Like most people my dd and ds share a room we have a two bed, they love sharing but we will when they are older have to divide the room and get by, as we simply can not afford to buy a 3 bed house.

I am very grateful for what we have and in a way it could be worse I get on with my life but do get angry with myself and wish I had planned my future better finacially, and gone into a decent career after I left school ,aibu.

OP posts:

er i'm sorry? i'm being a total bitch??

hello do you actually understand mumsnet at all? lol

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 22:50

And all this crap about, 'Well, in the 1970s, we lived 9 of us to a one-room shack with an outdoor toilet' do you really think that was a good thing? Wanna go back to that, or is it just okay as long as it's not you?

southeastastra · 29/04/2010 22:50

expat - er wtf?!

IAteABetaDadsBreadstick · 29/04/2010 22:51

Nah, have only been here 5+ years, so please teach me And 'lol' God are you, like, 12??

It's AIBU, no need to imply she can't afford a house because she mixed up except with accept. Totally bitchy.

southeastastra · 29/04/2010 22:52

expat i thought you were from texas certainly not some poor old bugger from chaville uk

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 22:52

K, you're right, Quattro, read the whole thread.

Sorry to bring my own mess into it.

My days are numbered here and it's annoying, but that is life and well, could be a helluva lot worse.

I made some serious mistakes, OP.

I'm near 40 and I didn't stop making those mistakes till I was about 31 years old so there's a lot of catching up to do.

Well, I work seasonal as of 1 June and swap out with DH.

We want to pay off all our debts. Not to buy a place but just to not be bowing to Da Man and be able to be free.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 22:54

Yes, I'm from Texas, south. From Houston, not chaville. So damn, now I'm some sort of chav?

AnyFucker · 29/04/2010 22:54

it's gotta be the full moon

normally sensible people are being seriously weird tonight

usualsuspect · 29/04/2010 22:55

IAteABetaDadsBreadstick is very vocal tonight ..who is he

IAteABetaDadsBreadstick · 29/04/2010 22:56

And 'chaville' , I've seen you around loads Sea, I'm sure you're normlly normal, has someone hacked your account??

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 22:56

I wish I'd have planned it better, too, OP, but if you've bought a place at least you're sort of there better than crying about your Mama's house and hearing from your third-party cousin that your Mama's been crying after you because your own Mama and Papa would never admit to it.

Quattrocento · 29/04/2010 22:57

yy, sorry missed the OP's second post

Expat, how is baby? Toddling now?

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 22:58

I know what you mean, though, Happy.

I wish a lot of things had been different in my life.

Every single day.

I wish I could win a big jackpot and make things different for some ordinary folks I know on here.

It's one of the first things I'd do.

CoinOperatedGirl · 29/04/2010 22:58

YANBU even with both Dp and I working flat out and full-time, we could not afford to buy a house, in this area at least. We are in the lucky position of having a council house atm, tbh we would have no incentive to buy even if we could, although I realise that if we were renting in the private sector life would be a good deal harder.

As long as the council house rules are as they are/or private renting becomes more economically viable and fair, I don't actually care that I don't own my own home. As long as I have somewhere to live, it's just not important to me. No way on earth would I cripple myself financially to take on a huge mortgage, seems insane.

AnyFucker · 29/04/2010 22:58

< contemplates cup of tea >

< considers getting into the whisky >

southeastastra · 29/04/2010 22:59

sorry expat but you can't suddenly start posting on here, pleading povety and yet boasting about wearing chanel..

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 23:00

Oh, Quattro! 'Wee man' is 18 months this week. He's running and climbing everything. He's 'talking' away, has a few words. He has blond hair and big hazel eyes and a smile as big as Texas.

He was hell on the trip over and worse on the way back but was worth it! Papa's not well anymore, so we'll be back next year.

But we're skipping Amsterdam and going straight from Glasgow to Newark, then spending the night on the way back. On the way over, well, gotta get to Houston!

Might consider spending the whole summer there, but it would mean DH would only be there 2 weeks out of 6 so we'll see.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 23:01

Chanel lipstick, south, so don't even go there!

£16 for a lipstick and I bought it with money BIL gave me for my birthday, but keep going. You just keep going there, I've got dire insomnia since we've been back.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 23:02

I'm a fast typist, too. Enough to make a living at it.

Used to be Quattro's secretary. LOL.

expatinscotland · 29/04/2010 23:03

Just go for the whisky, Any, you're so offensive, dear.

MillyR · 29/04/2010 23:04

OP, we live in a tiny two bed house, and we converted the loft for DS. Could you do that? I used to hate the house when mine were little, and was always planning ways to move into some bigger house. Now I'm just glad that we have a tiny mortgage and I have kind of grown to love the house. If you can split the children's bedroom, then you can create a 3 bedroom house, so I would just stop worrying and feeling like you've made a mistake, because you really haven't.

AnyFucker · 29/04/2010 23:04

I don't actually drink whisky

Perhaps I should start

IAteABetaDadsBreadstick · 29/04/2010 23:05

Usual- I am in an expansive mood this evening And not a man, obviously, otherwise ABetaDad would have been most disconcerted!!

Sea - [narrows eyes] please tell me someone hs hacked your account... pretty please...

AnyFucker · 29/04/2010 23:05

hang on, I have the odd Irish Coffee

< wipes dust off coffee-maker >

southeastastra · 29/04/2010 23:05
