AIBU to expect both sets of grandparents to buy car seats to put in their car. I have a 3 yo and a 10 month old and am pregnant with third. Everytime they go anywhere I have to change them all over and one of them is dead heavy. They just stand there watching me struggle every bloody time. I told my mum she could buy one for £28 and she said that if I buy it she will have it in her car. And my DH dad is such a cock because he will carry it out of his car and place it in mine but not strap it in. Twice now i have driven with it like that not realising it isnt strapped in. The other day, DH parents picked my DD up from pre school and I forgot to leave the seat for them. They sent a message through my mum that I was "in trouble" for not leaving it there, why don`t they fucking buy one save me having to lug the thing about gggrrrrrrrrrrrr !!!! Am I being unreasonable????????

erm....yes.

they are your kids - you buythem

CristinaTheAstonishing · 07/05/2010 22:53

This is a wind up, right?

CMOTdibbler · 07/05/2010 22:54

YABU - you're very lucky that they take your children out at all.

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/05/2010 22:54

Yes, you are. Do they drive with your children in their car every day? No, I imagine not.

MaBella · 07/05/2010 22:54

YABU!!!!! and very aggressive!!!

scurryfunge · 07/05/2010 22:54

YABU - your children, you ensure their safety

thinker · 07/05/2010 22:55

No I take it I am being a tit?

nigglewiggle · 07/05/2010 22:55

If you want to avoid the hassle and they are cheap - you buy them!

sundew · 07/05/2010 22:55

I agree with custardo and cristina - your kids if the granparents re being a pain buy the car seats yourself

thinker · 07/05/2010 22:56

Oh I am way out aren`t I ?

kitkatsforbreakfast · 07/05/2010 22:56

Yup. You're a tit!

MaBella · 07/05/2010 22:57

sorry but yes you are being a tit!!

nigglewiggle · 07/05/2010 22:57

Yep

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/05/2010 22:57

Yup, you are being a tit. No harm done though hey.

You can't really expect them to buy a car seat for your children who are rarely in their car though can you? What are they supposto do with them when your children are not in their car?

Eglu · 07/05/2010 22:57

They are happy to have a seat so buy them for their cars. You are lucky they are willing to store seats tbh.

MaBella · 07/05/2010 22:58

Look, you're pregnant and already have 2 little 'uns, you're probably knackered too! We're all allowed an unreasonable rant when pregnant

woosam · 07/05/2010 22:59

You're not for real, are you?

If so YABVU. They're your kids therefore the onus is on you to buy the car seat and pass it over to them if you want to save the hassle.

Also cannot believe that you're annoyed at them because you forgot to change it over for them.

thinker · 07/05/2010 22:59

Good job I checked before i started gobbing off. I`m worried now about all the other things I am a tit about.

OP posts:
Vallhala · 07/05/2010 22:59

Afraid so!

Perhaps Dad doesn't strap the seat in for fear of not doing it properly when transferring it into a car other than his own?

scurryfunge · 07/05/2010 22:59

Yes...I think you are.....if you expect people to transport your children, it is a little unrealistic to expect them to buy fairly expensive equipment. It's not really that hard to swap car seats each time...though you probably realise this

belledechocolatefluffybunny · 07/05/2010 23:01

I'm not pregnant. I need no excuse to be unreasonable

snala · 07/05/2010 23:01

YABU.

If you want them to have seats YOU buy them.

If you know that DHs parents don't have a seat then surely you would make it a prority to leave one at pre school?

Out of interest how did they collect DD from pre school without one?

scurryfunge · 07/05/2010 23:01

We can all be tits when it comes to our children....relax

Sorry but it's you with the issue so you buy them and resolve your own issues. Or train them one day when you are not dashing around on how to put in car seat properly.

It won't solve things if they do buy them cos' they aren't going to keep 2 seats soon to be 3 seats in their cars 24/7. And if they can't fix your seats in properly what makes you think they'll fix the ones they have bought in correct each time?

Anyway the 3 yr old will soon be onto a booster seat type affair. Much easier.
