It's up to the institutions to be welcoming to whoever comes to visit them too, isn't it? If someone came to visit my local place of worship I wouldn't mind at all if they wore something associated with another religion.

It is just a question of 'when in Rome......'
I wouldn't ask people to remove their shoes if they came into my house, I think it rude. However if someone asks me to remove my shoes before I go into their house I don't debate the subject-I just take off my shoes!
