to think that people who follow their star signs are bonkers

I mean those people who say - "we get on because we have complimentary star sign".

Or "what star sign are you?" who really cares about this and why??

I'm writing about people who read star signs and believe them - i just think it is madness and dismiss people who believe in star signs as being a bit dim witted.

I don't believe in all that crap either.

I'm a Virgo, we're very sceptical.

LaurieFairyCake · 04/03/2010 17:50

I'm always surprised by people who believe in them.

Nowt as queer as folk.

southeastastra · 04/03/2010 17:52

yabu

Pumphreydidit · 04/03/2010 17:53

One half of me wants to believe, the other half thinks it is woo.

We are both Gemini.

southeastastra · 04/03/2010 17:54

yanbu (also gemini)

SixtyFootDoll · 04/03/2010 17:54

YANBU how can the same things happen to one twelfth of the population?!!
Bonkers

LaurieFairyCake · 04/03/2010 17:55

lol at sea tok me a minute to get that

MrsSawdust · 04/03/2010 17:56

Don't think I know anyone who reads star signs or ever been asked what star sign i am. I would think they were a loony if they did.

CokeFan · 04/03/2010 17:57

I read all of them and pick the best one.

Shitemum · 04/03/2010 17:59

The ones in newspapers and magazines are crap because they are only about the sun signs (Aries, Gemini etc.) and so are very general.

If you studied it in more depth you'd soon see it is far more complex and interesting.

And even if you don't believe in it the study of astrology forces you to think about people's personalities or motivations in a different way or from a different point of view, which isn't a bad thing if you are interested in understanding why we're all different.

PortBlacksand · 04/03/2010 18:00

I was grilled on my star sign at an interview once. I got the job. whether this is because of or despite the fact that i'm Scorpio i don't know (we tend to have a bad rep).

KnottyLocks · 04/03/2010 18:02

Apparently I may face some challenges today.

They've met DS1 and 2 then.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 04/03/2010 18:04

port - that must be bollocks discriminatory in some way

(I am a Scorpio - we are right beeatches apparently)

AliGrylls · 04/03/2010 18:07

I don't believe in them generally. However, in saying that Taurus and Capricorns are meant to be very compatible (DH and I respectively).

PortBlacksand · 04/03/2010 19:24

Jamie - it probably is but i was shit at the job anyhoo. Me and my interviewer / subsequent boss are still friends despite that fact.

I was a terrible secretary / PA.

PortBlacksand · 04/03/2010 19:25

Must have been the Scorpio in me

SixtyFootDoll · 04/03/2010 19:31

I only believe that sscorpios are sexy and mysterious.

uglymugly · 04/03/2010 19:59

Well, there might possibly maybe have been some vague connection between date of birth and personality back when the majority of people only had access to seasonal foods, and sometimes had very little of that; and a connection between maternal nutrition and the developing foetal brain; and that perhaps could have a minuscule influence on personality traits.

On the other hand, the constellations are merely a visual effect as most of the stars in any constellation have no connection with each other. And anyway the whole thing is muddled by some people having birth dates earlier or later than they would otherwise have had, thus placing them under a star sign they weren't originally supposed to be under.

I'm Libra. We Librans do try to take a balanced view. (And sometimes that takes a lot of trying.)

chandellina · 04/03/2010 20:05

YANBU. I think there are some interesting systems that seek to classify people by patterns of emotion or behaviour but to think those characteristics are linked to a relatively new calendar seems pretty nuts.

Ivykaty44 · 04/03/2010 20:09

Today is not a good day for disagreements as my venus in in the air, it is best if I agree with passing strangers and get to know them better as they may cross me on a later thread

Oblomov · 04/03/2010 20:12

YABU. There is a big difference between reading silly, 'today you will meet the man of your dreams on a bus' type horoscopes, and the star sign analysis.
I am a aquarian and a so aquarian it is untrue. never read daily tosh. most other people i know fit their sign - dh is a leo and is very proud dominant lion.
have you actually ever read a decent guide to your sign. you might not think it is so 'dim-witted' then.

Morloth · 04/03/2010 20:17

YANBU, but if it makes them happy I don't care.

However, as soon as someone says something like that I quietly write them off as a bit dim and don't bother much with what they say afterwards.

Shrug, they can believe what they like and I can believe that I can't be bothered.

smallorange · 04/03/2010 20:25

I used to work with someone whose job was to make up the star signs for a popular women's weekly.

Tis all nonsense but quite good fun

zippyzapper · 04/03/2010 21:28

Oblomov i am genuinely interested in how people you know match their sign?? i don't get it ??

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 04/03/2010 21:35

Well, My last relationship (before meeting DH) fizzled out because we were totally incompatible.

I am an Aquarius which is an Air sign, and he was a total Knob jockey
