OP posts:
harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 08:26

I like him

southeastastra · 15/03/2010 08:27

have you just realised this?

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 08:32

He did go to Heatherdown, Eton and Oxford...

It's easy to miss

I still like him. Got to be better than the idiots politicians we have now.

And, yes, that's Heatherdown that Princes Andrew and Edward went to.

They are reasonable posh too!

slightlystressed · 15/03/2010 08:45

I dislike him intensly. It's not really anything to do with him being posh and going to posh schools, I think politicians should be well educated.

I don't trust him, I don't think he cares about anyone who hasn't got a few million in the bank, I think he's smug, I don't think he has a clue how most people live in this country, I don't like the married tax allowance idea, I don't like this "Broken Britain" horseshit, and I don't like his face.

clam · 15/03/2010 08:47

Is it a crime to be "posh?"
Would it be acceptable to refer to someone else in the public eye/politics as common or chavvy?
Annoys me, all this smearing of people on irrelevancies.

Why blame him for where his parents sent him to school? As for Oxford, people I know went there and to Cambridge - makes them smart, not toffs. My fil has a double first from Cambridge - he went from a grammar.

Rollmops · 15/03/2010 08:48

Ah, he's just yer average toffist. However, we likesh him and we shall cast our vote for him.
[fans graciously]

Speaking of toff, the Über-Idiot mr.Balls is toffist himself dontyouknow..... Now he's a disgrace to human kind and should be detached from his office asap and sent to, well, far far far away.

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 08:50

I'm planning on voting for him.

Better than the horseshit the chaps in power are spouting.

slightlystressed - do you really think that most people have millions stashed in the bank?

Really? Where are they?

Erm no I dont think most people have millions in the bank, I said I think he only cares about people who do, and that he doesnt have a clue about the rest of us.

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 08:59

And why do you think labour wouldn't cut those services?

And how do you think those services will be paid?

It's a real and serious issue that lots of high earners will go Ex pat / non dom to get around the stupid amounts of tax being proposed by labour. It will not work in practice.

So, if Labour win, they too will break a lot of promises.

See, the fact is, half the country can't claim benefits and expect around 5% of the population to PAY those taxes. It ain't gonna work.

Sorry.

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 09:00

ANd Slightlystressed - what % of the population do you think have millions in the bank?

slightlystressed · 15/03/2010 09:02

harimosmummy see my last post. WHen did I say I thought most people had millions in the bank????

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 09:04

No., I'm asking what % you think DO have that sort of money?

I think we're agreed it's less than 50%

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 09:05

And I'd like to ask you why you think a politician could / would base a strategy that only looked after 5% (or less) of the population.

Because that, in effect, is what you are saying.

slightlystressed · 15/03/2010 09:07

I have no idea, but Daveybabes probably does.

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 09:09

Right, so you basically have no idea what you are talking about.

Vote Labour. They are the party for you.

harimosmummy · 15/03/2010 09:10

ANd, yes, Daveybabes probably does know.

Possibly why he'd be a good leader.

slightlystressed · 15/03/2010 09:11

His strategy might not be based on that, but I don't believe he cares about the ordinary folk, maybe I'm wrong but I just do not trust him at all.

slightlystressed · 15/03/2010 09:12

You're really quite rude aren't you.

Glitterknickaz · 15/03/2010 09:13

What Riven said.
Having disabled DCs DOES impact on your ability to earn.
We'll be screwed if the Tories make cuts.

Ewe · 15/03/2010 09:15

Looking after just 5% of people WOULD be crazy wouldn't it? Surely nobody would do that.

Oh no, wait a minute, that is exactly what the Conservatives are doing with the inheritance tax plan. A tax benefit to the top 2% of the country.
