35

toccatanfudge They a foul. My opinion.

But anyway on a hot day like yesterday, i would of picked them up prepared but hey nevermind.

TheCappster · 25/05/2010 12:36

I've spoken about this to my child's dietician

suffice to say he thought the Fruitshoots are Evil contigent were bonkers

toccatanfudge · 25/05/2010 12:38

well no-one is making YOU drink them

I went prepared on Sunday with 2 x 2lt bottles of prepared drinks.........they were finished much quicker than I expected and I had to buy extra drinks. So even going prepared doesn't always help.

Or were you wanting a medal for going prepared

posieparker · 25/05/2010 12:39

I am always prepared, I even have suntan lotion and waterproofs in my car. This was an usual occurrence. However, I have never been so wrapped up in my own ludicrous standards that I can't bend when I need to....4 dcs moaning loudly all the way home about being thirsty would have killed me or them.

posieparker · 25/05/2010 12:40

Besides this is about my carpet!!!

bamboobutton · 25/05/2010 12:40

ds has the frootshoots in coloured bottles sometimes, mainly when we go out for lunch as a treat, his fave is the red one and it doesn't taste too bad.

frootshoot H2o(i think its called, comes in clear bottles) otoh is SO sweet it made my salivary glands clench when i tried it!! even watered down it was soooooo sweet, uurgh.

toccatanfudge · 25/05/2010 12:42

your poor carpet...........I'm just glad I have wooden floors - chocoalte cake, sweets and fruit shoots much easier to clean up

thesunshinesbrightly · 25/05/2010 12:43

Think the heat is getting to you girl's.

God forbid, anyone have a opinion on this thread.

T'is funny tho.

toccatanfudge · 25/05/2010 12:46

yes the "fruit shoots are evil" people are funny

and what heat???? it's cloudy here today

Gracie123 · 25/05/2010 12:53

Rather than argue about the ingredients of a fruit shoot, could anyone help the OP out with how to get the damn thing out of her carpet?

I found this but it's based on real fruit juice, not sure how effective it would be on the E-number colouring variety...

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 25/05/2010 12:56

"But anyway on a hot day like yesterday, i would of picked them up prepared but hey nevermind."

Lol! could this be anymore passive/agressive and smug!

Loving the arguments ladies. Personally I think anything in moderation is fine. Frootshoots once in a while isn't going to turn your children into homicidal hyperactive animals.

Librashavinganotherbiscuit · 25/05/2010 12:57

"But anyway on a hot day like yesterday, i would of picked them up prepared but hey nevermind."
ROFL. Do you wear a Cath Kidston apron?

thesunshinesbrightly · 25/05/2010 12:59

Is it not hot where you are?

Maybe it's sunstroke then.

kamsmum · 25/05/2010 13:00

Have you tried Vanish on the carpet? I find it will get most things out with a bit of work.

About the Fruitshoots - !!!

Dancergirl · 25/05/2010 13:01

I think some people here need to chill out! Everything in moderation that's what I say. My children drink milk, pure fruit juice and water at home and the same if out and about. But they have the occasional fruit shoot...maybe only 3 or 4 times a year - it's not going to kill them is it...

To those who say never to fruit shoots - can I ask you - do YOU never eat or drink something a bit rubbish? Never, ever? Really?!
