To think that freebleeding is a bit [envy]

I have just heard of freebleeding on here whereby no sanitary protection is used . I admit that i am open to most things but this The practicalities of it must be enormous you would never leave home. I know that it would not be for me as my periods are quite heavy, even with big sanitary pads I manage to leak over my trousers, on my legs. Once when i was out i leaked through my jeans, as i got off the bus i realised must have been on the seat aswell, imagine no sanitary protection.

How does someone manage outside the house where there is limited washing facilities, must be really uncomfortable and and messy. I will probably get flamed for my views but i am prepared and armed with my hard hat. I would try reusuable sanitary protection for later on in my period but no protection

Meh. Seems odd to rebrand something that many women have done for millennia, either intentionally or unintentionally. If that's what 'freebleeding' is, then I've done it at night often - and yes, lying on your side is better than on your back. I use a Mooncup but I know my flow well enough to know when I can get away with not using it, and if I don't have to, I'd prefer not to use anything.

policywonk · 06/04/2010 21:58

mystic no, you're not the only one who had to give up with the Mooncup. Mine leaks like buggery. I don't know why (I've tried various 'twist and release'-type methods advocated on here). Tis v frustrating.

CheerfulYank · 07/04/2010 02:36

Um, also, am I the only one left in the world who doesn't have a Brazilian? Because...you know. The combo of a non-Brazilian plus freebling (and that's what I'm calling it 'cause it's funnier) equals ICK in my book.

I think tampons are one invention I'm thrilled to use, thankyaverymuch.

nooka · 07/04/2010 06:00

My periods usually last about seven days and are very unpredictable, they can go from very light to flooding within hours. I don't use tampons (very uncomfortable) and find even with changing pads regularly I get really quite sore by the end of my period. Surely that alone would be enough of a reason not to let your blood go everywhere? It's horribly sticky stuff - I can just imagine my clothes sticky to me and - in fact I really don't want to imagine it! I'm very envious of all those who have very light short periods (and I don't think that I do have particularly heavy periods). I'd really like for research to come up with a way of getting rid of periods completely. I find the idea of celebrating something that makes you feel crap really quite bizarre.

ant3nna · 07/04/2010 19:43

Now I've thought about it, I realise that I do actually freebleed. My period last 8 days and the last few of them I tend to be spotting. Its not really worth using anything so I tend to go for the dark pants method. Sometimes I don't even bother doing that so I have lots of stained pants. I live alone at the moment so it doesn't really bother me.

It has just occurred to me that in a few months I shall be living with in laws and my stained pants will be on the washing line for all the family to see. Perhaps I ought to buy some more pants and stop being so lazy.

Policywonk I have learned today that I have a tilted womb (retroverted uterus), so am now wondering whther that's why the mooncup didn't work for me... was too ashamed to tell the very scary consultant about mooncup usage in case he thought i was a freebleeder

RunawayWife · 08/04/2010 20:17

I free bleed, its called being too skint to but sanitary goods! It really isnt a big deal you just need to go to the loo more often to wipe! Get a grip girls, its only a period theres nothing yuk yuk yuk about it! Have you lot not heard of washing?

0urKid · 10/09/2016 02:55

You searched Free-Bleeding didn't you? :o

Do what you want with your fanny.

MindSweeper · 10/09/2016 03:00

At home, do want you want.

In public no sort yourself out and don't let your bodily fluids get everywhere

Like this: just stop

ohdearme1958 · 10/09/2016 03:11

By they way, I'm impressed by how many people on this thread have read The Red Tent - that's about 3 of us so far

Also me and my daughters.

VforVienetta · 10/09/2016 03:17

Lissi if you can get away with 'just going to the loo to wipe more often' then yay for you, but it's a bit much to assume the rest of us can. I flood frequently for the first few days of my cycle, every time I stand up, if I roll over at night, and quite often my uterus goes 'wahey thought I'd give you an extra surprise one just for kicks'.
Having used a Mooncup a few years back (so knowing how much I actually lost), I know I'm on the heavier side of things, but not that bad, so there's a lot of women who have a worse time of it than me.
It puzzles me that we're taught so little about our bodies that we don't realise how different we all are.
No need to hand out grips.

MindSweeper · 10/09/2016 03:30

My freebleeding got turned into a classic film

To think that freebleeding is a bit [envy]
Bogeyface · 10/09/2016 03:49

I can only assume that anyone who freebleeds either has a very light flow or a pelvic floor like a bulldog clip. I am envious of both.

WatcherOfTheNight · 10/09/2016 03:51

=====ZOMBIE THREAD====

Bogeyface · 10/09/2016 03:53

V mine does that too! Lulls me into a false sense of security, thinking I am about done and then.....BAM! In the queue at Aldi I get nice reminder of the joys of being a woman, have to do the crab walk to the car and am late picking the kids up because I have had to go home and change.

Freebleeding my arse.

Bogeyface · 10/09/2016 03:56

ah....possibly saying "freebleeding my arse" is not the best thing to say when the pervs are on the loose! Still, an interesting topic to discuss.

WatcherOfTheNight · 10/09/2016 03:57

This thread is 6 YEARS OLD!

Nutfreepeanutter · 10/09/2016 03:57

I actually stumbled apon this ages ago, looking into mooncup's since i could re-enact Carrie single handed.
Apparently (absolutely not trying it ever) you can train your muscles into only releasing when you want them to.. Like weeing. So you'd effectively end up just going to the loo more often than you do. Obviously that must take a long time of messing around figuring it out but in the long run (perhaps if you've really got time for a lot of vanish oxy action ads) you'd be waste free, never need to worry about af arriving when you aren't at home/prepared, no tss risks and never having to change a bloody cup in a public loo.

There are the exceptionally odd ones who just want to make a mess of everything they own. And I've got three female dogs and none of them make much mess at all when they had heats, usually fairly clean besides where they sleep obviously because they can't clean themselves while sleeping though.

WatcherOfTheNight · 10/09/2016 03:58

Re started by a possible troll also !

MindSweeper · 10/09/2016 04:05

Oh for gods sake MNHQ why on earth has my post been removed?

It was a GIF from The Shining fgs.

Who's on the reporting spree then?

MindSweeper · 10/09/2016 04:06

Actually both of them Hmm one was just a woman with a bit of blood between her legs, clutching a skateboard.

WatcherOfTheNight · 10/09/2016 04:13

Mindsweeper Your post hasn't been deleted, its been hidden until HQ can take a look at it in the morning.

Due to the fact that this is a zombie thread & is most likely resurrected by a PBP nightwatch have had to be more cautious recently.
