to cry in the middle of Sainsburys.... :(

or AIBU to think I'm not a totally crap mummy??

DS2 is 3 weeks old, after "one of those mornings" with my toddler and newborn, I dropped my toddler of with my aunt and took DS2 for a blood test as he is still a bit jaudance. He was a bit upset during the blood test but had a good feed afterwards and was fine.

Taking advantage of having just DS2 with me, I quickly went into Sainsburys chemist to get some cream for the piles from hell .

Whilst waiting to pay, DS2 had a little cry and the lady behind me said "that baby needs feeding, you mothers now adays, he should be a home"

With that I burst into tears, said he wasn't hungry and was a bit cross after a blood test.......she then tore me to shreads " a blood test!" On and on she went.

So I cried, left my pile cream and cried all the way back to the car looking totally stupid in front of everyone!

Oh and then I couldn't get the car seat in the car as I had been boxed in, so poor little one had to be lifted over the front seat. AH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Should I have gone straight home from the hospital??? Was a being a crap parent??

Of course you didn't need to go straight home and you're certainly not a terrible mother - you poor thing, that woman sounds absolutely horrid. I hope she felt really ashamed of herself.

Run yourself a nice bath, pour a glass of wine and put today behind you. Tomorrow will be better.

You were not being crap at all. Ignore them. I get piles too so totally understand and you're tired. I cried in waitrose once when I had had no sleep for months had two children with me and no trollys with 2 seats. I even asked to see the manager and stood crying about the fact they didn't have enough. They now have loads thanks to the hormonal crying woman.

The old cow in the shop needs a sharp smack in the mouth telling off.

When old people made comments about me I would just say to baby/child/whoever....."old people are all so bitter because they are so close to dying they like to suck the good out of life for the young" but then I am a cow

You are not a crap mum. You just had a rough day due to blood test etc. Things will get better. That woman was incredibly rude and I hope she is feeling like complete shit for making you cry.

Things need to be done, pile cream needs to be bought you cant hole yourself in your home because of a newborn its just not possible.

Have a nice large glass of wine cup of tea and stop thinking you are crap, because you are not.

Remember you are still recovering from birth and very tired so be nice to yourself.

And what a silly old cow...she should jolly well mind her own buisness!

And I hate it when people do that with cars...it happened to me once, and I'm really carful not to do it to someone else's car. (but if you have a really pristine car, with no toys, or baby things, I might by accident)

You are so not crap......you sound like a great Mummy.

Thank-you.... perhaps I should have taken him straight home after the nasty needle, but I knew he had a full tummy and I was sooooo sore

Just sent DH out for the cream......and LOADS of chocolate! Is wine ok if your breastfeeding?

She was being a fucking cow.

In her day they kept you in hospital for about 3 weeks. It is hardly our fault that hospitals turf us out about 30 minutes after we have delivered the placenta.

An old lady once told me off for bringing my baby out "too late in the day" when I was in a supermarket at 5.30pm

Little did she know that my dh was travelling, I'd been ill with d&v for the previous three days and I'd run out of nappies

I felt like bursting in to tears too so no you are definitely NBU!!

Hope your ds2 is now happily asleep and you have your feet up in front of the telly x

errr YANBU!!! my sil had a go at me like that when i was waiting around for dh fart arsing around trying to get a plumber to fix HER boiler.

i felt terribly self concious thought when i first had dd and she cried in public - the worst time was going back out in the the doc's waiting room to wait for the hv after dd had her first jabs. dd was wailing for england and i got some stern looks from other patients. so much so i felt the need to announce loudly 'SHES JUST HAD HER JABS!!!'

Have wine (it's fine while BFing, just don't get so pissed you drop the baby and don't co-sleep if bevvied) and chocolate and weep to your heart's content. Hope your arse feels better soon

Yes - wine is fine in moderation. If you're safe to drive, you're safe to breastfeed. Enjoy x
