To think that Nick Griffin is misunderstood and actually a nice chap?

I heard him being interviewed this morning on the Today programme.

Firstly, it turns out he's not racist or against immigration! Apparently, he says it's ok for French people to come here (there's not that many that want to so its ok). AND he says that Irish people can come here too because they're really all British! So that's nice. I was a bit confused because I thought they'd spent all those years bombing us because they didn't want to be British but I guess I've got that all wrong.

He's not going to let Algerian asylum seekers come though, but I don't think it matters because they'll just get killed where they are in their own country so that won't be a problem for them much longer.

And the best thing is... he's going to give £50,000 to anyone who's not "pure British" to leave the country and go back to where they came from! How cool is that! So I'm now deciding whether to go back to my Great-Grandmother's origins in Russia, or my Great Grandfather's in Finland. Now, apparently this money is going to come from what he called stupid anti-Climate Change projects so although much of Russia and pretty much all of Finland is a bit chilly, as the climate changes because they money is being spent on me, they'll get warmer and I'll be all toasty!

Brilliant!

I am sure nick g is both xenophobic and racist.

the pure british thing is nonsense - we are all a right mishmash in the UK.

i think some cornish people are a specific race? maybe?

ImSoNotTelling · 29/04/2010 13:32

maybe he wants to get rid of everyone except the cornish?

ImSoNotTelling · 29/04/2010 13:33

can I say that about nick g or will MN get sued???

ImSoNotTelling · 29/04/2010 13:36

nick g would say yes to the cornish

but no to everyone else

as far as i can see

but then
i think he said you had to be able to trace back 100 generations with everyone being british?
so even a lot of the cornish might be stuffed.

Ivykaty44 · 29/04/2010 13:40

tbh I think his veiws are really facist and slightly dangerous in his thinking. There have been others in history that were facist and tryed this lock the doors blame the foreeners and lets get them out

FessaEst · 29/04/2010 13:41

You can upload and compare your (probably identical from the looks of it) BNP leaflets here. How funny that they have their "member of the public" quotes next to photos of different people on different leaflets!

NoahAndTheWhale · 29/04/2010 13:41

DH could go to Cornwall I think.

I could have a bit of me going to Wales.

We haven't had anything from the BNP here.

BecauseImWorthIt · 29/04/2010 13:42

I think it could be a case of 'last one out, turn the lights off'

Bumbleconfusus · 29/04/2010 13:48

Ivykatty44 - Poles are definitely not all brown... I'd love someone to explain where all the blue eyes and blonde hair came from in my brother if that was true...
ChazsBarmyArmy - I think he would be required to 'hand in' his citizenship for the cash.

ImSoNotTelling · 29/04/2010 13:49

has he actually ever responded to question this policy raises about

there are sod all people who are "british" by his definition, there would be no-one left

would he force repatriation of brits abroad

would he split up families

etc etc

i mean it's nonsense isn't it, surely even the most racist loon can see it wouldn't work?

daisyj · 29/04/2010 13:55

D'you reckon you get 50k for each country? That's 100k for me, 50k for dh, and, errm, I guess that's £150k for dd, then. Sorted.

As for the distinction between xenophobia and racism - I think just bigoted will do (well if Gordon can...)

The man is SUCH a tosser. And thick, to boot. (NG that is, not GB)

weblette · 29/04/2010 13:56

Decisions, decisions... I guess £50,000 would go far further in Lithuania than Ireland...

BTW StrictlyKatty did you read the OP's comment at 12.57?

Ivykaty44 · 29/04/2010 13:56

compared to my skin, i wasn't trying to offend anyone, I adore all and would havea husband that care regardless of skin or hair colour

ImSoNotTelling · 29/04/2010 13:57

Oh just looked it up, it's voluntary

righto

why give piles of taxpayer money to people who would be looking to leave anyway?

he reckons up to 180,000 people a year would take this?

I assume that if they got in, there would be lots of "encouragement" for people to take it up....

And if someone is here from europe, say studying, as they have automatic right to stay if they want, is he really giong to dish out £50K a pop when they go home (as they would have done for free anyway)

am I thinking too much about this?

let's be honest

he means darkies

wanker.

ChazsBarmyArmy · 29/04/2010 13:58

Bumble - here's the cunning bit. I am british (probably even by NG definition) so when DH and I remarry he can reclaim his citizenship through marriage. Then we claim another £50k etc. for DH to go back again...

ImSoNotTelling · 29/04/2010 13:59

They wouldn't let him in chaz, even if you got married

they want to close the borders, all those rules would be out the window

ChickensNeedOpposableThumb · 29/04/2010 14:03

So, would the BNP also stop British citizens emigrating? You know, to ensure that Britain keeps British (or something)?

Bumbleconfusus · 29/04/2010 14:06

exactly, and if they move out from the eu, they don't have to let the europeans in... really the 50k is only for those with citizenship, as everyone else would require a visa at that point, and they would just reject the applications because we'd not be in the union, and wouldn't care about keeping up with human rights as we wouldn't want to get back into the union anyways... so wouldn't care about splitting families etc and the snowball would gradually gain pace into an avalanche

Bumbleconfusus · 29/04/2010 14:07

why did my italics not work???????

Jamieandhismagictorch · 29/04/2010 14:08

Bumble - you have to put the ^ round every word

StrictlyKatty · 29/04/2010 14:08

Doesn't the BNP describe 'indigenous' as those here before the 1940's?

Sadly my Dad has done my family tree back 12 generations I think and has found not one single none British born person so I have no where to go and no way of getting a free £50000 I wonder if I can forge a Grandmother born in Mauritius...

seriously never bothering with that again....
so second generation is counted as British?

StrictlyKatty · 29/04/2010 14:13

I think it can be assumed that to be British you must be white and have ancestors here before 1940.

I think a French/German GP they would accept but I can't imagine they would agree if the GP was Nigerian etc.

booyhoo · 29/04/2010 14:15

i had forgotten i spent all those years bombing you OP.

what a stupid thing to say. stick to the facts.
