To sew a little willy on the doll I'm making for my son?

frekkles · 25/04/2010 21:07

I'm making a first birthday present for my son. It's a cloth version of him, newborn size, like the one's on this site kids.nunodoll.com/lifesize/babe07.html

I'm putting in lots of detail, so it has fingers and ears and belly button and toes. I know he'll be fascinated by all the features. He sits and examines things like this for ages.

What I'm not sure about though is whether it should have a litle willy though? In some respects I feel odd leaving it off, it's a glaring ommission in my eyes. My son doesn't know his willy is any different to any other part of his body.

Makes me question why dolls don't have little willies and fannies. What are we subtly teaching are young uns by silently ommiting them ? I remember being a tad curious and freaked out by the sexless dolls I had as a child. Was it the beginning of a sense of shame in your body?

In other respects though I can't bring myself to sew one on. Feel like I'd be making some kind of mini sex doll. And that people that saw his doll would be weirded out, embarassed and think I was an oddball.

what does the mumsnet jury think?

Oh, the Wright Stuff is pathetic. As BitterAndTwisted points out, it's not the MN references per se, but the fact they rely on it so heavily while being so effing rude. OP, ignore!

Can't wait to see a photo of the doll although I guess you might be more hesitant about posting one now

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/04/2010 10:43

I'm not really sure what you mean.

I think he secretly wants to be an MNer.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/04/2010 10:43

yy to pics of the doll.

Trikken · 27/04/2010 10:45

Matthews researchers are really lazy! You are right BATCD He does slag off MN whilst nicking all the topics. grr Matthew!!

frekkles · 27/04/2010 10:48

hahahhahaha

now i've watched it I actually think it's completely hilarious and my minor offence has faded into giggles. The good old menacing internet. Here I am sitting quietly sewing a willy on a little doll, minding my own business and I get slagged off by the telly! hilarious!

Glad to see everyone said yes to willy though. The campaign continues, gathering strength!

hello wright show people! Have a nice day you bunch of dafties.

anyway better go and find something better to do before the baby wakes up...

Matthew Wright, for example, is a twat.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/04/2010 10:52

I'm glad you are not offended, frekkles.

I am tempted to start a sweepstake to see what tomorrow's wright stuff will be featuring.

saslou · 27/04/2010 10:52

I think we have to remember that Matthew Wright is a former tabloid journalist. No point expecting good manners from him and of course he will take the lazy route of using topics from MN.

saslou · 27/04/2010 10:56

Sorry OP - meant to say that yes, I think you should make a willy for the doll. When I was a child my parents bought me a doll when we were on holiday in Italy and I was reall pleased when I took its nappy off and discovered it was a boy. I actually felt like I had a real baby of my own (I was about 5)!

GoldenSnitch · 27/04/2010 11:01

What sort of childhood must that man have had that he can be so smug and impressed with himself while at the same time hating parents so much!?!

I actually feel quite sorry for him.

He even hates the parents who aren't "child obsessed" as they create the ASBO teens that he also loves to vent about.

Personally, I'd rather be a child obsessed harridan with a happy, secure and contented child than a bitter, lonely, self obsessed TV presenter.

I think you're doing a wonderful thing frekkles and I'm sure, willy or not, your son is going to love his dolly.

I used to like the Wright stuff but I won't be watching anymore. I can read all of this more interesting topics on here anyway

frekkles · 27/04/2010 14:12

The wright show must have really low ratings!

weblette · 27/04/2010 14:40

Maybe it touched a nerve as he has a teeny tiny doll-sized penis himself?

Frekkles, the doll sounds brilliant - it's something he'll treasure.

DorotheaPlenticlew · 27/04/2010 14:48

I wonder if we should all start composing haikus about MW's penis size, in tried-and-tested MN style.

Disenchanted3 · 27/04/2010 15:20

My haiku,

Matthew wrights penis
Oh so small, dissapointing
Sew a new one dear.

weblette · 27/04/2010 16:27

Excellent

missmoopy · 27/04/2010 16:37

Yep, the doll needs a willy!

fabhead · 27/04/2010 16:39

You do have to wonder why he is so anti parenthood though for an, apparently, heterosexual man. It is quite unusual. I like the Wright Stuff too but the whole, nick something off MN, present it out of context for laughs, thing is getting a bit old and lazy. I think he (or his researchers, lets face it, risk alienating quite a large chunk of his viewership) - educated women at home in the mornings who aren't watching Jeremy Kyle.

It did annoy me a bit when he said we were lazy, nothing better to do etc - I work FT, from home part of the week and i tend to watch a bit of Wright Stuff while I am firing up the PC, replying to emails etc before turning the TV off and getting stuck into work. I might not bother anymore.

I think he had a run in with MNHQ and I agree to a certain extent with his objection to the, let's get involved in politics, let's make some money PR offensive coming from there - but that's not the same as the whole MN membership in it's entirety.

missmoopy · 27/04/2010 16:45

Matthew Wright is a right wing idiot.

GoldenSnitch · 27/04/2010 18:19

He pinched the 'tights on boys' thread a while ago, found one comment where someone had sarcastically said it would make the child gay and made out like we all genuinely thought it!! His talk topic was how could we all think that - never mind the other 99.9% of the thread where people thought it was a great way of keeping little boys legs warm in the winter!

Twat

Morloth · 27/04/2010 18:25

He just has penis envy obviously.

NotanOtter · 27/04/2010 18:33

delighted to say i have neither seen nor heard of the man

frekkles · 27/04/2010 18:49

i just find it hilarious really!

i kinda want to tell folk how bizarre and funny it was that I got insulted on channel 5 today, but then I don't either as I like my anonmynity on this website. and also i feel a bit daft.

Although anyone who knows me that reads mumsnet will know it's me because I've been banging on about this little boy doll for weeks now.

i have a photo now, but don't know where to post it. And if i do post it , it won't end up in the daily mail will it?

ps -My little boy wears tights too.

Post it on your profile.

Thediaryofanobody · 27/04/2010 20:58

Come on frekkles show us your willy.

Seriously I'd like to do something similar for my DS but I have no idea how to make a willy.

Grumpla · 27/04/2010 21:10

Oh my god. That doll is my son. In doll form.
That's actually kind of creepy.

I vote for a willy!
