Hully - stop sitting on the fence will you.

CheekyRedWineGirl · 10/05/2010 14:34

I have to say after been on many many mums forums in my 4 yrs of been a mum, this is the tamest i have been on. Apart from a site that i am a moderator on.

Netmums, Askamum, Bounty, Babycentre - they are ALL bitchy.

MN isnt bitchy at all, some people (me included) post absolute shite posts and expect lovey dovey replies.

Iv only been a member of MN since March but i love it, there are some really lovely people on this forum. But then again in one thread on AIBU you can be flaming someone, but then in another thread on Chat at the same time you could be having a laugh with that person.

I think it depends on the thread at hand why the OP feels this way?

Which thread is it?

ShadeofViolet · 10/05/2010 14:34

YABU.

thricenay · 10/05/2010 14:35

Put yer hammer down Dahling - I was just on a thread in Relationships. I highlighted a remark made by another poster. Apparently it was 'bad form' of me to do so and also 'nasty' but I was trying to make a considered point based on a good three months of lurking...

Bad day at black rock. Been here too long, all patience gone.

PURPLESWAN · 10/05/2010 14:35

Yes there are - which is why I am now an occasional visitor and namechanger (from being a regular in the past)

There are certain points of view you cannot express here as the majority, most vocal, wont agree - im sure plenty of quiet lurkers do but are too scared to say!

Its just a fact of life on MN, but no different to RL really just avoid the people you dont like and controversial topics (or avoid MN!)

PortBlackandRat · 10/05/2010 14:35

The only one i find very rude is the "Oh God not this again " replies. The OP is usually a newby and therefore an easy target.

I do genuinely think that some have been on here so long they think they have a right to tell others what they can and can't post and i don't think they even realise they are doing it it's so ingrained.

thread about thread

tsk

thricenay · 10/05/2010 14:39

think you have hit the old nail on the head there Portblack - I was put down as if by the head girl. I am not talking about 'bitchy' comments btw, just as I said overbearing opinions, people jumping in with the same stock response to complex relationship probs telling people to just leave and not be a doormat.

GetOrfMoiLand · 10/05/2010 14:40

I am waiting for that day when I reach mythical long standing member status and can then say 'oh piss off you morons' and everyone goes 'ooh helloo getorf'

Until then I will just be happy to be ignored 90% of the time

FluffyVacuity · 10/05/2010 14:41

Can I do a spot of 'nastiness' myself (although not intended to be mean?
Cheekyredwinegirl, please change your name, pretty please? I used to know a girl at work who always said 'Who's coming out for a cheeky drink tonight?' ALWAYS HAD TO BE 'CHEEKY' not just a norml drink but a cheeky one. For my mental health, please change it

I've said it before; you will NEVER understand Mumsnet or be able to gauge what kind of response you will get to a post you have made. Also, a lot of MNers follow the pack and will go with whatever the majority opinion is. I've seen it on a few threads. Still though. It's an internet forum and words on a screen. Everyone is entitled to their wrong opinions, even if they don't tally with mine!

GypsyMoth · 10/05/2010 14:44

the posts where poster says 'i've spent al long time lurking'....and?? as if that maker their point even more valued because of the considerable time spent 'lurking'....

Hullygully · 10/05/2010 14:44

GetOrf - Oh piss off you moron

cupcakesandbunting · 10/05/2010 14:45

Also, what MaryZ said. I like a good fight and I'll stick my dukes up at anyone

Dahling · 10/05/2010 14:45

Oh hello GetORf
you moron

thricenay · 10/05/2010 14:45

foureleven · 10/05/2010 14:47

YABU I love that on here you get an honest response rather than the asskissing lipservice you might get in real life

But Im probably one of the overbearing people you are talking about

FluffyVacuity · 10/05/2010 14:49

I'll love you forever Redwine

porcamiseria · 10/05/2010 14:49
