People would get over flying and just get boats and trains instead

nonono!

We have saved up for 4 years for our holiday in July, its all im looking forward to.

The blue skies are absolutely glorious tho yes

minipie · 16/04/2010 18:16

YANBU

I would like the skies to be plane free all the time. Except when I want to go on holiday

More seriously, apparently 1 in 3 people who flies into Heathrow is only in transit not even coming to the UK. And quite a lot of planes are only half full as well. That is just madness.

belgo · 16/04/2010 18:16

YABU. Planes are a wonderful invention!

Marne · 16/04/2010 18:17

Think how good the past 2 days have been for the environment .

I do like planes though (watching them, not going on them).

JodieO · 16/04/2010 18:17

YANBU I hate planes and flying.

staranise · 16/04/2010 18:18

YANBU

We live in SW London and are not missing the three-planes-a-minute-constant-drone at all.

Feel sorry for the people missing their holidays or stuck in the airports though.

Alouiseg · 16/04/2010 18:18

YABU!

However I am sooo enjoyng vapour trail free skies and the eerie quietness, I don't even notice plane noise normally but I really notice that it's gone.

said · 16/04/2010 18:19

YANBU. I live under a flightpath. Peace is very strange

LetThereBeRock · 16/04/2010 18:19

YABU.

TheChangeSpiral · 16/04/2010 18:24

I went to Vietnam this year without flying so no-one needs to get planes to go to exotic places ... surely it's just about priorities?

MumInBeds · 16/04/2010 18:24

It's wonderful, I'm not sure my town would cope without the airport but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

Blu · 16/04/2010 18:27

I did think today would have been a brilliant day to visit Kew gardens of Richmond Park in unusual tranquility.

scaryteacher · 16/04/2010 18:28

Brussels is strangely quiet today as well...

LetThereBeRock · 16/04/2010 18:29

And how long did it take to get to Vietnam?

Portofino · 16/04/2010 18:29

YANBU. I live 10 mins from Brussels airport though not under the flight path. I hadn't realised how much I DO notice them. Peace and quiet and birdsong this morning.

MrsC2010 · 16/04/2010 18:32

Only if my husband can come home first.

hocuspontas · 16/04/2010 18:33

I haven't had to turn the TV up once today! French doors been open as well

RunawayWife · 16/04/2010 18:34

YABU

I live near Heathrow though and it is very odd not to see planes

oldraver · 16/04/2010 18:35

Even the RAF are quiet today. I've certainly no heard any planes at all

amidaiwish · 16/04/2010 18:35

it is gorgeously quiet - we live on a main road in SWLondon and i always thought the low level noise was background traffic. it must be the planes, it is SO quiet (unless that is all the locals are stuck on their swanky easter breaks )

but pity the people who are missing loved one's weddings this weekend, plus my sister is desperate for her holiday and she flies to Italy on sunday.

so... planes should be reserved ONLY for lovely holidays or lovely events and should be restricted to 2x year each!

iheartdusty · 16/04/2010 18:37

yes, please say how you got to Vietnam and how long it took? (That is, if you started at UK..if you live in Bangkok, then we can probably guess!)

LetThereBeRock · 16/04/2010 18:37

I live under a flightpath too and I rather like sitting outside and watching planes. I'm not quite so fond of the ones that sound as though they're about to land on my roof however.

singsinthebath · 16/04/2010 18:37

balloons are still flying

LetThereBeRock · 16/04/2010 18:38

I'll be pleased to have them back. I like planes and I like flying.

fruitshootsandheaves · 16/04/2010 18:39

I think it's great, however with no planes my dh would have no job and we would have no money so I can't agree with the forever bit!
