To think hosting a sleepover for four 9yo girls can't be that bad?

I've never done the sleepover thing before.

Everyone I mention it to raises their eyes to heaven and says nothing and just sort of looks at me.

It can't be that awful.

No its not. Just put them far away from you (if you can) so you don't have to listen to them sniggering at four am.

Plus hide the shit food.

Did this last week - it was fine. Just be prepared to do a major spring clean of the bedroom the next day - oh, and get the parents to collect them EARLY as they will have been up since 6am and will be tired and grumpy!

But catchy, I have bought mountains of shit food.

I thought I'd just sort of throw the mountain of shit food into the room, shut the door and leave them to it.

What could possibly go wrong?

also make sure your other half does not go to the loo in the night sans pyjama's. I remmeber seeing my best friend's dad's winkle at about age 9 in this situation - it took me a long time to recover!

DP is terrified of something like that happening.

I refuse to take on more than 2 extra at a time. My parenting skills won't take more than that!

And they will go to sleep at THREE AM

Don't plan to do anything the day after, as you will all be knackered and feel like cr*p.
I had 5 9&10 year old girls for dd's birthday. Oh, it was awful.

Mine have both been invited to a sleepover tonight..
So we have a whole night without DCs.
What shall we do?
No doubt we'll pay tomorrow when two sleep deprived children are grizzling and fighting.

Pizza, bottle of vino, fall asleep on couch at about 9.30. Much better than going out!

If you are happy for them to stay awake all night, then there's no problem. If you want to get them to sleep at some point, you'll need a plan

Do they get better or worse after age 6? If its worse your in for a shock.

Seriously I think it depends upon the personality of your child and the guest child(ren). Dd1 plus friend's dd - angels. Dd1 plus cousin - angels. Dd1 plus other cousin - complete nightmare never to be repeated, ever, ever again. EVER.

Dd1 plus best friend - you have got to be kidding. I can't even cope well with that pairing for a playdate.

Dd1 and her other cousin were up untill 4:30am. And by up I mean constantly up and down the stairs, requesting drinks, the loo, midnight snacks etc, no matter how many times they were told "No, it's time to go to sleep now"

We've had a couple of sleepovers, boys and girls, although only one or two at a time. They've been fine - but the dcs are absolutely shattered and vile the next day.

I rather like hearing all the conspiritorial whisperings and gigglings tbh - but that's probably because ds is an only so I don't get to hear it often.

catchymonkey - I never quite recovered from seeing an enormous naked hippy in my friend's sitting room post-sleepover once.

My daughter had a sleepover for a b/day party & it was the easiest we ever did.

It was a school night so they slept about midnight & up about 6.

We started a trend!

We have a 3 storey house and we have arule that DH never goes onto the top storey where the girls are.Important to protect himself.
